02:04 AM Jak_o_Shadows: biological things are amazing
02:26 AM Jak_o_Shadows: I know his is pretty limited, but have ou seen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSuaykdvl4I Rue? Not many people actually get ti building their big humanoid robot
04:30 AM theBear: just incase that timeout+reconnect message was accurate, i'll repeat for yer (context probly some hours ago now <grin>)
04:30 AM theBear: wowee ! bigger and better, we can improve him, we have the technology !
04:30 AM theBear: dare i say, it sounding like rue is the hobbyking in this situation, not some .com https styled imposter guy <grin>
04:30 AM theBear: i wonder if a hobby king is anything like a hobby horse... saw some nice not-horsey things on a tv show the other day... seems that when yer wiggle them this way and that some kinda ratchetey thingers in the rollers and maybe some lever of some sneaky description makes 'em go forwards ! those boffins have done it again !
04:30 AM theBear: and that's all i got to say right now :-D
05:21 AM Jak_o_Shadows: aha
05:21 AM Jak_o_Shadows: Yeah, i disconnected for some reason. Pretty unusual that it won't reconnect after my net dies
05:58 AM Jak_o_Shadows: also, rue, did you end up getting that little radar module you were looking at ages ago?
06:09 AM Jak_o_Shadows: hmm, it wasn't radar was it
06:16 AM polprog: https://twitter.com/MachinePix/status/991737043347587072
06:16 AM polprog: nice
06:16 AM polprog: i still have all 3 drawers of my technics sets
06:18 AM Jak_o_Shadows: It was a time of flight sensor like https://www.aliexpress.com/item/GY-530-VL53L0X-laser-ranging-sensor-ToF-ranging-flight-time-ranging-sensor-module/32862057779.html?spm=2114.search0104.3.2.24fad985zAB4XR&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,
06:18 AM Jak_o_Shadows: searchweb201602_2_10152_10065_10151_10344_10068_10130_5722918_10342_5722818_10547_10343_10340_10341_10548_10698_5722618_10696_10084_10083_10618_10307_5722718_10131_10132_10133_10059_5711218_308_100031_10103_5711318_5722518_10624_10623_10622_10621_10620,searchweb201603_25,ppcSwitch_4&algo_expid=862813d1-de7b-4b89-bb1e-320ac5cd72b2-0&algo_pvid=862813d1-de7b-4b89-bb1e-320ac5cd72b2&priceBeautifyAB=0 ?
06:23 AM SpeedEvil: rue_mohr: clearly.
06:23 AM SpeedEvil: oops
06:25 AM Jak_o_Shadows: Nobody has jumped on and started making breakout boards for the A111 sensors like https://hackaday.io/project/156535-robot-radar-module guy is doing yet
06:31 AM Jak_o_Shadows: Hmm, 80 deg by 40 deg beamwidth isn't great
08:51 AM rue_mohr: Jak_o_Shadows, it was triangulation
08:52 AM rue_mohr: you need active beacons
08:58 AM rue_mohr: its intergalaxy star wars day, May the 4th be with you
08:58 AM durrf: why didnt they release solo today
07:44 PM rue_shop4: dunno
08:08 PM Jak_o_Shadows: yeah, seems a bit dumb
08:42 PM AchiestDragon: Jak_o_Shadows: in responce to your earlyer question as to how stron the liniar actuators are ,, the gearing ratios should make it about 140X stronger than the 25kg servos is was using in the last design , but friction reduces that and not mesured the actual torque of them , im building the motor drivers at the moment so should get a better idea of how they perform once i can get the thing moving
08:43 PM Jak_o_Shadows: ah, so pretty strong in other words?
08:45 PM AchiestDragon: this robot is far heavyer than the other dew to the weight of the motors anyway so hopefuly they should have enough power even though the whole robot is heavyer
08:45 PM Jak_o_Shadows: yeah.
08:45 PM Jak_o_Shadows: Speed is what I would be more concerned about
08:48 PM Jak_o_Shadows: But it's definitely pretty cool
08:48 PM AchiestDragon: ie make it bigger weighs more so needs more power ,,, as to speed runing the motors from an 11.2v battery it takes about 2 seconds to move from one extent to the other , the motor controleres will be running from about 30v and should do that in arround 1 second , at least thats the figure im hopeing for
08:50 PM AchiestDragon: arround 3 months work so far on this one
08:56 PM AchiestDragon: thinking about it i should build a mains psu for it so i can run it without batterys , for testing as then i dont have to wait a few hrs while there on charge , as a 15 to 20 min run time and only 2 lipo charges and 4 7.2v 4Ah lipos makes for a 240 min charge every 20 mins
08:57 PM AchiestDragon: 7.4v
08:57 PM AchiestDragon: plus the other one for the controls
09:22 PM Jak_o_Shadows: Yeah, That's ALWAYS a good idea
09:22 PM Jak_o_Shadows: I have a bunch of dc-dc adaptors just for that purpose
10:37 PM Jak_o_Shadows: Ok. Fixed the 3d printer extruder mount late.
10:37 PM Jak_o_Shadows: plate*. It isn't wobbilng any more
10:41 PM Jak_o_Shadows: I mean, the nozzle jammed still - too much heat going up it maybe?
10:45 PM Jak_o_Shadows: nope, there is just a gap between the top ofthe hot-end and the plastic of the extruder
11:16 PM Jak_o_Shadows: Got it working thought!
11:16 PM * Jak_o_Shadows needs to learn to let PLA stuff sit before yanking at it
