12:15 AM rue_mohr: its slowly on its way from canada
12:29 AM Tom_L: i wonder why the log resets every midnight
12:33 AM rue_mohr: resets?
12:40 AM Tom_L: * c-log has quit IRC (Ping timeout: 244 seconds)
12:40 AM Tom_L: * c-log has joined #robotics
12:40 AM Tom_L: every night
12:41 AM rue_mohr: dunno
12:41 AM rue_mohr: what are you using?
01:01 AM rue_bed: well, I'm gonna go into vancouver tommoorw
01:01 AM rue_bed: get some solder
01:04 AM rue_bed: n visit a buddy
09:24 PM rue_mohr: ok I have solder again!
09:24 PM rue_mohr: $100 later
09:24 PM rue_mohr: (and a day)
09:30 PM rue_shop4: yay, solder
09:36 PM rue_shop4: so I can do the wiring for my 3d printer
09:36 PM Tom_L: 1lb?
09:36 PM rue_shop4: totally
09:36 PM rue_shop4: I got 3 rolls
09:36 PM rue_shop4: no more surprises
09:36 PM rue_shop4: ($75)
09:37 PM Tom_L: it went up some time back
09:37 PM Tom_L: lead anyway when RoHS was a thing
09:37 PM rue_shop4: 1lb lasts like 4 years, the last roll was stolen by a robotics kid
09:37 PM rue_shop4: so, no more robotics
09:37 PM Tom_L: strip search em
09:37 PM rue_shop4: no, I"ll just kill the kids robotics
09:38 PM rue_shop4: not into waking up early and having 1/4 my weekend eaten
09:38 PM rue_shop4: and having things stolen by kids I'm giving stuff anyhow
09:39 PM rue_shop4: I 3d printed some sip cases
09:39 PM rue_shop4: I cant remmeber what for right now, but I'm excited to make up some modules
09:39 PM rue_shop4: a sine wave osc might be fun
09:40 PM rue_shop4: dont think I can fit that in a sip
09:40 PM Tom_L: i haven't had time to do much of anything i want to lately
09:40 PM rue_shop4: family stuff?
09:40 PM Tom_L: work and that
09:41 PM Tom_L: just got home from 10 this am
09:41 PM rue_shop4: I picture you somewhere between bbq sales and retired
09:41 PM Tom_L: A) i'll likely never retire
09:42 PM Tom_L: B) i'm ready to retire right now
09:43 PM Tom_L: gonna go spend ~5 min on the mill in a bit
09:44 PM Tom_L: that'll be about an hour on it in the last couple months
09:44 PM rue_shop4: the day in vancouver was a zoo, the apple maps app no longer competently gives directions on how to get to places
09:44 PM Tom_L: did a little on it yesterday
09:44 PM rue_shop4: what part(s) you working on?
09:44 PM rue_shop4: the new controller?
09:44 PM Tom_L: that's a boat trip away for you right?
09:44 PM rue_shop4: yup
09:45 PM Tom_L: all i did was extend the slot for the vise so i can mount it on the side or in the middle
09:45 PM Tom_L: so i can cut more on the left end of it as well
09:45 PM rue_shop4: ah
09:45 PM rue_shop4: I need to finish off this printer so I can start that next mill
09:45 PM rue_shop4: *BUT* I dont know where I'm going to put it
09:45 PM Tom_L: spindle was getting pretty hot
09:45 PM Tom_L: motor
09:45 PM rue_shop4: what power is it?
09:46 PM Tom_L: 1/4" cut 1/4" deep
09:46 PM Tom_L: 600w iirc
09:46 PM rue_shop4: k, I got an elevator door motor
09:46 PM Tom_L: .6A
09:46 PM * rue_shop4 grunts
09:46 PM Tom_L: i could use one 4x that size
09:46 PM Tom_L: the mill would take it
09:46 PM rue_shop4: 1/6HP 1140rpm
09:47 PM Tom_L: this is supposed to be .6 hp i think
09:47 PM rue_shop4: 230vdc
09:47 PM Tom_L: i got 2 of em... hmm i wonder if i could hook 2 motors to the same spindle...
