02:07 AM rue_mohr: so this week I want to do some aluminum casting
02:14 AM rue_mohr: need to use up some of those hard drives
09:30 PM rue_shop2: hmm aluminum casting, what should I cast...
09:30 PM Tom_L: a bananna
09:45 PM superkuh: Conical frustrum.
09:45 PM superkuh: -r
10:05 PM rue_mohr: I'd like to make something that can pay for a few castings
10:05 PM rue_mohr: see if I can find a 1/5 ratio
10:06 PM Tom_L: you did the triggers already
10:06 PM Tom_L: i'd shoot for 100%
10:06 PM Tom_L: a few of mine did that and exceeded
10:07 PM Tom_L: gotta pick the right thing at the right time
10:08 PM Tom_L: rue_mohr, how's that mold holding up?
10:09 PM rue_mohr: no I mean out of 5 casting activites, 1 pays for the fuel
10:09 PM rue_mohr: I'v used the mold twice
10:10 PM rue_mohr: we have a large bag of triggers and no sales happening
10:10 PM Tom_L: maybe dozen or two parts?
10:11 PM Tom_L: rue_mohr, take those little parts on ebay or somewhere and make a few
10:11 PM Tom_L: i'm sure his isn't the only bad one
10:15 PM Tom_L: it wasn't profitable for them to supply any so it may be another dead end
10:21 PM mrdata: so a 1:5 cost benefit
10:22 PM mrdata: makes sense
10:24 PM Tom_L: part of the trick is to make a bunch of widgets whilst it be hot
10:25 PM Tom_L: figure out a good part on a 3d printer to make from aluminum that ppl would like
10:26 PM Tom_L: what plastic parts wear out quick on them?
11:04 PM Tom_itx is now known as Tom_L
