01:46 AM mrdata|| is now known as mrdata|
04:29 AM veverak: so
04:29 AM veverak: I need hexapod configuration
04:29 AM veverak: (walker, 3DOF per leg)
04:29 AM veverak: that folds nicely
04:30 AM veverak: as in 'my backpack' comptaible fold
04:46 AM deshipu: I think most designs fold pretty well
04:47 AM deshipu: but you can always go all the way: https://hackaday.io/project/158016-4b-robot
04:51 AM veverak: balls are bad when it comes to 'organize your backpack' problem :/
04:52 AM deshipu: octohedrons pack better? :P
04:52 AM deshipu: octohedra?
04:53 AM deshipu: octahedra
04:54 AM veverak: block would be better
04:54 AM veverak: let's say tetris compatible
04:54 AM veverak: I have some ideas :)

04:56 AM deshipu: like this?
05:07 AM deshipu: hmm

05:15 AM deshipu: veverak: how about the spider robots from Cyberpunk 2077?

05:20 AM deshipu: here it is in the game: https://youtu.be/BYd-Kd0ozbk?t=82
05:54 AM veverak: wow, the dentons look awesome
05:59 AM veverak: yeah, the cyberpunk 2077 too
09:50 AM horohoro: hello everyone
12:39 PM nexm: Hi, I used silicone tape over a servo spline, to tighten a loosely fitting servo horn
12:40 PM nexm: it works fine, but when removing the servo horn the tape peels off with it
12:40 PM nexm: is there a more permanent solution, something that would cure with the servo horn for example?
12:40 PM Triffid_Hunter: nexm: epoxy, with a thin coating of release in the horn I guess?
12:41 PM nexm: what kind of release would that be? (newbie here)
12:42 PM Triffid_Hunter: nexm: dunno, it's a thing they use with moulds to prevent the moulded material sticking to the mould
12:42 PM Triffid_Hunter: not sure what would work with epoxy but I'm sure there's plenty available
12:43 PM nexm: ok thanks
12:44 PM nexm: I have come across many robot forums, are there forums for more chemical/moulding and similar kinds of topics?
12:44 PM Triffid_Hunter: nexm: likely there are but I know of none
12:45 PM nexm: Triffid_Hunter: while I am "spamming"; know of some good robot forums with good activity, besides let's make robots, hackster or hackaday?
02:30 PM veverak: deshipu: https://imgur.com/a/G6MR9GQ
02:30 PM veverak: however
02:30 PM veverak: the size grew a bit too much
02:30 PM veverak: :)
02:38 PM deshipu: veverak: the question is whether you want the mounting of the legs to be in a circle or in two rows
02:38 PM deshipu: also, remember that the servos are only 280°
02:41 PM veverak: 280 is enough
02:41 PM mumptai: hi
02:41 PM veverak: deshipu: would prefer two rows, but that is not foldable right now
02:41 PM veverak: mumptai: hi
02:45 PM veverak: deshipu: the biggest 'bummer' to make it more foldable are the width of legs
02:45 PM veverak: which can't be reduced really, because of the servos
02:46 PM deshipu: veverak: you could make the left and right leg interlock somehow
02:46 PM deshipu: veverak: if one folded up and the other down, for example
02:46 PM veverak: deshipu: wanted to fold them all on one side
02:47 PM deshipu: that could work too
02:47 PM veverak: just now, I am thinking mor of a way to make two legs detachable
02:47 PM deshipu: veverak: or rotated in a non-actuated axis
02:48 PM veverak: yup
02:48 PM deshipu: all robots have all legs detachable
02:48 PM deshipu: they might just be non-reattachable
02:48 PM mumptai: i have a motor-controller on SAB, a ultrasonics rnagefinder interface board, and openMV is in the progress of being interfaced to it
02:48 PM veverak: deshipu: on the other hand, I still did not inserted coxa servos, I am missing battery and electronics
02:48 PM mumptai: but what other unit might be nice to have?
02:49 PM veverak: deshipu: have to reduce the size/thickness of the parts, definetly
02:49 PM deshipu: mumptai: a jet engine
02:50 PM mumptai: is an electric impeller close enough?
02:50 PM deshipu: also, lasers pew pew pew
02:51 PM veverak: hmm
02:51 PM veverak: will move the tibia servo to be part of the tibia itself, rather than femur
02:52 PM veverak: that should make it possible to rearrange parts
02:54 PM veverak: also the coxa(red) parts can be much smaller
02:54 PM veverak: 7mm is the top thickness, overkill
02:58 PM veverak: deshipu: what do you think abou ratio of length between coxa/femur/tibia ?
02:58 PM veverak: deshipu: I am thinking 1:2:2
02:58 PM veverak: (+-)
03:14 PM deshipu: veverak: no idea, some simulations would be in order to figure out what works best
03:15 PM deshipu: veverak: I recommend having servos as close to the body as possible
03:15 PM deshipu: veverak: making tibia light -- this way you can move it faster
03:15 PM deshipu: having a servo in the tibia feels like swinging a mace
03:51 PM veverak: yeah
03:51 PM veverak: that was my originall reasoning too
03:51 PM veverak: but it seems as the more compact version with simpler parts
03:51 PM veverak: deshipu: I was thinking about this as I went hackerspace- > home
03:51 PM veverak: given the size of servos and the fact that I want this to be foldable/compact
03:52 PM veverak: no hexapod, let's make it quadruped
03:59 PM deshipu: veverak: quadruped with hands
03:59 PM deshipu: veverak: like that cyberpunk 2077 one
04:00 PM veverak: deshipu: too big
04:01 PM veverak: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/LOBOT-Bus-Micro-Servo-LX-15D-Motor-Metal-Gear-TTL-USB-Debug-Board-Remote-Control-RC/32874849290.html
04:01 PM veverak: the servos are big by themselfs
04:01 PM veverak: it's easier to make small robot with 12 of them, rather than 18
04:06 PM flav0r: IM BACK !!!
04:09 PM deshipu: veverak: if you did a 8dof quadruped (mamal), you could make two
04:10 PM mumptai: jets and lasers, anything else?
04:12 PM deshipu: flame throwers
04:12 PM deshipu: and goggly eyes
04:12 PM deshipu: all robots should have goggly eyes
04:13 PM mumptai: flame throwers? elon style?
04:13 PM mumptai: actually my ST-Link has a pair of googly eyes
04:13 PM deshipu: good
04:13 PM deshipu: googly or goggly?
04:14 PM deshipu: there is an important difference
04:14 PM mumptai: and one is broken, i guess it will turn pirate soon
04:15 PM mumptai: it will get a eye-patch made from black electrical tape
04:17 PM mumptai: a servo electronics replacement with SAB might be interesting?
04:20 PM deshipu: perhaps, it would really depend on what a SAB is
04:24 PM mumptai: a UART based bus, single master, differential signaling
04:24 PM mumptai: simple and cheap
04:33 PM deshipu: meh
06:43 PM veverak: deshipu: https://imgur.com/a/CmvkQOs
06:43 PM veverak: much better I believe
06:43 PM veverak: :)
07:45 PM rue_mohr: Mikeee,
07:45 PM rue_mohr: there are no 10c microconttollers
07:45 PM rue_mohr: those listed prices, are just a draw-in
07:45 PM rue_mohr: I requested 50pcs from a seller, they said $1ea + $32 shipping
07:45 PM rue_mohr: thats more than I can get them for from aliexpress in small quant w/ship
