03:20 AM Jak_o_Shadows: https://pasteall.org/media/1/c/1cb820f12040164cc95c3e1e4f014c3a.png My PCB's arrived!
07:12 AM ace4016: nice
07:22 AM Jak_o_Shadows: Got like, almost none of the parts for it
07:23 AM Jak_o_Shadows: Got the crystals, but that's it
07:24 AM Jak_o_Shadows: I hope I bought all the parts
08:19 AM Tom_itx is now known as Tom_L
11:40 AM goppo: anyone know how a planetary gearbox is held together? like this one how is the output face plate attached to the middle grey section, which presumably is the ring gear? https://imgur.com/a/cfLcDfj
03:01 PM ThomasEgi: goppo, screws, shrink/press fit, glued, welded.
03:02 PM ThomasEgi: my guess would be pressed together
03:03 PM goppo: ThomasEgi there doesn't seem to b e any screw though
03:03 PM goppo: but why is the front cap pressed but not the end cap
03:03 PM goppo: the end uses screws
03:03 PM ThomasEgi: because you need to insert the shaft
03:04 PM ThomasEgi: screwing off one end will give you full access and makes assembly and disassembly easy. press fitting both you'll have a really hard time to get it apart again
03:05 PM goppo: so the front bearings would have been pressed into the front cap
03:06 PM goppo: how about the input bearing?
03:06 PM goppo: presumably the input shaft clamp is one piece
03:06 PM goppo: with the sun gear on the end
03:08 PM goppo: ok. so assembly would be like press front bearings into front cap, press front cap into ring gear, insert shaft, press end bearing into end cap, insert input clamp and sun gear and fasten the screws
04:20 PM ThomasEgi: goppo, nono. the bearings themselves arent pressed.
04:25 PM ThomasEgi: you'd press the outter gear ring (3) onto the front cap (7). it looks like the front bearings are held in place via retaining rings. then the output shaft part is inserted and the input shaft is inserted into the assembly. last part would be to mount the two bearings in the rear casing (again probably clipped in with retaining rings). last part would be to slide the rear casing into the middle part (outter gear) and fix it in place with the
04:25 PM ThomasEgi: screws
