02:51 AM rue_bed: so, if I have a variable cap thats from <1 to 160pf, ... I should be ok
02:55 AM rue_bed: if it isn't, I'v got to have leakage capacitance throwing it off
07:24 AM To_Aru_Shiroi_Ne is now known as ToAruShiroiNeko
09:08 AM rue_: maybe if I made an oscillator not on a breadboard
09:20 AM z64555: generally a good idea, yeah
09:32 AM mrdata: high frequency oscillators can be somewhat sensitive to parasitics
09:33 AM mrdata: 1 to 10 pF is in that annoying parasitic range tho
09:33 AM mrdata: i designed a colpitts oscillator that tries to minimize that
09:34 AM mrdata: but it wasnt variable; and it is a chore to get geometry right
09:36 AM mrdata: mine was deliberately running the oscillator near the self-resonant frequency of the coil
09:36 AM mrdata: trying to make the Q factor very high ~ 1000
12:22 PM veverak: I wonder
12:22 PM veverak: should I treat triangles touching by edges as in collision?
12:26 PM Tom_L: intersecting
12:50 PM veverak: so
12:51 PM veverak: yeah, that makes sense
06:59 PM rue_bed: veverak, its a type yes, you have border, cross, and 100% match intersections
07:00 PM rue_bed: "all of it" is a collision point option
07:06 PM veverak: well, I think that I will edge intersection as not a collision
07:07 PM veverak: same goes for example for cubes -> surface intersection is not treated as collision of objects for my use case
07:08 PM veverak: P.S: it's simply replace of > with >= in collision detection, so I made that parameter of the algo
07:20 PM rue_: the difference is that one has area and the other dosnt'
10:30 PM rue_shop4: no RF oscillators working today
10:31 PM rue_shop4: why does every schematic need to use parts that aren't avialable?
10:31 PM rue_shop4: and wtf is it with caps, why do I have 5pf and not 4.7
11:11 PM justan0theruser is now known as justanotheruser
11:47 PM mrdata: rue_shop4, caps are usually 20% tolerance, and every one i measured was low
11:48 PM rue_: hmm I need a really fine LC meter
11:48 PM mrdata: so i bet if you have a bin of 5pF, some of them are close enough to 4.7
