12:12 AM zhanx: scares me
12:12 AM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/projects/smelter/p1130226.jpg
12:12 AM rue_mohr: then dried it..
12:12 AM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/projects/smelter/p1130230.jpg
12:12 AM rue_mohr: then sifted it
12:12 AM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/projects/smelter/p1130225.jpg
12:12 AM rue_mohr: now I need bentonite
12:12 AM rue_mohr: and to know what ration I'm supposed to use
12:12 AM rue_mohr: ratio
12:33 AM flyback is now known as hootie_blowfish
12:33 AM hootie_blowfish is now known as flyback
09:13 AM veverak: any pic pros here?
09:13 AM veverak: https://scontent-prg1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.15752-9/68594074_939128103100718_692789219961077760_n.png?_nc_cat=109&_nc_oc=AQkSQWANT3WDkqisqogCqzBVny7PfyrAO4XKJHWgNuDEN33HS1yhsH2tbvEi-TafPv-mkECuNhVCvvmtoZDonMCO&_nc_ht=scontent-prg1-1.xx&oh=9dce3f9062ab9e008f5a05c9c5d20797&oe=5DEA2AD3
09:13 AM veverak: got interrupt-on-change over two pins which read PWM
09:13 AM veverak: however, one of the pins is sometimes missed
09:13 AM veverak: in the picture are reading from logic analyzers
09:13 AM veverak: the top two are "inputs" to the PIC on the pins
09:14 AM veverak: the bottom two are output pins, which are set HICH/LOW in the interrupt routine based on the input
09:14 AM veverak: they should mirror the top
09:14 AM veverak: but as you see, sometimes one channel misses :/
09:25 AM edmoore: greetings, I'm going to build a little 2-wheeled balancing robot, suitable for playing with on a desk. I wonder if anyone knew of any good seam of cheap brushless gearmotors, ideally with encoders, that are available to hobbyists? I don't really have the budget to just spec the correct thing directly from maxon
09:33 AM veverak: https://scontent-prg1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.15752-9/68594074_939128103100718_692789219961077760_n.png?_nc_cat=109&_nc_oc=AQkSQWANT3WDkqisqogCqzBVny7PfyrAO4XKJHWgNuDEN33HS1yhsH2tbvEi-TafPv-mkECuNhVCvvmtoZDonMCO&_nc_ht=scontent-prg1-1.xx&oh=9dce3f9062ab9e008f5a05c9c5d20797&oe=5DEA2AD3
09:34 AM veverak: now it's shitting me
09:34 AM veverak: the output which should react to interrupt-on-change did not reacted and one output pulse is longer
09:34 AM veverak: fuuuu
09:34 AM veverak: edmoore: I use LX15D for this
09:34 AM veverak: edmoore: 240deg. encoder, 14$, enough horepower
09:37 AM veverak: https://imgur.com/a/PQKN0G5
09:48 AM edmoore: veverak: that looks like a servo rather than a gearmotor
09:49 AM edmoore: I want continuous rotation etc
09:52 AM edmoore: I will google, i’m just out of the loop with hobby stuff
10:13 AM veverak: it is continuous :)
10:13 AM veverak: but only 240 encoder
11:37 AM deshipu: so no rhex
01:09 PM rue_mohr: morning
01:18 PM weyland|yutani: good morning
01:19 PM weyland|yutani: well wait isnt it like 3 am where you live?
01:40 PM veverak: rue_mohr: !
01:40 PM veverak: rue_mohr: you now PIC ?
01:42 PM rue_shop1: I know PIC?
01:42 PM * veverak got bug with code
01:42 PM Tom_L: rue_shop1 is home!
01:42 PM veverak: can't figure it out
01:42 PM rue_shop1: I went from 68hc11 to PIC
01:42 PM rue_shop1: then I saw the light and went to avr
01:42 PM rue_shop1: and I never looked back
01:42 PM Tom_L: you should have 68332'd along the way
01:42 PM rue_shop1: PICs aren't worth the free samples
01:42 PM Tom_L: that was fun
01:43 PM rue_shop1: Not really a motorola arch fan tho
01:43 PM rue_shop1: dispite starting on 6502
01:43 PM rue_shop1: iirc
01:43 PM Tom_L: come over and help me hang this siding mkay?
01:44 PM rue_shop1: 6502 -> z80 -> 80386 -> 64hc11 -> 16f84 ->16fxxx (x a few) -> atmega32 -> *
01:44 PM rue_shop1: why did your siding fall off!?1
01:44 PM rue_shop1: tornado?
01:44 PM Tom_L: no just some bad pieces
01:44 PM Tom_L: mostly around the bottom
01:44 PM rue_shop1: so went dont have to dislodge any from neighbouring houses?
