12:00 AM rue_: _unreal_, http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/circuits/5wiredriver.jpg
12:04 AM rue_: its not totally built, but will work :)
12:04 AM rue_: 5 wire steppers do have antiphase windings
12:04 AM rue_: figuringout who is who can be fun
12:04 AM rue_: but those 4 inputs can go directly into whatever
12:04 AM rue_: maybe I'll work on building it tommorow
12:04 AM rue_: there is a 12' robot that was supposed to get more attention this week than it did
03:34 AM trafaret1: hi there
03:34 AM trafaret1: Do anybody have ever been workikng in TIA portal in Siemens?
03:35 AM trafaret1: sorry for my terrible english :)
08:43 AM rue_: not me
08:45 AM rue_: _unreal_, you see the image?
11:53 AM z64556 is now known as z64555
04:44 PM _unreal_: yes I see the image
04:44 PM _unreal_: rue_, I'd have to put together a mouser order for parts
04:44 PM _unreal_: or digikey
07:01 PM rue_: SWEET my 1/2" NPT tap arrived!
07:10 PM SpeedEvil: :)
07:16 PM ace4016: nice
07:16 PM ace4016: what are you tapping?
07:16 PM ace4016: that reminds me...should maybe use my tap...
07:18 PM rue_: I needed to tap some pvc pipe once, now I have a tap
07:18 PM ace4016: ah, cool
07:42 PM Tom_L: not metric pipes up there?
07:42 PM Tom_L: ironic
07:48 PM ace4016: they like to do things like make speed limints in kph, weight limits in lbs, and switch between Celsius and Farenheit
09:11 PM rue_shop3: Tom_L, so the gib on a sherline is plastic...
09:11 PM Tom_L: of some type yes
09:11 PM rue_shop3: trying to work out the box ways
09:12 PM Tom_L: the bot is happy now
09:15 PM _unreal_: rue_, I am guessing you dont have Harber freight in your area?
09:16 PM _unreal_: Tom_L, its always good to have a happy butt
09:17 PM rue_shop3: no
09:17 PM _unreal_: err bot
09:17 PM rue_shop3: ?
09:18 PM z64555: a clean bot is a happy bot
09:18 PM z64555: a cleaner bot is an unhappy bot
09:25 PM _unreal_: rue_, I have a set of those. the STIX pc controllers
09:25 PM rue_shop4: _unreal_, its not quite gonna fit on a 5*7 pcb
09:26 PM _unreal_: random
09:26 PM rue_shop4: the driver
09:28 PM _unreal_: perf board cad :)
09:29 PM rue_shop4: I'll go 7*9 and see, but thats kinda big
09:30 PM * _unreal_ palm to face..... my daughter is babbling away AT ME in her bedroom getting ready for bed behind a closed door.
09:31 PM rue_shop4: she speaks in the AT command set?
09:31 PM Tom_itx: rue_shop4, i got alot of pointers from watching details of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVEPZ4JYDmc
09:33 PM Tom_itx: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygZHOMA2Cmc
09:33 PM Tom_itx: that might even be better
09:34 PM Tom_L: they're using linear rails, not box ways on their cnc's
09:35 PM rue_shop4: yup
09:35 PM rue_shop4: I'm all subscribed to using box ways now
09:35 PM Tom_L: Gene Haas feels they're a better fit for machines under 40HP spindle
09:36 PM rue_shop4: _unreal_, I think it'd fit on a 5*7 if I dont keep all the fets on one side
09:38 PM rue_shop4: the diodes need heatsinks
09:38 PM _unreal_: rue_, I said babbling not tunneling
09:39 PM rue_shop4: I dont know that the fets do, but it would be nice to have them on soemthing
09:41 PM rue_shop4: ok, you know, I'm going to avoid making this on a board that turns out to be too small
09:41 PM rue_shop4: I'm going 7*9
09:42 PM rue_shop4: all the power stuff can go on one edge, and I can run it all on one heatsink
09:42 PM Tom_L: can't find that much on box rails
09:42 PM rue_shop4: me either
09:42 PM Tom_L: how much travel?