09:47 PM Tom_L: probably not
09:48 PM Tom_L: it was hot enough i really didn't wanna leave my hand on it
09:52 PM Tom_L: motor doesn't sound too useful
09:53 PM rue_shop4: bah, the manufacturer site is down for this motor
09:53 PM Tom_L: 1140 is kinda slow and 230v isn't normal house current is it?
09:53 PM rue_shop4: no, but its a nice size
09:54 PM rue_shop4: I wonder if I should add it to the 'attempted rewind carnage' pile
09:54 PM Tom_L: a bldc would be nice but i'm not gonna spend for one
09:54 PM rue_shop4: / the hard way /
09:54 PM Jak_o_Shadows: It's crazy reading stack overflow, all the DIY electrical americans get up to
09:54 PM rue_shop4: that hand drill motor on that last machine is working out pretty dam good
09:55 PM Tom_L: what do you mean?
09:55 PM Tom_L: the sherline motor works fine it just gets hot when i push it
09:56 PM Tom_L: and i push it because i know the mill itself will take it
09:57 PM Tom_L: i snapped a 1/4" cutter the other day by accident and the steppers didn't lose a step at all.. it didn't phase them a bit
09:57 PM rue_shop4: heh
09:58 PM Tom_L: they're running at 1/2 power too
09:58 PM rue_shop4: I had a 3d printer plough thru the tape on the bed trying to start a print
09:58 PM rue_shop4: I was really glad the thermal isolator pipe didn't break
09:58 PM Tom_L: yeah
09:59 PM rue_shop4: I have to set up a computer in the hosue to runt he printers
09:59 PM Tom_L: wonder if pc104's would work for that
10:00 PM Tom_L: i've got 4-5 of those still
10:00 PM rue_shop4: probably
10:00 PM Tom_L: i'm about to toss em out
10:00 PM Tom_L: i'll never use em
10:00 PM rue_shop4: Its sad, its a network rack, I have rack computers, THEY ARE WAY TOO LOUD
10:00 PM Tom_L: was gps for some fleet vehicles at one point
10:00 PM rue_shop4: hmm yea wrong place
10:01 PM rue_shop4: I wanted to come down this summer while on vaccation
10:01 PM rue_shop4: *sigh*
10:01 PM rue_shop4: want to go to china too
10:01 PM Tom_L: my kid has a chance to go there for free if he wins his national competetion
10:01 PM rue_shop4: I dont know what intimmidates me more
10:02 PM rue_shop4: I dont know if I'm safe driving out there and comming back
10:02 PM rue_shop4: :) its the united states and people have guns
10:02 PM Tom_L: he got 1st in the state competetion and is going to nationals this month
10:03 PM rue_shop4: I can find your place to visit, I just need to look for your tree and your basement
10:03 PM Tom_L: stay in the upper half and you're fine i think
10:03 PM Tom_L: get too close to the other border and maybe not so much
10:03 PM rue_shop4: I'd like to go visit kat, but that is prolly dangerous on lots of levels
10:04 PM rue_shop4: 1/2 the danger prolly *being* kat
10:04 PM Tom_L: they take their guns serious down there
10:04 PM Tom_L: and especially near birmingham
10:04 PM Tom_L: i won't stop there for gas
10:05 PM Tom_L: atlanta is crazy in the day
10:05 PM Tom_L: 10 lanes both sides
10:05 PM Tom_L: i hit that at rush hour once
10:05 PM rue_shop4: hmm
10:06 PM Tom_L: texas drives fast but atlanta is crazy and fast
10:07 PM rue_shop4: I hit 100km/hr with the truck going down a hill today
10:07 PM rue_shop4: OOOOOoooo
10:07 PM rue_shop4: didn't know if a wheel was going to come off
10:08 PM Tom_L: i've gone above 100mph on some trips down there
10:08 PM rue_shop4: there are no parts for my truck down here
10:08 PM Tom_L: just goin with the flow..
10:08 PM rue_shop4: thats prolly something that would be easy to find up there
10:09 PM Tom_L: i'm sure
10:09 PM rue_shop4: I need cab corners
10:09 PM Tom_L: corners?
10:09 PM Tom_L: body pannels?
