12:14 AM Wayfarer: neat
12:19 AM zhanx: Wayfarer, ask rue what he is working on some time
12:19 AM Wayfarer: k
12:19 AM zhanx: either is scanning the brain or a new bot
01:07 AM rue_shop1: hey
01:07 AM rue_shop1: I'm doing a larson scanner with a tiny13 and charlieplexing
04:34 PM gartt: Since my arduino has so little space for code, I wonder if anyone's tried doing something like polling something with more resources
04:35 PM gartt: For example, the arduino polls a Raspberry Pi via REST, and the arduino asks the Pi what to do, how many times / for how long, and when to ask the Pi again for instructions, and the Pi would basically spoon feed the arduino what to do
04:36 PM gartt: So the arduino would have just enough brains and space for code to just ask what to do, understand it, and do it
04:38 PM durrf: theres this 3d printer firmware that uses something like that
04:38 PM durrf: klipper its called
04:40 PM gartt: Because then, you could combine very resource-weak microcontrollers with something "smarter" and offload work to them and give them purpose
04:40 PM gartt: Interesting
04:41 PM gartt: I vaguely remember reading about a web framework in which the backend actually spits out the JS code to be served, and the REST-decoupled javascript front-end is just smart enough to relay user requests and to run what the back-end gave it
04:42 PM gartt: That's probably why I started thinking of this
05:07 PM tumdedum_ is now known as tumdedum
05:15 PM rue_mohr: hi
05:15 PM rue_mohr: what are you trying to do that there isn't enough room for?
06:21 PM gartt: rue_mohr: Nothing specific, I just remember a long time ago writing wannabe autopilot software on an arduino duemilanove and running out of space
06:33 PM gartt: Maybe I was intentionally trying to fill it up, but the IDE complained about this and that's why I was thinking about using a Pi with a REST API and having the arduino poll it for instructions
08:26 PM rue_mohr: well it takes a LOT of code or putting static data like tables in the wrong places to fill an avr
08:43 PM rue_shop1: --
08:44 PM zhanx: ok pi came in the mail
08:44 PM zhanx: too bad i thought i had the right mini hdmi connector
08:52 PM Tom_L: cherry or apple?
08:53 PM zhanx: raspberry
