12:10 AM MLE_Online: no one at the group could figure out what effect having the wrong voltage zener in there would do
12:10 AM MLE_Online: besides set the reference voltage wrong
12:10 AM MLE_Online: but they didnt know what effect that would have on the supply
12:12 AM MLE_Online: i use the one at the group when im there
12:12 AM MLE_Online: and it is pretty handy

12:15 AM rue_shop1: I suppose the idea is to find the poisition that causes you not to start to fall
12:15 AM rue_shop1: and to react to any falling with a countermove
12:15 AM rue_shop1: I have a hell of a headache and can't think it thru
12:15 AM MLE_Online: I know he did a lot of work adjusting his PID for that
12:16 AM rue_shop1: yes, but its about what the PID is controlling
12:16 AM rue_shop1: you could tell the PID to keep your robot at a partilclar angle
12:16 AM rue_shop1: I suppose to keep the "1G" "down"
12:17 AM rue_shop1: but then if a load tipped your robot it would go rolling off like a segway

12:17 AM rue_shop1: instead of just adjusting its "up" defiition to not tip over

12:19 AM MLE_Online: are you going to make a balancing robot like ross's?

12:19 AM rue_shop1: well, I'v been interested in making a balancing robot for a while
12:19 AM rue_shop1: didn't have an IMU as easy to use as that one from the ABS controller

12:20 AM rue_shop1: I mean, this thing outputs an analog votage, it doesn't get easier than that

12:28 AM MLE_Online: and then after maker faire, maybe back to the VFD

12:28 AM rue_shop1: yea, in the winter they cant charge back up and the batteries get damaged

12:29 AM MLE_Online: we worked on it tonight after the power supply
12:29 AM MLE_Online: we figured out the bug
12:29 AM MLE_Online: and fixed it

12:30 AM MLE_Online: no, there was a short between that inductive load pin on one chip
12:30 AM rue_shop1: oh!
12:30 AM MLE_Online: and a segment pin on the next chip
12:30 AM MLE_Online: a short within the perfboard
12:30 AM rue_shop1: heh, mmmm china
12:31 AM MLE_Online: so i just cut that pin off the chip and it all worked like it is supposed to
12:31 AM MLE_Online: yep, china
12:31 AM MLE_Online: but yeah, he has to get his rover ready for maker faire
12:31 AM MLE_Online: so he is focused on that right now
12:31 AM rue_shop1: thats a good amount of work
12:32 AM rue_shop1: no maker fairs over here anymore
12:32 AM MLE_Online: fortunately, it's just one mini project
12:32 AM MLE_Online: right now his rover is its own wifi network and he wrote a webapp for it
12:32 AM rue_shop1: :)
12:32 AM MLE_Online: so you go on his phone and drive the rover around with that webapp
12:33 AM MLE_Online: but at maker faire, there might be too much wifi interference
12:33 AM MLE_Online: because he had that problem at SCALE
12:33 AM rue_shop1: yes, I got a tablet fro doing just that
12:33 AM MLE_Online: so he's building a tethered joystick for it
12:33 AM rue_shop1: I need to find a local guy who does drone racing and get advise on a fpv system
12:34 AM MLE_Online: fpv for what?
12:34 AM rue_shop1: all sorts of robot run

12:34 AM MLE_Online: which robot is going to be your telepresence?

12:35 AM rue_shop1: I HAD wanted to make a robot to sneak into the bush, camp, and watch the deer

12:36 AM MLE_Online: and pretend you're the one mowing the lawn
