#robotics Calendar

02:14 AM rue_: heh
02:17 AM rue_: esp when you dont know how many joints are i the chain CAUSE YOU HAVN'T DESIGNED A ROBOT
02:34 AM rue_: hmm, this seems like its habbit forming
02:34 AM rue_: use the cnc machine to cut custom circuit board shapes for 3d printed cases
02:35 AM rue_: hmmm
03:10 AM rue_: "free driver" not to be mixed up with "driver free"
07:26 AM mrdata: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phaonMhOC8Q
07:26 AM mrdata: Ground Testing of Archinaut Robotic Assembly
07:28 AM z64555: no I know how many joints are in the chain, I don't know the lengths between the joints (can use program to find out) nor do I know the mass or gravity vector
07:28 AM z64555: but again I can program the controller to use it, *I* personally don't know the numbers behind it
07:29 AM z64555: Its kinda like looking at the old temperature gauges that's simply marked "C" and "H"
11:31 AM Fantonaut: how can i become a robot?
11:32 AM Fantonaut: i can calculate. and move like a robot. i have trained that with my neural network
11:36 AM rue_: stop eating, and drinking, and only sleep when thre is nothing to do and you want to dream about soemthing interesteing
11:36 AM rue_: yea, I bought the wrong ssr, now I get to wait another 3 months
11:39 AM rue_: heh, thats funny, they...
11:39 AM rue_: they kinda potted it
11:39 AM rue_: like, there is some in there
11:39 AM rue_: about 5 drops...
11:40 AM rue_: just enought o smoke er up good if she goes
11:40 AM rue_: and enoguh that I cant change resistors
04:35 PM rue_: yay!
04:35 PM rue_: the 2 stroke boat engine I got for the 12' mecha works like a sewing machine!
04:35 PM rue_: (a freaking loud one)
04:35 PM rue_: the cooling pipes are plugged up tho, need to fix that
04:35 PM rue_: yay cool
05:56 PM polprog: nice
05:57 PM polprog: got a boat or is the engine a new toy
06:43 PM rue_: I got a engine, for powering my big robot
06:43 PM rue_: its got a splie output, I need to work that out
06:43 PM rue_: spine
06:43 PM rue_: spline
06:43 PM rue_: hmm
06:43 PM rue_: anyhow, I need it to run 2 compressors and an alternator
06:44 PM rue_: zhanx, what rpm range do I need on the alternator?
06:44 PM rue_: I have no idea what this engine can do, I know 2 strokes can get scarry
06:44 PM polprog: you need to provide proper cooling on that engine if its a boating one
06:44 PM rue_: yea, water feed
06:44 PM rue_: its water cooled, how convienient is that!
06:44 PM polprog: its not air cooled but you probably know that ;)
06:45 PM polprog: oh. heh
06:45 PM rue_: its cooling routes are all plugged up tho, I'll need to do more work on it
06:45 PM rue_: the water was going thru, then it stopped
06:46 PM rue_: 8-|
06:46 PM rue_: take it all apart and clean it all out
06:46 PM polprog: its a bit of a pita to test them. we had to move a huge bucket of water to the basement once (block of flats) to test the new sparkplug after we replaced it in our boat engine
06:46 PM rue_: later, I need to work out how to make it turn an alternator
06:47 PM polprog: cya
06:47 PM rue_: I took the leg off, its just got a pipe
06:47 PM rue_: about 1/4"
06:47 PM polprog: leg is where the shaft is?
06:47 PM rue_: yea
06:47 PM rue_: I'll need to make some fancy peices, cause the exhaust and water need to be done differently
06:47 PM polprog: kewl. im not much familiar with english mech nomenclature :p
06:47 PM rue_: I can use the cnc to make a blank for casting soemthing
06:48 PM rue_: by mecha I mean
06:48 PM rue_: https://i1.wp.com/farm5.staticflickr.com/4595/38868334824_3ffe434581_z.jpg?resize=625%2C625&ssl=1
06:49 PM rue_: but fer cleaning gutters and trimming high hedges
06:49 PM rue_: and putting up street lights
06:50 PM rue_: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/robots/sparrow1/p1040018.jpg
06:50 PM rue_: the mockup shows it'll be big
06:50 PM polprog: so
06:50 PM rue_: as you can see, cleaning the gutters will be easy
06:50 PM polprog: when do you get rid of sarah connor?
06:51 PM rue_: she aint my problem, I'll just hide and let the whole thing blow over
06:51 PM polprog: and i finished the hardware parr of my first "robot"
06:51 PM rue_: my plan is to win via default
06:52 PM rue_: ok
06:52 PM rue_: do we get to see?
06:52 PM polprog: part*
06:52 PM polprog: yeah.. just a sec
06:52 PM polprog: not much to see. i have a vid where i test emil's code for the dustance sensor
06:52 PM polprog: and a couple pocs
06:53 PM polprog: pics*. actually its still on my bench with my code in...but its 0100 here and i dont feel like waking up everyone
06:54 PM polprog: https://youtu.be/pYQglmzEFKc
06:54 PM polprog: like this but the "head" is rotating 90 degrees
06:54 PM zhanx: rue_: about 1500
06:55 PM zhanx: should work as low as 700 rpm's but the output will be low
06:56 PM polprog: older pic. http://puu.sh/zkWnn/d53b20453f.jpg
06:56 PM polprog: now im writing a gui to display the distance readings on a polar plot
06:57 PM polprog: the firmware is measuring the distance, spits it out with the angle value on uart, turns one step, repeats
06:57 PM polprog: changes step direction every ~90 degrees so it doesnt tear the wires off
06:58 PM polprog: its a bit silly but im proud of it
06:58 PM polprog: on friday i managed to get GTK update a text field, triggered and given data from abother thread
06:59 PM polprog: all C/C++ on all layers :D
07:03 PM polprog: niters, im going to sleep because i wanna be sane tomorrow
