12:15 AM anonnumberanon: How's the progress on the mech rue?
12:18 AM anonnumberanon: I'll just leave this here..https://youtu.be/3ldJswGpkjY
12:50 AM rue_mohr: there is a lot of ground work
12:50 AM rue_mohr: its stupid to be in it
12:57 AM rue_mohr: and no force feedback..
12:59 AM rue_mohr: but that one is pretty cool
12:59 AM rue_mohr: *sigh* if I only had money
01:01 AM rue_mohr: I'm as far away from the money to do something like that as I am from having anyone to work on it with who knows the stuff
01:03 AM rue_bed: its nice to see they are using motors like that
01:03 AM rue_bed: I wonder what the ratio is between the core and the axis
01:03 AM rue_bed: sounds low, maybe 20:1
01:04 AM rue_bed: I cant afford the motors, so I'm using airmuscles, which also give me compliance
01:05 AM rue_bed: they might be using active compliance which is spooky
01:25 AM anonnumberanon: Yes same thought about the money.
01:27 AM anonnumberanon: I watched the megabots fight too i did not know that it had already happened.
01:27 AM anonnumberanon: US vs Japan
01:28 AM anonnumberanon: What motors are they using some industrial robot ones?
01:29 AM anonnumberanon: The one in that video from south korea
01:29 AM rue_bed: most of what I lack is motivation
01:29 AM rue_bed: its being hard to come by latley
01:30 AM rue_bed: anonnumberanon, oh they did that!? have to see how it went :)
01:30 AM rue_bed: I think their large brushless motors
01:31 AM rue_bed: the motors and belts look undersized, but I assume not
01:32 AM anonnumberanon: Yes it happened last month. This is the fight https://youtu.be/Z-ouLX8Q9UM
03:27 AM Jak_o_Shadows: You know that feeling when you end up designing, and desiging, and eventually deciding that it'd be far simpler to just mill it? Rather than design a part for 3d printing
03:28 AM rue_mohr: I get hit with that before I design it
03:28 AM rue_mohr: "this part is so simple I could just skip the cad and everything and just use the pendant to do it in the cnc"
03:28 AM Jak_o_Shadows: Yeah. I had just opened up CAD, then stopped
03:29 AM rue_mohr: I have a new method
03:29 AM rue_mohr: a) give up on sleeping if your not at all tired
03:30 AM rue_mohr: b) if its complex enough to need a layout, cad it, print 1:1 and do it by hand if you want
03:30 AM rue_mohr: c) if you need to make another one, take the cad you did last time to the machine
03:30 AM rue_mohr: you will hear me going on about micro-manufacturing
03:30 AM Jak_o_Shadows: Aye. Thing is, I can't be assed doing circular stuff by hand.
03:30 AM rue_mohr: I'm speaking in the reverse of mass manufacturing
03:31 AM rue_mohr: usually my things are one-off, and I'm trying to simplify the build process to that
03:31 AM rue_mohr: which means NOT spending lots of time entering objects into computer cad
03:33 AM rue_mohr: OH SWEET I'V DONE SERIAL ON A TINY26 BEFORE
04:02 AM Jak_o_Shadows: Come to think of it, I might want two of these
04:03 AM Jak_o_Shadows: Now, is it overcomplicated? yes. Not 100% fit for purpose because I forgot to design something? yes: http://pasteall.org/pic/show.php?id=120507
04:03 AM Jak_o_Shadows: It's meant to screw onto the top of a pole/broom handle/etc and support christmas lights
04:04 AM rue_mohr: I'd go for printing it
04:04 AM Jak_o_Shadows: I could feasibly replace it with two plates, and some more bolts
04:04 AM rue_mohr: whats it driving?
04:04 AM Jak_o_Shadows: aha
04:04 AM Jak_o_Shadows: It's just holding the christmas lights.
04:05 AM Jak_o_Shadows: the lights fan out, in strands
04:05 AM rue_mohr: oooh, I broke out the welder for mine
04:05 AM rue_mohr: had to 3d print shims tho
04:05 AM rue_mohr: and feet
04:05 AM Jak_o_Shadows: Don't have a welder.
04:06 AM Jak_o_Shadows: If I could be bothered, I'd use the jigsaw, cut two cutting boards up, and just drill the 12 holes
04:06 AM Jak_o_Shadows: Then something for the middle bit.
