08:08 AM gartt: A vacuum being able to traverse stairs seems like a lot of work for diminishing returns. Better to move it from upstairs to downstairs every few days and just vacuum the stairs yourself when needed which takes seconds
08:16 AM gartt: To traverse stairs forces your robot to become about 10 times more complex than it originally had to be
08:16 AM Tom_L: ppl are gettin too frickin lazy
08:18 AM Tom_L: mall security
08:18 AM Tom_L: but malls are becoming obsolete too
08:30 AM gartt: I think they'll always be around, since people want to try on clothes rather than ordering online and having to send back if the fit isn't right
08:30 AM gartt: Malls in the US are a social avenue for a lot of people too
08:30 AM Tom_L: the ones here are dying and being replaced with outdoor access centers
11:59 AM rue_mohr: the malls out here are not adjusting their rates as they get more and more empty
03:00 PM jiffe: I hate buying clothes online, getting harder and harder to local shop for clothes
03:04 PM jiffe: I don't feel like having things in my house automated is lazy at all, especially if I'm the one building the automation because I probably spend more time building/fixing than I would just doing what the automation is doing in the first place :)
03:05 PM jiffe: and when the automation just works its a really nice feeling
03:06 PM jiffe: I don't have an automated cleaner yet, I've been kind of waiting to see if one would do stairs, depending on complexity I would totally try to create one myself if it just had to move an existing cleaner and I didn't need to build the cleaner myself
03:07 PM jiffe: I think using a track system on the stairs would be the way I would go as it seems the most cimple
03:07 PM jiffe: simple
