12:03 AM Tom_L: there's a fairly good sized one
12:03 AM Tom_L: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtajM1ph1zk
12:03 AM rue_shop3: oh its the same as the damn parts sorter
12:03 AM rue_shop3: I really wish people woldn't use stabilization
12:03 AM rue_shop3: its ruins every video its used on
12:03 AM rue_shop3: oh you need to spray it as you go
12:03 AM Tom_L: https://www.ebay.com/itm/5-lb-Vibratory-Bowl-Jewelry-Coin-Metal-Case-Tumbler-Polisher-NEW-/331741482927
12:03 AM Tom_L: it's a good idea yes
12:05 AM Tom_L: http://www.therockshed.com/rocktumbler/DP40T.jpg
12:05 AM Tom_L: something like that would do as well
12:05 AM Tom_L: hex body
12:05 AM Tom_L: so it tumbles
12:05 AM rue_shop3: mm Iput some thingles in mine
12:06 AM Tom_L: that would work too
12:07 AM Tom_L: the parts come out a nice matte finish
12:09 AM rue_shop3: I'll go to the metal pile tommorow and get some big-ass springs
12:09 AM rue_shop3: easy
12:10 AM rue_shop3: :( the shift key on my model M keyboard is starting to stick
12:18 AM rue_shop3: OMG it compiled first try
12:18 AM rue_shop3: I"ll go have supper and think about this before running it
12:18 AM rue_shop3: still dont have an avr for it
12:18 AM rue_: mmm I ahve like a 10" peice of stainless pipe I can make that with, its about 24" long...
12:46 AM mrdata_ is now known as mrdata
12:47 AM z64556 is now known as z64555
01:50 AM trafaret1: hi guys
01:51 AM trafaret1: I have a question
01:51 AM trafaret1: how far industrial automation programming from robotics programming
01:52 AM rue_shop3: its a broken question, the answer is 42
01:53 AM trafaret1: rue_bed: I can't get you what do you mean
01:54 AM z64555: do you speak a different language? Your english grammar is confusing
01:55 AM rue_shop3: dont look at ME and say that!
01:56 AM z64555: that was directed at trafaret1. :P
01:57 AM veverak: :D
01:58 AM mrdata: how far is industrial automation programming from robotics programming?
01:59 AM mrdata: they arent so different
01:59 AM veverak: may be few meters, may be kilometers
01:59 AM mrdata: you have machine parts responding in real time
01:59 AM mrdata: but industrial automation may not be mobile
01:59 AM veverak: tbh: I don't think there is general answer, they are partially overlapping and there are problems specific only for each part
02:00 AM mrdata: the materials move through a plant, instead of a machine moving through a scene
02:01 AM veverak: and it all depends on what exactly you are comparing
02:01 AM z64555: unless you're talking about logistics bots, like a robotic forklift
02:02 AM z64555: when I hear/read "industrial automation" I usually imagine a car assembly line
02:02 AM z64555: or something you'd see on How Its Made
02:03 AM z64555: The Latter of which usually has a lot of things that are not technically robots, too
02:05 AM veverak: and in industrial I imagine, you are part of a bigger team
02:06 AM veverak: which means you can have a job about one thing
02:06 AM veverak: which as well may be image processing in C#, parallel system handling in Java, or whatever <put general IT job here>
02:06 AM veverak: :)
02:06 AM veverak: trafaret1: better question is, why are you interested?
02:13 AM z64555: wow, I have some interesting pdf's that I've never read
02:13 AM * z64555 should read those
02:36 AM rue_shop3: ok, I got the mp3 player working on the m328
02:36 AM rue_shop3: thats been another major item on my todo list
02:36 AM rue_shop3: now I can make my robots talk, and do the driveway chime
02:42 AM veverak: they will sing: "All hail our lord and savior Rue" when you arrive home? :)
02:45 AM rue_shop3: way too corney for me
02:47 AM rue_shop3: how about "Damnit, who woke me up!?" "Hey meatbag, charge my battery!" "Obsticles!? well they can bite my shiny metal ass!"
02:48 AM rue_shop3: I mean, they already have attitude, their just silent about it
02:50 AM veverak: I see
02:50 AM z64555: for good reason
02:51 AM rue_shop3: and, I'm making a driveway chime so I can know when people show up, I have people come by and leave cause they cant find me when I'm playing in the back yard or soemthing
02:52 AM rue_shop3: I need a good software debounce
02:52 AM rue_shop3: oh wait, I did one
02:52 AM rue_shop3: I did a ramp based one
02:52 AM z64555: I was about to say "Still??? thought you had one by now"
02:53 AM veverak: :D
02:53 AM veverak: z64555: I always expec him to say "hmm, I have my OS somewhere.... "
02:53 AM z64555: nah, OS isn't his thing
02:54 AM rue_shop3: ok, so, I'll come up with the version of that, that triggers on inputs to play songs/sounds later
02:54 AM rue_shop4: gee, its only 1am
02:57 AM z64555: that guy never did answer us
02:57 AM z64555: maybe it was a chatbot
03:00 AM veverak: ok
03:00 AM veverak: we have this saleae logic analyzer/osciloscope at work
03:01 AM veverak: I want it
03:01 AM rue_shop3: its cheap
03:01 AM rue_shop3: about $3
03:01 AM veverak: not really
03:01 AM veverak: but I want it
03:01 AM rue_shop3: well the chineese knockoffs are
03:01 AM rue_shop3: awesome tool
03:01 AM rue_shop3: and they work with the salee software
03:01 AM rue_shop3: I got a few, just incase
03:02 AM rue_shop3: it really made me question what I need a scope for
03:02 AM veverak: wow
03:02 AM veverak: aliexpress?
