07:01 PM BillyZane: 2) do projects, a first project: build a 3D printer (Cartesian robot)
07:03 PM BillyZane: 3) learn a robotics platform: ROS.
07:04 PM BillyZane: i want to know: how realistic is my goal?
07:05 PM BillyZane: my education background: B.S. in applied math
07:06 PM BillyZane: i want to put together the following skill set, separated in to the following categories
07:07 PM BillyZane: design: kinematics, cad models, kicad PCB design, rviz and gazebo for simulation

09:44 PM ReformedGeek: I think that's cool. It definitely takes some time for you to get familiar with EE, CS stuff. but I think that's worth the effort!
