12:56 AM sinned6915: rue_mohr: nvm, i got it figured out
02:05 AM rue_mohr: about me?
02:05 AM rue_mohr: k
02:45 AM katsumi_: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VReIuv1GFo
02:45 AM katsumi_: c64
02:46 AM katsumi_: \o/
02:46 AM katsumi_: moin rue
03:21 AM Jak_o_Shadows: hi
04:34 AM rue_bed: sleeeeeeep
04:36 AM polprog: hey rue_bed
05:05 AM mun: hi
05:06 AM polprog: hi mun
05:06 AM mun: anyone know why cartesian 3d printers use threaded rods for vertical moment whilst delta ones use rubber tracks?
05:07 AM mun: why don't cartesian ones use rubber tracks as well?
05:07 AM mun: polprog hi there
05:07 AM Jak_o_Shadows: speed of movmenet
05:07 AM mun: Jak_o_Shadows but why don't cartesian ones use the same?
05:15 AM mun: are timing belts harder to maintain?
11:01 AM marder is now known as katsumi
05:42 PM devlaf_ is now known as devlaf
06:30 PM rue_mohr: I'm building a belt driver Z axis for mine, so that it wont have the wiggle from the threaded rod in it
06:30 PM rue_mohr: its a bunch of work
10:47 PM sinned6915: mun: the mechanics are different- the screw can take advantage of friction to hold position
10:47 PM sinned6915: and impose almost no load on the motor
10:48 PM sinned6915: resolution of the Z axis also lends itself to a screw - subdividing the inclined plane into short segments vs. fractions of a rotation
10:50 PM sinned6915: Cartesian don't need speed in the vertical axis like delta's do- the vertical carriages on the delta move 3-4 times faster than the horizontal printing speeds
10:56 PM mun: hi
10:57 PM mun: anyone know of a good low-powered way to pull boxes and cylinders that weight 100g-500g?
10:57 PM mun: i've looked into suction cups, but the vacuum seems to draw a lot of power
11:02 PM sinned6915: mun: define pull
11:02 PM mun: sinned6915 basically just drag in a straight line
11:05 PM sinned6915: how far? do you mean couple the object to an actuator of some kind?
11:07 PM mun: sinned6915 yeah, well just around 15cm
11:09 PM mun: i'm trying to keep it simple. i'm trying to avoid arms that use claws because aiming claws can be quite difficult, especially on cylindrical objects
11:44 PM flyback: talk about getting the shaft https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TB5ciamK0jI
