12:35 AM rue_: ok, if I order 1 $1 package from china every day, maybe I can feel out this postal problem
12:46 AM rue_bed: wait, their max capacity is 3 packages a week, I shouldn't go over that
07:30 AM timetogototime is now known as durrf
10:45 AM Burninate: What do you call / how do you design the difference between the sort of gait that RoboSimian exhibits and the sort of gait that Spot robots exhibit? The Spot series finds itself nearly all the time in dynamic (statically unstable) positions, and hitting the ground hard, that seem to require some sort of energy storage (springs? pneumatics) to do efficiently. Whereas RoboSimian is always stable, and seems like it contacts t
10:45 AM Burninate: he ground so gently that no energy is stored with foot-on-ground, so no shock is tolerable, and passing the torque limit of the motors would break the limb.
10:46 AM Burninate: Are there any broad terms that distinguish these modes?
04:48 PM BitEvil is now known as SpeedEvil
06:37 PM ace4016: Burninate, compliance comes to mind
06:44 PM malcom2073: Yeah compliant vs noncompliant actuation. Interesting side note, the robosimian limbs can be overpowered, as long as the brake is disengauged, they simply "slip"
06:45 PM malcom2073: The limb planning however assumes no compliance though, so moves are slow and deliberate
07:40 PM tttb2 is now known as tttb
11:34 PM rue_shop3: THIS AMD IS JUST ___SO___ MUCH FASTER THAN AN INTEL!
11:35 PM rue_shop3: the intel is a dual 2.8G P4, the AMD is a dual 800Mhz Turion
11:36 PM rue_shop3: never thought a 800Mhz would be faster than a 2.8G
11:37 PM rue_shop3: the intel has a 2M cache, the amd has 512k
