06:00 AM paul424: after a longer discussion we have more money on single robot, which one would support python programming then ? I now about mbot2 ...
06:20 AM paul424: I Know* about ...
09:40 AM enleth: consider getting one lofirobot set in addition to whatever else you decide on
09:42 AM enleth: the problem with the fancy intricate metal and plastic parts on most of those sets is that kids *will* break or lose something sooner or later and you'll be constantly worried about losing a critical part of an expensive set for which you probably can't get individual parts easily
09:44 AM enleth: if you lose or break a lofirobot part, just contact me or pozytywny, we'll remake it for you on the laser cutter at HSWAW for free
09:45 AM enleth: 3mm plywood is being cut here every single day, throwing in a small part with a batch of other stuff takes almost zero effort
09:47 AM enleth: ah, he's gone, wonder why there's no part message in my log
09:48 AM paul424: Naah I am back ... WHat robot for children programming with python ? I know about edison and mbot2 ...
09:53 AM enleth: paul424: https://pastebin.com/hxh27fs5
09:53 AM enleth: and check if the arduinos used in lofirobot support micropython
09:53 AM * paul424 googles
09:54 AM paul424: "Arduino boards officially supporting MicroPython. There's quite the difference between how we program an Arduino board with the Arduino IDE, using the Arduino programming language (based on C++), and how we program it using MicroPython."
09:54 AM paul424: :)
09:55 AM enleth: actually, before buying any set and committing to any particular expensive kit brand, you should ask the manufacturer what the policy and pricing is for buying replacement parts
09:55 AM enleth: you will need them
09:57 AM enleth: your funds are limited, so you need to make sure what you buy will be usable for a long time despite being at constant risk of breakage and parts loss due to kids being kids
09:58 AM paul424: yeah good point
09:58 AM enleth: paul424: so your options are choosing a vendor who offers parts at a reasonable price, or a kit that you can fix yourself or easily get access to someone who can
10:04 AM enleth: paul424: having your own tools to do it is ideal, knowing someone who has is the next best thing - and you just ,ight be able to convince your boss to get that small cheap chinese laser cutter after the fancy robot sets lose too many parts to be usable, while the wooden ones still do their job
10:05 AM paul424: she would never agree ... here's extra cheap https://www.ratoeducation.be/en/mbot2.html
10:06 AM paul424: how do you check european shops ? in poland we have ceneo.pl
10:06 AM paul424: which queries all the shop databeses
10:08 AM enleth: cenowarka.pl / geizhals.eu (same site)
10:08 AM paul424: enleth, ohh many thanks :)
10:09 AM enleth: they're tech-focused but those kits are likely to be included
10:10 AM enleth: I'm not sure I'd call that mbot "extra cheap"
10:12 AM enleth: I can see the value in buying a nice, complete set that works out of the box, but that convenience comes at a cost here
10:12 AM enleth: make absolutely sure to ask the manufacturer about spare parts before buying
10:14 AM enleth: It's nice that the chassis is aluminum, should take a lot of abuse without failing
10:17 AM enleth: I wonder how the upper plastic parts hold up, most transparent plastics that can be molded like this are rather brittle
10:52 AM paul424: https://www.makeblock.com/steam-kits/mbot-ranger-2#Manuals hmm at amazon.de this one also cheap ... for circa 171 euros
10:52 AM paul424: at amazon.de
10:53 AM paul424: upps I repeat myself >_<
07:29 PM Nokaji_ is now known as Nokaji