01:45 PM Tom_L: shhh
01:45 PM rue_shop1: :)
01:45 PM rue_shop1: I dont have time to fly over, I need to work on my cnc today
01:45 PM rue_shop1: then ma is comming by and were gonna clean up the respberry garden
01:46 PM rue_shop1: I have 2.5 inches to make a z slider
01:46 PM rue_shop1: I realized something tom
01:46 PM Tom_L: barely enough
01:46 PM rue_shop1: the bit diameter
01:47 PM rue_shop1: If I want to make a full bleed 4'x8' cnc, it needs to be 1 bit dia larger
01:47 PM Tom_L: uh huh
01:47 PM Tom_L: at least
01:47 PM rue_shop1: I might have enough extra built into it
01:47 PM Tom_L: taken into account the rollers etc under it
01:48 PM rue_shop1: got all that
01:48 PM rue_shop1: but I forgot to shift the overage to one side, I kept centring it
01:48 PM * Tom_L goes out to see if it's a good day to put up siding
01:49 PM rue_shop1: somehow, a fellow with a big cnc in his garage spending the day nailing on siding while the machine is idle, seems like a fiber optic tech working at a hardware store selling plumbing fittings
01:50 PM rue_shop1: I have 5 3d printers here, 100% idle :/
01:50 PM rue_shop1: and 3 cnc
01:50 PM rue_shop1: again, idle
01:52 PM rue_shop1: it seems every month the internet gets just a *bit* quieter
02:29 PM BillyZane: hi
02:30 PM BillyZane: i'm new to robotics and i was going to start making hardware purchases
02:30 PM BillyZane: i was wondering if it was better to go with nvidia's platform
02:30 PM BillyZane: or would that make me too locked in to their ecosystem
02:31 PM BillyZane: as a beginner, is it better for me to learn on an odroid (n2)
02:32 PM BillyZane: the type of stuff i wanted to do involve movement, computer vision, machine learning and robotic limb manipulation
02:32 PM BillyZane: i'd also like to learn how to work with drones
02:54 PM rue_mohr: your shooting for an AI robot?
02:54 PM rue_mohr: for your first?
04:21 PM rue_shop1: ok, I tink I found the backlash in my new 3d printer
04:24 PM veverak: i hate PIC
04:28 PM rue_shop1: I do to.
04:29 PM rue_shop1: becasue of paged memory
04:30 PM rue_shop1: and part number postfixes for chips that aren't compatible
04:30 PM rue_shop1: and proprietory programmers
04:30 PM rue_shop1: and charging for a C compiler
04:30 PM rue_shop1: and 1 working register
04:30 PM rue_shop1: and lack of brownout protection
04:31 PM rue_shop1: and 4 cycle instructions
05:54 PM Tom_L: rue_shop1, that's it?
05:57 PM Tom_L: rue_shop1, how come they all start out the same?
05:58 PM Tom_L: i've never flown a kite but i want to go to pluto
06:25 PM logb0t_ is now known as logb0t
06:57 PM Tom_L: logb0t
06:57 PM Tom_L: wonder what triggers the other one
07:01 PM zhanx: !logb0t ask
07:01 PM zhanx: !help
07:03 PM zhanx: .help hello
07:03 PM zhanx: .help logb0t
07:04 PM Tom_L: heh good luck
07:51 PM BillyZane: rue_mohr, sorry i had to go to a doctor's appointment, back. yes i am. but i am not expecting this to happen all at once, there will be a lot of sub projects along the way. the AI component won't come till later but i'm working towards that goal
10:06 PM rue_shop1: well
10:07 PM rue_shop1: you need a corner to start from
10:07 PM rue_shop1: DONT try to buy everything you will ever need
10:07 PM rue_shop1: start with a component of what you want to do and get it working
10:08 PM rue_shop1: remember that the technology stuff will be obsolete every 6 months, so do that last
10:08 PM rue_shop1: BillyZane,
10:08 PM Tom_L: rue has collected everything he will ever need and then some
10:08 PM BillyZane: rue_shop1, i see
10:09 PM BillyZane: rue_shop1, i gotta sleep soon. i gotta work 70 hours at the shipyard this week
10:09 PM Tom_L: fun
10:10 PM BillyZane: rue_shop1, trying to find time to study is not easy, i have to be efficient with my time and money
10:10 PM BillyZane: i'm considering doing open course wear or paying for edx or something
10:11 PM BillyZane: i need to get out of the shipyard
10:11 PM zhanx: MIT has free courses on line
10:11 PM BillyZane: i just submitted an application as at a junior data analyst position
10:11 PM zhanx: BillyZane, https://ocw.mit.edu/courses/find-by-topic/
10:12 PM BillyZane: zhanx, yes i was just looking at that today actually
10:12 PM BillyZane: i've known about it for awhile
10:12 PM BillyZane: great resrouce
10:12 PM zhanx: yep
10:12 PM BillyZane: amazing
10:12 PM BillyZane: the CS&EE catalogue is great
10:12 PM BillyZane: i have a B.S. in applied math as well
10:13 PM BillyZane: most of the content is accessible to me
10:13 PM BillyZane: now i just gotta find the time and the right guidance
10:14 PM BillyZane: what i really need is a non-labor job
10:14 PM BillyZane: or working in the actual field in order to learn
10:14 PM BillyZane: like a paid student
10:14 PM BillyZane: the sooner i can get to that position, the better
10:15 PM Tom_L: my kid was doing the paid student thing for a bit
10:15 PM Tom_L: reverse engineering
10:15 PM BillyZane: is that even possible
10:16 PM Tom_L: they were taking apart F14? and 3d scanning the entire thing
10:16 PM zhanx: yep
10:16 PM Tom_L: all variations of it
10:17 PM Tom_L: he needed more hours so he's at a cnc shop now
10:18 PM flyback: https://imgur.com/a/4CWWGKz
10:51 PM rue_shop1: cool
10:51 PM rue_shop1: I wonder if they didn't have the specs for the plane anymore
10:51 PM zhanx: lost to time?
11:34 PM marder is now known as katsumi