03:02 AM rue_shop3: yes
03:02 AM veverak: !!!
03:03 AM veverak: P.S it's really cool yo _see_ your i2c communication ... the SDA/SCL lines as digital/analog + it analyzes the i2c com and prints what is happening
03:03 AM rue_shop3: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/USB-Logic-SCM-24MHz-8-Channel-24M-seconds-Logic-Analyzer-Debugger-for-ARM-FPGA-Logic-Analyzer/32870694523.html
03:03 AM rue_shop3: haha you took too long the price went up
03:03 AM rue_shop3: yea
03:04 AM veverak: awesome
03:04 AM rue_shop3: they dont say anything about it working with the salee software :)
03:04 AM rue_shop3: sneaky
03:05 AM veverak: well, I was thinking about trying sigrok
03:05 AM rue_shop3: try one of those if you want to play
03:06 AM rue_shop3: hey, you have the commercial version of the salee software...
03:06 AM rue_shop3: so, its got a directory of filters....
03:06 AM rue_shop3: ?
03:07 AM veverak: maybe?
03:07 AM veverak: but I believe I use the basic sw only
03:08 AM rue_shop3: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Hantek-MSO5202D-200MHz-2Channels-1GSa-s-Oscilloscope-16Channels-Logic-Analyzer-2in1-USB-800x480-Free-Ship/32694769531.html
03:08 AM rue_shop3: the 25Mhz scope sitting on my bench was $700
03:10 AM rue_shop3: oh man that would be nice for capturing mechanical servo responces
03:10 AM rue_shop3: hey wtf, 8 bit horizontal resolution!?
03:11 AM rue_shop3: wtf, 20Mhz bandwidth.... what!?
03:21 AM rue_shop3: wait a sec
03:21 AM rue_shop3: if I'm excited about the idea of paying $1000 for a tv that I'd never use
03:21 AM rue_shop3: why dont I want to put $600 into a scope?
03:21 AM rue_shop3: ....
03:22 AM rue_shop3: my priorities really are messed up
03:22 AM veverak: yup
03:22 AM * veverak would not buy TV these days
03:23 AM rue_shop3: I'm not, wtf am I gonna use a tv for!?
03:25 AM rue_shop3: and what about the $50 capacitor meter I wanted?
03:26 AM veverak: that seems as better idea
03:27 AM Jak_o_Shadows: veverak, I have one, and I use sigrok
03:27 AM Jak_o_Shadows: I like it better than the salae stuff
03:29 AM veverak: it's good enough for me now
03:29 AM veverak: but I am thinking about trying sigrok
03:29 AM veverak: Jak_o_Shadows: any specific reasons?
03:30 AM Jak_o_Shadows: The UI is a bunch cleaner
03:30 AM Jak_o_Shadows: well, maybe I just don'e like dark backgrounds
03:45 AM trafaret1: are here anybody who knows st language
03:45 AM trafaret1: and konw how to programing industrial control systems
03:45 AM trafaret1: I need your help
03:45 AM trafaret1: I confused with timers
03:45 AM trafaret1: I need your advice
06:03 AM veverak: hmm
06:03 AM veverak: only 100kHz and the delay on the slave side is significant
06:52 AM Jak_o_Shadows: I was going to try and code, but tonight went away
07:45 AM Jak_o_Shadows: Ended up doing some anyway
07:45 AM Jak_o_Shadows: Mostly just checking that I can still run servos
08:35 AM z64555: oh, ST is for PLC's
12:19 PM weyland|yutani: structured text
12:20 PM weyland|yutani: its a little bit like VB
12:20 PM weyland|yutani: all PLC manufacturers use it in their premium products
08:53 PM rue_shop3: Tom_L, the parts tumbler
08:54 PM rue_shop3: I took a look around the yard, and I have some peices of 7" and 8" stainless, and some 12" peices of steel pipe, their all kinda thick or small, so, I'm thinking of using half a propane tank
08:54 PM rue_shop3: thoughts?
08:54 PM rue_shop3: I have some that have been unvalved for a few years
08:57 PM rue_shop3: unlike the stainless pipe, the steel propane tank is less likley to try to slit my throat
08:57 PM rue_shop3: as stainless is just evil
09:41 PM Tom_L: yeah the tank will rust but it should work
09:44 PM rue_shop3: oh, hmm good point, but if I use the stainless, I dont have any flat stuff to use for endcaps
09:47 PM Tom_L: while it's running it won't matter, just oil it up when you're done
09:47 PM Tom_L: i oil my vise surfaces
09:47 PM Tom_L: ran 3 sets of spacers tonight
09:48 PM Tom_L: and fixed the program so there's nearly no cleanup on the parts
09:48 PM Tom_L: just a little debur to knock off the sharp edges
10:11 PM rue_shop3: ok, wait, I cant let not having stainless to make it from stop me, I hav to build one, and it wont matter if its all wrong, cause it'll work, and when it breaks, I'll know more and can make a better one
10:11 PM rue_shop3: ok
10:24 PM rue_shop3: recon she will need some bricks in the base to hold 'er down
10:24 PM * rue_shop3 cuts up all the metal trying to design something on the fly
10:31 PM rue_shop3: angle iron tray in the bottom to hold briscks
10:31 PM rue_shop3: springs...
10:32 PM Tom_L: valve springs
10:32 PM Tom_L: if you can spare any off your truck
10:33 PM rue_shop3: nothing suitable, but I think if I can find some valve springs they would be about right
10:33 PM rue_shop3: :)
10:34 PM rue_shop3: (yea, you beat me to it)
