12:14 AM rue_shop2: ok
12:19 AM rue_shop2: ok
01:06 AM mrdata: um, what
01:07 AM mrdata: how much current will these FET drivers source/sink?
02:23 AM rue_shop2: I didn't go past giving them a 0.01uF load at 1Mhz
02:23 AM rue_shop2: the bipolar totem wins, slighly better performance
03:07 AM rue_shop2: oh damnit the cat just let a mouse go in the shop
03:13 AM Tom_L: maybe you're feeding it too much
04:19 AM deshipu: cats don't hunt for food, they just enjoy it
04:31 AM marder is now known as katsumi
09:03 AM rue_bed: its BAD I cant have a freaking mouse in the shop
09:04 AM rue_bed: I'll have to get a bunch of traps tommorow
09:04 AM rue_bed: hopefully it doen'st naw on anything that starts a fire
10:16 AM ace4016: or a cat
10:39 AM rue_bed: the cat brought it into the shpo
10:39 AM rue_bed: I'll put both cats in the shop tommorow and see if they can find it
10:39 AM rue_bed: I couldn't
10:39 AM rue_bed: arg
10:40 AM rue_bed: the cat might have scratched it or something, so it might just die of infection anyhow
10:40 AM rue_bed: but ARG
10:40 AM weyland|yutani: mrdata, well you could use it to drive a motor coupled to a generator
10:41 AM weyland|yutani: rue_bed, i know your pain
10:41 AM rue_bed: I should also re-assemble my electronic trap
10:41 AM rue_bed: ir beam trip
10:41 AM weyland|yutani: dont electrocute yourself with that 1kv mousetrap
10:42 AM rue_bed: I should always have a trap set in the shop,
10:42 AM rue_bed: no, it pulls a solinoid release
10:42 AM rue_bed: so the mouse doesn't have to be physically jumping on the trigger to set it off
10:42 AM weyland|yutani: spring trap?
10:42 AM rue_bed: there are two spots the cat generally has some interest in that concern me
10:43 AM rue_bed: well its a live trap, at this point I dont care
10:43 AM rue_bed: but I'v never seen signs of mice in the shop, so I think this is the only one
10:44 AM weyland|yutani: no droppings?
10:44 AM rue_bed: nope
10:44 AM weyland|yutani: then you dont have mice
10:44 AM mrdata: weyland|yutani, i thought a FET driver is meant to drive the gate of a MOSFET
10:45 AM rue_bed: and none of the bits of food that occasionally get dropped around have been taken
10:45 AM weyland|yutani: mice tend to shit everywhere
10:45 AM rue_bed: yea
10:45 AM mrdata: so the question of current determines how fast you can switch the device it drives, once you know gate charge
10:45 AM weyland|yutani: mrdata, i meant a woodgasifier
10:45 AM rue_bed: weyland|yutani, are you working on fet drivers too?
10:46 AM rue_bed: mrdata, or you just mixing us up
10:49 AM mrdata: rue_bed, i'm not confusing you with weyland|yutani
10:49 AM mrdata: last thing i wrote earlier was,
10:49 AM mrdata: how much current will these FET drivers source/sink?
10:49 AM rue_bed: didn't check current
10:49 AM rue_bed: I checked it agianst a 10nf load cap
10:50 AM mrdata: i thought weyland|yutani was addressing that question
10:50 AM rue_bed: I just wanted to compare the two against each other
10:50 AM mrdata: yes ok
10:50 AM mrdata: did you get a measure of how fast they switch
10:53 AM rue_bed: yup
10:53 AM mrdata: rue_bed, cool
10:53 AM rue_bed: rise and fall times
10:54 AM rue_bed: https://twitter.com/RueNahcMohr/status/1226038097973919744
10:55 AM rue_bed: I also have the performance of them on file, so I know if I need to
10:56 AM rue_bed: I'm sure the dv/dt against 10nf could be used to work out the drive current
10:58 AM mrdata: yes it can
10:59 AM rue_bed: really like being able to print from the new scope
11:01 AM mrdata: yeah thats fun
11:01 AM mrdata: very useful for note keeping
11:01 AM rue_bed: I need to set up an stm32 to take parallel data in and fire it out as 115200 baud data tho
11:01 AM rue_bed: it can only do 19200 serial, and its patience testing
11:01 AM rue_bed: even with just eps files
11:03 AM rue_bed: I burned up a driver transistor when I forgot to dial it down from 3Mhz while installing a 0.1uF loading cap
11:06 AM rue_bed: I have some crt rgb drivers that have a really good freq resp. I could play with those too
