02:38 AM flav0r: Hey dudes what's new
01:30 PM goppo: is it a good idea to use PCB boards to make the structure of a bot rather than aluminium sheets? PCB boards should have less soft and don't flex as much, right?
01:31 PM Tom_L: depending on the type of aluminum per thickness it is more rigid
01:47 PM ace4016: there also might be a cheaper and more suitable fiberglass than the common PCB FR4 or so that's stiffer and/or more resiliant
02:02 PM goppo: irght
02:03 PM goppo: *right
02:03 PM goppo: but per g, is PCB FR4 typically more rigid than aluminium?
02:04 PM goppo: per weight
02:40 PM mrdata: goppo, whats its density and strength modulus?
02:40 PM mrdata: rigidity is something that can be set by shape
02:41 PM mrdata: larger diameter tubes are more rigid than smaller diameter ones
02:43 PM mrdata: aluminum density is 2.7 g/cm3; fibreglass is slightly lower
02:45 PM mrdata: fibreglass has amuch higher tensile strength than aluminum
02:45 PM mrdata: but i'm not sure about compressive strength
