12:24 AM rue_shop4: mrdata, I got one!
12:28 AM rue_shop4: ok, its a ring oscillator, 2 stage
12:28 AM rue_shop4: it uses RC delay between the stages
12:28 AM rue_shop4: 20pf 10k
12:28 AM rue_shop4: I used a dual gang 10k pot
12:28 AM rue_shop4: I get 0.9-15Mhz out of it
12:28 AM rue_shop4: @10Mhz about 1khz drift
12:31 AM mrdata: hurray
12:33 AM mrdata: 1kHz drift is fantastic
12:41 AM rue_shop4: I'd like to stabalize it a bit more, but it looks like its workable
12:51 AM rue_: oh I'm still using ceramic caps too
12:52 AM rue_: see if I can find something better for that
01:05 AM rue_: hey so
01:06 AM rue_: I could use the DSS chip as a vco ref
01:06 AM rue_: I can make this oscillator votage controlled, thats parts of the thing I was going for
01:06 AM rue_: the dss chip I have, does have good resolution between, say 10Hz and 100Hz
01:07 AM rue_: probably even 100-1000
01:07 AM rue_: and its got an xtal ref, should be pretty damn stable
01:07 AM rue_: if I use that in a vco circuit, I should be able to get good resolution on a digitally controllable 1-10Mhz source, that would be pretty stable
01:08 AM rue_: then I can have it microcontrolled, and use a pot on an ADC channel to set the freq.
01:08 AM rue_: :D
01:09 AM rue_: or I could use a digital pot and have another microcontroller act as a controller with a pot on an adc on it
01:15 AM rue_: it LOOKS like I COULD possibly, using the dss between 10-100Hz as a pll ref, have 4Hz resolution over the 9Mhz range
01:15 AM rue_: which is insane
01:15 AM rue_: I LOVE IT
01:21 AM rue_: 8-| oooo, the DLL method could be used to make a triangle shaper thats dynamically tuned...
01:24 AM rue_: ok, then two things I want to know are: how stable is that silly little dss module. can I get that osc voltage controlled
01:27 AM rue_bed: the dss is no good as a signal source, around 10Mhz, the resolution is horrid
01:27 AM rue_bed: (just incase anyone is wondering why I didn't just use that)
01:27 AM rue_bed: gonna use up a lot of 7490 on this one
01:29 AM rue_bed: ooo
01:29 AM rue_bed: or use a big binary counter, and a rom
01:29 AM rue_bed: hmm
01:29 AM rue_bed: 10^8
01:31 AM rue_bed: no thats too hugs
01:31 AM rue_bed: huge
01:31 AM rue_bed: better off with the 7490 array
04:48 AM Jak_o_Shadows: argh. Somewhere along the line it stopped linking
05:00 AM Jak_o_Shadows: flipping makefiles
05:01 AM veverak: https://imgur.com/a/7zaJQNO
05:01 AM veverak: https://imgur.com/a/WPY9ulU
05:01 AM veverak: battery holder
05:01 AM veverak: I am satisfied :)
05:02 AM Jak_o_Shadows: there's bugger all gorram difference in the make files
05:02 AM Jak_o_Shadows: oooh, it's springy
05:03 AM veverak: yup
05:03 AM veverak: love that part :)
05:55 AM * Jak_o_Shadows sighs
05:56 AM Jak_o_Shadows: This library wants me to define a WrByte, and a blah_write_byte
05:56 AM Jak_o_Shadows: wait.
05:57 AM Jak_o_Shadows: yup, RTFM, i started implementing the wrong level one?
05:57 AM Jak_o_Shadows: I thik
06:06 AM Jak_o_Shadows: tomorrow's job
07:26 AM robotustra: M is for morning
07:35 AM Tom_itx is now known as Tom_L
08:43 AM rue_: we should move on to N
09:47 PM rue_bed: http://images.books24x7.com/bookimages/id_15239/p30001d62g770003vpp_thm.jpg
09:47 PM rue_bed: https://i.stack.imgur.com/HPbAo.gif
09:47 PM rue_bed: ok rue, get up
10:16 PM rue_shop3: I do have a complimentrary fet pair, in dip8
10:39 PM rue_shop4: I need two 20pF polyester caps
10:42 PM rue_shop4: heh could someone do me a favor and check digikey, tell me if 20p come in polyester
10:47 PM zhanx: nope
10:52 PM rue_shop4: arg
10:54 PM rue_shop4: so what it used as a stable capacitor for 20pf?
11:06 PM zhanx: ceramic it looks like
11:08 PM zhanx: Polymer, Aluminum, Ceramic., Mica, PTFE, Niobuim and Tanalum
11:36 PM rue_shop3: yea, ceramic is't the choice of those looking for thermal stability