09:43 PM rue_shop4: more than the sherline :)
09:43 PM rue_shop4: my bench is 24" deep
09:43 PM rue_shop4: so, I think thats a good target for overall machine depth
09:44 PM Tom_L: mine was a little deeper.. the steel table anyway
09:44 PM rue_shop4: not sure how far forward the upright will put me
09:44 PM Tom_L: probably 12"
09:44 PM rue_shop4: I have 5' of rail
09:44 PM Tom_L: i think i'm gonna get longer Z rails
09:45 PM Tom_L: then i won't be fighting touching the table or putting the vise on
09:45 PM Tom_L: right now it's a tradeoff
09:45 PM Tom_L: i got a 1.5" block today to help
09:45 PM Tom_L: like 7 x 14"
09:46 PM _unreal_: you know I'm torn, the cnc machine I' building at work, I'm only in the planning stage right now BUT..... I'm trying to decide which direction I want to run the machine.... the MAIN work bed is aprox 22"x30" I'm thinking about making my X axis 30"
09:46 PM Tom_L: you realize you will lose about 1/3 of that
09:46 PM Tom_L: due to rail blocks etc
09:47 PM _unreal_: thats the thing
09:47 PM Tom_L: maybe more
09:47 PM _unreal_: I'm torn between making a WIDE machine and a long travel machine for the major axis
09:47 PM Tom_L: i _could_ put my sliders closer together on Z
09:49 PM _unreal_: I'd like to be able to fit 30 " material into the machine but I'd only get 20" + in the other major axis
09:51 PM Tom_L: my travel is 17.75 x 13 x 7 and you can see the size of the machine
09:51 PM Tom_L: X and Y are good for me
09:52 PM Tom_L: more X would be a bonus but it's ok
09:52 PM Tom_L: i plan to get around 10 - 11" Z
09:52 PM _unreal_: because I'm building a moving gantry, I'm just trying to solve which axis I want to be the larger
09:52 PM rue_shop4: ok, quick check, BYV32E
09:52 PM _unreal_: I'm leaning WIDER bridge
09:52 PM Tom_L: i'm not fond of moving gantrys for cutting metal
09:52 PM _unreal_: Tom_L, no argument
09:53 PM _unreal_: but this is a machine thats mainly for cutting fiberglass
09:53 PM _unreal_: byv32e?
09:53 PM Tom_L: i realize that
09:53 PM rue_shop4: geez 100v
09:53 PM rue_shop4: but 20A which is good
09:54 PM _unreal_: but Having a wider material work area would be good for me.
09:54 PM Tom_L: i wonder how rigid single slider blocks would be vs dual like i have currently
09:54 PM _unreal_: I could make a moving bed to extend my work area
09:54 PM rue_shop4: LT5212
09:55 PM _unreal_: something to slide over the fixed base of the machine. "projects that dont require accuracny down to the 1000'th
09:55 PM _unreal_: lt5212?
09:55 PM Tom_L: there are tradeoffs to consider no matter what direction you choose
09:55 PM rue_shop4: er SBL2040
09:55 PM _unreal_: rue_, I have no idea what those stand for
09:55 PM _unreal_: are they chip's?
09:55 PM rue_shop4: diodes
09:55 PM _unreal_: oh
09:56 PM rue_shop4: thats better 40V 20A
09:58 PM rue_shop4: and I did have two
09:58 PM rue_shop4: yay
09:58 PM rue_shop4: save the 100V ones for special stuff
09:58 PM rue_shop4: and its shottkey so, that'll do
09:58 PM rue_shop4: soldering irons taken its 12s to heat up...
09:59 PM rue_shop4: aaaaand GO!
10:00 PM rue_shop4: TIME!
10:00 PM rue_shop4: ok, with the circuit fully assembeld, now I have to make a coil sequencer
10:01 PM rue_shop4: hmm, this will take some thought and a LOT more tea
10:01 PM rue_shop4: oh and I have to drill the heatsink
10:02 PM rue_shop4: Tom_L, shall I use the new drill-generator cam program I wrote?
10:02 PM rue_shop4: its the motivation to add dxf support to it
10:03 PM rue_shop4: anyone there?
10:03 PM * rue_shop3 raises his hand
10:04 PM rue_shop4: you dont count
10:04 PM rue_shop3: I CAN COUNT!
10:05 PM rue_shop4: prove it
10:06 PM rue_shop3: 1 2 3 4
10:06 PM rue_shop4: thats not counting, that just sequencing
10:06 PM ace4016: i think he's fallen off the wagon again
10:17 PM Tom_L: a few words were spoken in #avr today. not many
10:17 PM _unreal_: heh
10:18 PM _unreal_: Tom_L, :) where they coded
10:18 PM _unreal_: err code words
10:18 PM _unreal_: I crack me up
10:18 PM Tom_L: not even close
10:20 PM Tom_L: rue_shop4, you should use it if you think it will work
10:20 PM Tom_L: or distract you from what you're currently doing to fix it
10:23 PM Tom_L: rue_shop4, have you kept track of how many join here but say nothing lately?
10:23 PM rue_shop4: nope
10:23 PM rue_shop4: I have join notification off
10:23 PM Tom_L: oh that's right
10:24 PM rue_shop4: too much noise
10:24 PM Tom_L: i figured you would watch that
10:24 PM Tom_L: the bot doesn't log it either but i do locally
10:25 PM Tom_L: that was one... AlexZ3
10:25 PM rue_shop4: I suppose given the circumstances it would be good to watch, but honestly, their prolly just bots
10:25 PM Tom_L: i've got extra rail here but probably not enough for you to make a mill
10:27 PM Tom_L: how much is 300µm in inches?
