09:50 AM sinned691535: rue_mohr: can i run a half-baked, or maybe quarter-baked idea past you?

09:51 AM sinned691535: normal sewing machine motors are ~1.0A, 90W, 1/8hp motors.
09:51 AM sinned691535: ~5000 rpm universal brushed AC motors
09:52 AM sinned691535: what would it take to put a similarly sized servo motor on there with a SIMPLE controller?
09:52 AM sinned691535: commercial sewing machine servos are huge and $$$
09:53 AM sinned691535: normal sewing machine foot pedal is just a rheostat
02:14 PM rue_mohr: sinned691535, hi
02:15 PM rue_mohr: sinned691535, how do you mean servo, closed loop velocity control?
02:17 PM rue_mohr: if its JUST closed loop velocity control use the same motor, add a sensor, tiny13 controller, bit of other stuff and your into it for maybe about $75 if you spend too much
02:33 PM sinned691535: hmm, no, i think its to be able to consistently go slow
02:42 PM sinned691535: here is a rabbit hole to peek in - https://www.theupholsteryforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=85&start=60
02:43 PM sinned691535: the thing is those motors are freaking gigantic.
02:44 PM sinned691535: i am trying to figure out to use a smaller one- like maybe nema23 size to fit where the usual sewing machine motor is
02:44 PM sinned691535: the normal motor is a potted, universal A-C motor

06:39 PM rue_mohr: thats what I mean tho
06:39 PM rue_mohr: its speed control, regulated
06:39 PM rue_mohr: you can do it with a normal motor
06:40 PM rue_mohr: the universal motor is fine
06:40 PM rue_mohr: I have the software for it
06:41 PM rue_mohr: I use a drill motor on my cnc, I use the speed regulator to maintain its speed under load
06:41 PM rue_mohr: my old cnc uses a weed eater motor
07:46 PM BillyZane: hi
08:25 PM rue_mohr: low
