12:39 AM rue_mohr: black spraypait is fine
12:49 AM rue_mohr: ok sooooo
12:49 AM rue_mohr: to split the force feedback into 2 controllers
12:50 AM rue_mohr: with no master
12:50 AM rue_mohr: it looks like I have each controller send off its positioion value, and take the difference from the recieved value and its local value to use for the drive signal
12:51 AM rue_mohr: so, should there be a delay in there somwereh
01:02 AM justan0theruser is now known as justanotheruser
01:15 AM rue_mohr: oh good jokes
01:15 AM rue_mohr: "electricians need to strip to make ends meet"
01:21 AM z64555: These jokes are difficult to gauge
01:22 AM z64555: Very easy to get stranded
01:46 AM rue_mohr: well, I wonder if I can get a new version of the force feedback going tommorow over two controllers
01:47 AM rue_mohr: if the m328 can sample all 8 channels at 20Khz, and their 10 bit samples, then I need a min of 40Kbytes/sec
01:47 AM rue_mohr: 320kbaud
01:47 AM rue_mohr: 115200
01:47 AM rue_mohr: so, 330k should be achivable
02:01 AM rue_mohr: wtf, who knew those fuller handles fit in a 15/16 wrench!?
02:09 AM z64556 is now known as z64555
04:07 AM flav0r: dudes whats new?
04:07 AM flav0r: i inherited this little project
04:08 AM flav0r: involving these steppers
04:08 AM flav0r: never used them before!
04:08 AM flav0r: lol
05:05 AM flav0r: rue
05:05 AM flav0r: soon i will have that diamond status
05:05 AM flav0r: i can FEEL it !
11:05 AM rue_mohr: so Tom_L
11:06 AM rue_mohr: how cn I adjust the phase of an interrupter for those disks
11:06 AM rue_mohr: I suppose once you get it, it can stay put
11:07 AM rue_mohr: so, maybe if the opto uses large pcb pads, and ya melt solder, position, and let cool?
11:07 AM rue_mohr: its all within 0.1" of movement, so it doesn't make pads too large
11:08 AM rue_mohr: and, should I build a specialized cnc lathe to make the collar pieces for them?
11:09 AM rue_mohr: convert M10 bolts
01:07 PM flav0r: hey hey
01:08 PM Tom_L: yeah you need a way to adjust one of them a little bit
01:09 PM Tom_L: don't follow about the lathe bit
01:10 PM Tom_L: if you're talking about the disks, i'd press em in
01:12 PM flav0r: hey someone is awake!
01:12 PM flav0r: whats up Tom_L ???
01:12 PM Tom_L: leaving now
01:13 PM flav0r: thanks for the update on your itinerary dude!
01:13 PM Tom_L: np
01:13 PM flav0r: would you liek ot know my schedule too?
01:13 PM Tom_L: no but you did ask
01:13 PM Tom_L: later...
01:14 PM flav0r: no dude i just asked whats up
01:14 PM flav0r: youre confused ;)
01:56 PM flav0r: hey folks ive managed to rope myself into inheriting some small project for a guy that involves controlling a stepper
01:56 PM flav0r: the bad thing is i’ve not actually used any before!
01:57 PM flav0r: anyway i’m reading through this code and got some cheezy diagram of the circuit and trying to make heads or tails of it
01:57 PM flav0r: and i have some questions!
01:58 PM flav0r: the one that stands out to me though is it seems to be setting up some interrupt based timer that sends a signal to move the stepper
01:58 PM flav0r: and this just keeps on firing
01:59 PM flav0r: then elsewhere in the code seems to be somethign that turns the power to the driver on and off (what seems to effectively be “stopping” and "
01:59 PM flav0r: “starting” the motor
01:59 PM flav0r: im new but that seems a bit odd!
01:59 PM flav0r: is that a typical approach?
03:40 PM rue_shop4: you need to do acceleration and deacceleration
03:40 PM rue_shop4: or you lose steps and cant get to full speed
03:42 PM flav0r: well
03:42 PM rue_shop4: what do you need to do tiwh it?
03:42 PM flav0r: hows that relate to what i aske ?
03:42 PM flav0r: are you saying you gotta turn the driver on and off ?
03:43 PM flav0r: or is that just some general info ?
03:43 PM rue_shop4: no, acceleration is the process of slowly getting up and down to speed
03:43 PM flav0r: yah yah .. so general info
03:43 PM rue_shop4: google trapazoidal velocity profile
03:43 PM flav0r: the think im wondering is if the way its been implemented as i inherited it is correct ?
03:44 PM rue_shop4: doesn't sound right no
03:44 PM flav0r: :)
03:44 PM rue_shop4: what do you need to do with the stepper motor
03:44 PM flav0r: you gonna be around in an hour or so ?
03:44 PM rue_shop4: using grbl might be a good hack
03:44 PM rue_shop4: maybe
03:44 PM flav0r: sucks i gotta go meet a guy right now
03:44 PM rue_shop4: I have to pick a project for the rest of the weekend
03:44 PM flav0r: else i would quizz you more !
03:44 PM flav0r: haha
03:45 PM flav0r: you men decide on which project to takle ?
03:45 PM flav0r: tackle ?
03:45 PM flav0r: how many you got going on dude ?
03:45 PM rue_shop4: I have 12 on my list
03:45 PM flav0r: lol
03:45 PM flav0r: lucky guy
03:45 PM rue_shop4: none of them can be finished, I can only make progress
03:45 PM anonnumberanon: rue_shop4, you're lucky, a project is forced upon me for the rest of the weekend
03:46 PM flav0r: but thats just a metaphor for life isnt it
03:46 PM flav0r: just a constant work in progress
03:46 PM flav0r: good stuff
03:46 PM flav0r: i just got done putting tyogether a cheezy little thing to replace an existing device that has 2 buttons to raise and lower a desk
03:47 PM flav0r: AFTER i solder the buttons on … i just push them
03:47 PM flav0r: and one is mechanically not operational !
03:47 PM flav0r: lol .. always something
04:50 PM flav0r: did you decide on a project to tackle ????
05:04 PM _unreal_: Looking for a key switch like this that can handle 20amp at 115VAC http://img.weiku.com/waterpicture/2011/10/24/0/electrical_key_switch_634590921947212130_1.jpg
07:56 PM Tom_L: use a relay
08:03 PM rue_shop4: I was gonna say that too
08:16 PM flav0r: me too ;)
08:46 PM rue_shop4: ok, so the printers are doing things...
08:46 PM rue_shop4: hmm
08:46 PM * rue_shop4 looks around for soemting to do
08:49 PM flav0r: i have a suggestion
08:59 PM flav0r: ok i can get back to looking at this thing
08:59 PM flav0r: https://imgur.com/a/MhTY03H
09:00 PM flav0r: https://pastebin.com/RT9LpTJ2
09:00 PM flav0r: if you can take a look at that and if in your opinion what i was saying is indeet whats going on
09:01 PM flav0r: where theres an interrupt timer that gets called and just keeps on sending signals to move the stepper
09:01 PM flav0r: then theres a direction flag there
09:02 PM flav0r: and it actually turns the driver on and off to actually move or stop the stepper (witht he interrupt still firing and sending signals to a driver that may or may not be powered at any given moment)
09:02 PM flav0r: then
09:02 PM flav0r: is that the “right way” to do things
09:02 PM flav0r: as i mentioned before to me that seems a bit silly