10:28 PM Tom_L: oh crap, that's sloppy
10:28 PM rue_shop4: units 300mm inch
10:28 PM rue_shop4: * 11.811024
10:28 PM Tom_L: .011811"
10:28 PM rue_shop4: _unreal_, you have an avr?
10:29 PM Tom_L: ok i gotta leave at 6 i should go sleep
10:36 PM rue_shop4: _unreal_, haha, I'm only making one of these, you get to make 3
10:36 PM * rue_shop4 moves all the diodes he put in the wrong way
10:51 PM _unreal_: hum
10:52 PM _unreal_: rue_, yes I have avr
10:52 PM _unreal_: I have a number of chips
10:52 PM _unreal_: pic's, arduino, stm32
10:52 PM _unreal_: etc.....
10:53 PM _unreal_: I'm not much of a programmer though
10:56 PM rue_shop4: no avr
10:56 PM rue_shop4: you mission is to program a step sequence
10:56 PM rue_shop4: 1010 1001 0101 0110
11:03 PM rue_shop4: hah, I cant find two good-to-use 0.33 ohm resistors
11:03 PM rue_shop4: two nice 0.2ohm
11:06 PM _unreal_: rue_, http://www.dakeng.com/u2.html
11:19 PM rue_shop4: pff, whatever
11:19 PM rue_shop4: preprogrammed microcontroller
11:19 PM rue_shop4: I was just giving you osmething to do for the project there
11:19 PM rue_shop4: I'm getting this copy fo the driver togethor
11:21 PM _unreal_: I built a programmer for the 16f84 back in the 90's
11:21 PM _unreal_: like 1999
11:22 PM rue_shop4: pics suck
11:22 PM _unreal_: :p
11:22 PM rue_shop4: use an avr, program it in C
11:22 PM _unreal_: I dont know programming
11:22 PM rue_shop4: I started with PIC, just donate them to someone
11:22 PM rue_shop4: hmm
11:22 PM _unreal_: I'm a boat builder by trad
11:22 PM _unreal_: trade
11:23 PM _unreal_: I make amazing things
11:23 PM rue_shop4: you did a fine job on the cnc
11:23 PM _unreal_: ordering a number of electronics parts off amazon currently
11:24 PM rue_shop4: still building up this copy of the driver for a test
11:24 PM _unreal_: These are the FEET I'm getting for the machine. I cant find anything more heavy duty :( https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01C91KTSU/ref=ox_sc_act_title_4?smid=A2VNJJ3P23X432&psc=1
11:25 PM _unreal_: Not using the TNUT
11:25 PM _unreal_: just the foot
11:25 PM _unreal_: drill/tap the steel base
11:35 PM _unreal_: thinking about getting this
11:35 PM _unreal_: https://www.amazon.com/KEHUASHINA-WHB04B-Wireless-Handwheel-Machine/dp/B07DQJMP69/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1534480370&sr=8-1&keywords=WHB04B-6&dpID=51ZONoDDFUL&preST=_SY300_QL70_&dpSrc=srch
11:38 PM rue_shop4: $135, ouch, my last one cost me like $5
11:38 PM rue_shop4: you know the latency on those makes them almost useless right?
11:38 PM rue_shop4: I know a guy who will happily sell you his
11:39 PM rue_shop4: the latency on that is horrid, and the speed of the parallel port makes mach3 slow as hell
11:40 PM rue_shop4: Tom_L, do you agree mach3 cant run steppers at a descent speed ?
11:40 PM rue_shop4: cause of the parallel port?
11:40 PM rue_shop4: its 50% of the reason my old machine sucks
11:41 PM rue_shop4: even tho I'm running custom C code on it, I cant get descent step speeds out of it
11:45 PM rue_shop4: that said, dont let me stop you from doing whatever gets your machine running
11:47 PM rue_shop4: ok, this board needs +12, +5, and ground
11:47 PM rue_shop4: maybe computer connector
11:48 PM rue_shop4: oh bugger, 2 mins to bedtime
11:48 PM rue_shop4: I better go make supper
11:51 PM rue_shop4: it'll need a 5 pin connector for the motor, I suppose a fuse is a good idea
11:51 PM rue_shop4: and it'll need a signal connector, I suppose 4 signals and a ground
11:57 PM _unreal_: order placed
11:57 PM _unreal_: $5?
11:58 PM _unreal_: I have not purchased any pendents yet
11:59 PM _unreal_: from what I have read the latency is in the display update mainly. and the rotory encoder system has some kickup's that link is to a 100ppr. most pendents I've found have 50ppr encoders
11:59 PM _unreal_: 1am going to bed
