12:06 AM mrdata--: ok i added sweet peppers, celery, brocoli, cherry tomato, carrots
12:10 AM mrdata--: and all the meat stripped off a turkey leg and a wing and chopped
12:10 AM mrdata--: this will be a full size meal
12:10 AM mrdata--: z64555, which items are mentioned that you cant buy?
12:10 AM zhanx: mrdata--, broth or steamed
12:10 AM mrdata--: zhanx, i threw it into a wide sauce pan along with the onions and galic i am sweating
12:11 AM mrdata--: i get pork backs for 0.70/lb
12:11 AM mrdata--: or 0.29/lb on special
12:11 AM rue_mohr: !?! shoudl I add rear speakers to the computer in my room!?
12:12 AM z64555: I blame training requirements. We also have a bit of a labor shortage because the kids and 20-somethings have nil conditioning for any sort of manual labor
12:12 AM mrdata--: thus the fall of civilization is coming
12:12 AM mrdata--: yeah i get it
12:14 AM mrdata--: all they know how to do is sit around and play online games and eat cheeseburgers and fuck their girlfriends
12:14 AM rue_mohr: but thats not new
12:15 AM rue_mohr: the fall has been happening for generations now
12:15 AM z64555: *fuck over their girlfriends, you mean. If the social media posts have any truth to them
12:29 AM rue_mohr: hmm, this soup came out kinda earthy
12:30 AM anonnumberanon: because it precame cooked
12:30 AM anonnumberanon: sorry
12:31 AM rue_mohr: ? I think a whole beet was too much
12:32 AM rue_mohr: my project ideas are good, I need to finish them as fast as I come up with them
12:32 AM anonnumberanon: should have used a carrot
12:32 AM rue_mohr: there is a carrot in there
12:32 AM rue_mohr: and a potato
12:33 AM anonnumberanon: geez
12:33 AM anonnumberanon: and i thought I was talking an amateur
12:57 AM mrdata--: how does soup become earthy?
12:58 AM mrdata--: oh, with the beet
12:58 AM mrdata--: did you peel the beet
12:58 AM mrdata--: and chop it
12:59 AM mrdata--: adding onions and cabbage will turn it into borscht, approximately
12:59 AM mrdata--: serve cold, with sour creme, perhaps
01:00 AM mrdata--: but i would have to taste it to tell what it needs
01:03 AM rue_mohr: I did peel and chop it
01:04 AM rue_mohr: I'll send you some, canada post, you should get it in 1-3 months, tell me what it takes like...
01:04 AM rue_mohr: ooooh, ALL the things on this desk need re-evaluation
01:29 AM mrdata--: lol
01:29 AM mrdata--: how much fat is in there
01:29 AM mrdata--: of what kind
01:32 AM Jak_o_Ombroj: well, i tidied up that pCA9685 code, and it seems to be driving the motor driver nicely enough
01:33 AM rue_mohr: 9685, is that i2c?
01:33 AM Jak_o_Ombroj: yup
01:33 AM Jak_o_Ombroj: i2c PWM
01:33 AM rue_mohr: what you going to do with it?
01:33 AM Jak_o_Ombroj: Christmas lights
01:33 AM rue_mohr: didyou use 2 channels for f/R and speed control?
01:33 AM rue_mohr: ah
01:33 AM Jak_o_Ombroj: You need a full H-bridge for some sets
01:33 AM Jak_o_Ombroj: for others, i just have mosfets
01:34 AM Jak_o_Ombroj: I used 2 channels for F/R. Just left the speed control pin always on
01:34 AM rue_mohr: yea, I'v seen them split the strings 50/50
01:34 AM Jak_o_Ombroj: yeah, last year I didn't pick up on it
01:34 AM Jak_o_Ombroj: so I only had half the lights in 2 of the sets i modified
01:35 AM rue_mohr: what are you using for a driver?
01:35 AM Jak_o_Ombroj: that one's just a L298N
01:35 AM Jak_o_Ombroj: the fets are IRLZ44N's I think
01:35 AM rue_mohr: oh, your not full voltage then
01:35 AM Jak_o_Ombroj: nah, the lights are LED, so only 31V
01:35 AM rue_mohr: 31v is a descent array
01:36 AM Jak_o_Ombroj: and the fets turn on enough at the signal voltage of the *9685
01:36 AM mrdata--: i like IRLZ44N
01:36 AM mrdata--: nice low RDS(on)
01:36 AM mrdata--: iirc
01:36 AM Jak_o_Ombroj: yeah.
01:42 AM Jak_o_Ombroj: but anyway, the lights didn't entirley work, through the oscope said the motor driver was right
01:43 AM Jak_o_Ombroj: so I'll find a working set and probe them at some point
02:10 AM Jak_o_Ombroj: having probed a working one, i'm startin got think it might be some of the connections
02:10 AM Jak_o_Ombroj: not ht emotor driver
02:32 AM rue_mohr: ok, tommorow, I need to change the power supply in the shop fileserver
02:32 AM rue_mohr: so I can back it up
02:33 AM rue_mohr: cause, from waht I can tell, it fails every time there is lots of harddrive activity
02:39 AM Jak_o_Ombroj: well, tha'ts not ideal
02:40 AM Jak_o_Ombroj: I really should get some power metres, so I can know how much energy the server comp is using
02:41 AM sensille: Jak_o_Ombroj: http://djfk.net/3dpfs/14/ it was only a calculation error :-/
02:42 AM sensille: (if you are the same as Jak_o_Shadows)
02:42 AM Jak_o_Ombroj: yeah sensille, i have a bouncer, so am always on
02:43 AM Jak_o_Ombroj: well that's bloody annoying isn't it
02:43 AM Jak_o_Ombroj: what was it?
02:43 AM sensille: i'm angry it took me so long, but i'm also very relieved
02:44 AM sensille: miscalculated the 2nd derivate of the clothoid, missing factor
02:44 AM Jak_o_Ombroj: ah
02:44 AM Jak_o_Ombroj: Really glad it's working now
02:44 AM sensille: thanks
03:25 AM rue_mohr: not sure how to do the gui for this
03:25 AM rue_mohr: the only way I can think of is to use python and mash a huge mess togethor
03:27 AM Jak_o_Ombroj: jupyter notebook
03:27 AM Jak_o_Ombroj: ?
03:27 AM Jak_o_Ombroj: not sure how much of a gui you need
03:33 AM rue_mohr: I need a window
03:33 AM rue_mohr: a menu
03:34 AM rue_mohr: a multiselect list
03:34 AM rue_mohr: a graphic area I can draw lines/circles in
03:35 AM rue_mohr: and input boxes, need those too
03:36 AM rue_mohr: hmm gtk?
03:45 AM rue_mohr: gdk?
04:12 AM Jak_o_Ombroj: ah. well, up to the drawing, i was going to say a jupyter notebook would be perfect.
04:13 AM Jak_o_Ombroj: qt is the popular thing nowadays I think
04:13 AM Jak_o_Ombroj: through Kivy, GTK, wxpython are all options
04:25 AM rue_mohr: not QT
04:25 AM rue_mohr: using QT means that every time a new qt version comes out, you have to rewrite your software
04:25 AM rue_mohr: and lots of software devs cant keep up
04:39 AM Jak_o_Ombroj: Yeah. I'm not a fan of QT