10:09 PM rue_shop4: the back corners of the cab rusted thru from the inside
10:09 PM Tom_L: i had to weld up the cab mounts on mine once
10:09 PM Tom_L: yeah
10:10 PM Tom_L: i stuck a plate under it and welded it in
10:10 PM rue_shop4: its a formed corner
10:10 PM Tom_L: had to replace a couple of the screws too
10:10 PM Tom_L: oh
10:10 PM rue_shop4: I patched it with tape and paint
10:10 PM rue_shop4: did an ok job, its hard to tell
10:10 PM Tom_L: tack some sheetmetal in it
10:10 PM rue_shop4: cant form it
10:11 PM rue_shop4: its a moulded corner
10:11 PM rue_shop4: I'm supposed to be able to just buy the corners, but nobody here can get them
10:14 PM Tom_L: https://www.ebay.com/bhp/s10-cab-corner
10:14 PM Tom_L: passenger side 12 bux
10:15 PM Tom_L: hmm driver side 28
10:17 PM Tom_L: 82-93 corner set for 32
10:17 PM Tom_L: that's yours
10:19 PM Tom_L: gonna go drill n tap a hole so i can say i did something today
10:19 PM rue_shop4: $119.00
10:19 PM Tom_L: you'd probably have to pull the bed
10:20 PM rue_shop4: 32.00 $22.31 International Priority Shipping to Canada via the Glob
10:20 PM rue_shop4: Shipping:
10:20 PM rue_shop4: Does not ship to Canad
10:21 PM rue_shop4: hmm
10:21 PM rue_shop4: I dont like ebay, esp after they took my money on a sale and didn't tell the seller
11:05 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/Mill_Steel/Assembly/Final/Vise_parts/table_slot1.jpg

11:05 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/Mill_Steel/Assembly/Final/Vise_parts/table_slot3.jpg
11:05 PM Tom_L: ok at least i did _something_
11:06 PM Tom_L: now i can cut on both sides of the vise instead of just mostly on the right
11:06 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/Mill_Steel/Assembly/Final/Vise_alignment_slot.jpg
11:07 PM Tom_L: original
11:08 PM Tom_L: so i can have the vise and the plate or just the vise etc: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/Mill_Steel/Assembly/Final/Vise_parts/Speedhandle_profile.jpg
11:08 PM rue_shop4: k
11:08 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/Mill_Steel/Assembly/Final/Vise_parts/Vise3.jpg
11:08 PM Tom_L: next to make a new plastic front to fit the moved vise
11:09 PM Tom_L: i doubt ali has your truck parts
11:10 PM Tom_L: nope
11:14 PM rue_shop4: they dont do stuff like that
11:23 PM Tom_L: finally got everything (afik) fixed on the cars
11:25 PM Tom_L: my driver had to have a new fan control board, the one my kid drives needed freon and a vent control motor but it still wouldn't cool until i figured out i put too much freon in it
11:25 PM Tom_L: the diagram shows a high and low pressure sensor but apparently one does both jobs
11:26 PM Tom_L: i hate working under the dash and i don't know that much about AC
11:28 PM Tom_L: it did really odd things with too much freon in it
11:28 PM Tom_L: the fan wouldn't even run right which didn't make sense
11:28 PM Tom_L: i thought his fan control was going out too so i pulled the one from mine and tried it in his and made no difference
11:29 PM Tom_L: all cramped under the dash..
11:35 PM rue_shop4: even the S10 has been a challange, and it spacey
11:35 PM rue_shop4: ok, the meca needs 9 nav lights
11:35 PM Tom_L: i never had to do alot to mine
11:35 PM rue_shop4: 3 flashing white, 2 flashing red, 2 const white, 1 const green and 1 const red
11:36 PM * rue_shop4 casts an ear to zhanx for comments
11:42 PM rue_shop4: ok, few of these need to be 'stand alone'
11:43 PM rue_shop4: maybe I'll start with the red and green ones
11:55 PM Jak_o_Shadows: I dunno if we have a speed lmit above 70mph in the whole state
11:58 PM mrdata: probably not
11:58 PM mrdata: 55mph is a la moder
11:58 PM mrdata: s/moder/mode/