04:25 AM rue_mohr: ok, I wrote the code for a custom usb joystick NOW CAN I GO TO SLEEP
04:25 AM rue_mohr: no
04:26 AM rue_mohr: so its for an rov, I decided to take one of my old gravis joysticks and make it a serial joystick that kinda talks the same lingo as my rov controller code
04:27 AM rue_mohr: if I plug it into a PC and shovel the data to a serial port the rov is on, I should be able to drive it around
04:27 AM rue_mohr: the plan is to put an esp8266 in the way
04:27 AM rue_mohr: tho, its pouring rain, so I'm either gonna have to wait to play or make a water resistant rov
04:28 AM rue_mohr: hmm might be good practice to make stuff waterproof
04:29 AM rue_mohr: this is where having a vacuum former finished would help
04:30 AM rue_mohr: nonally is the vacuum former not finished, the parts washer isn't either
04:34 AM rue_mohr: SWEET I FOUND THE ZXCT1009 CURRENT SENSORS!
04:36 AM rue_mohr: I'm NOT going out and building it now
09:46 AM veverak: rue_mohr: ping?
09:46 AM veverak: do you have circuit for sensing servo load somewhere?
12:25 PM Tom_itx is now known as Tom_L
07:18 PM [X-Scale] is now known as X-Scale
07:53 PM [X-Scale] is now known as X-Scale
09:33 PM rue_bed: yup
09:33 PM rue_bed: in the servo technically
09:33 PM rue_bed: do you want to know polarity too?
09:41 PM rue_mohr: :( I didn't write the howto
09:41 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tutorials/elex/hobbyservo2/p1080888.jpg
09:41 PM rue_mohr: the duty of the pulse that comes off the servo after you do a position pulse, is the load % of the servo
09:42 PM rue_mohr: so, you put that circuit into the + feed of each servo
09:42 PM rue_mohr: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tutorials/elex/hobbyservo2/p1080887.jpg
09:42 PM rue_mohr: the top trace is the current detector, the bottom trace is the position pulse
09:42 PM rue_mohr: so, there, its about 60% duty
09:43 PM rue_mohr: 55?
09:43 PM * rue_mohr squints and tilts his head sideways
09:43 PM rue_mohr: oh you asked like 24 hours ago
09:43 PM rue_mohr: veverak,
09:43 PM rue_mohr: ^^
10:18 PM anonnumberanon: I want to get a gun. This one I think https://www.ebay.com/itm/1985-NES-Nintendo-Zapper-Original-Duck-Hunt-Gun-Gray/222712115208?_trkparms=aid%3D888007%26algo%3DDISC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D49477%26meid%3D362df44c461745e7ac5e9f7ba153fc63%26pid%3D100009%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D2%26sd%3D382264573819&_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982
10:40 PM rue_shop3: ok I have one
10:40 PM rue_shop3: it uses the intensity peak of the crt scan beam
10:40 PM rue_shop3: pulses when it sees the peak
10:41 PM rue_shop3: by your time int eh video signal when it happened you know where on the screen you were
10:41 PM rue_shop3: however, if that fools only asking $8 buy his
10:43 PM rue_shop3: oh god by clicking that, ebay is gonna try to hastle me about every nintendo game ever made, asking if I want to buy
10:43 PM rue_shop3: maybe I need to make a mistake during correcting my email address
10:45 PM rue_shop3: http://www.sdicmicro.com/images/apply/Digital%20DC-AC%20Voltage-Current%20Meter%20Solution06.jpg
10:45 PM rue_shop3: I love how they ground the line side and use the neutral for power
10:48 PM rue_shop3: whats REALLY interesting about those chips, is that although they have NO documented ethernet ability, you can set their IP address.....
11:04 PM z64555: its just an octet, really
11:08 PM anonnumberanon: are there DC motors that have an output shaft that goes out of the motor from each direction instead of just the common one direction?
11:08 PM anonnumberanon: like this:
11:11 PM anonnumberanon: https://imgur.com/a/pORGP
11:11 PM anonnumberanon: just drew what i mean
11:15 PM rue_shop3: no
11:15 PM rue_shop3: single sided shaft
11:15 PM rue_shop3: oh, sorry, killed te context
11:15 PM rue_shop3: they exist yea
11:23 PM z64555: I think most motors can have their shafts replaced to be dual sided
11:34 PM anonnumberanon: don't know why robot servos are not setup that way
11:34 PM anonnumberanon: seems like would be better instead of having just a bearing on the other end of the servo
11:34 PM rue_shop3: servo != motor
11:34 PM anonnumberanon: we're talking about servos now m8
11:35 PM rue_shop3: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tutorials/mech/gearbox/gearbox.html
11:35 PM rue_shop3: pff
11:36 PM rue_shop3: OH YEA
11:36 PM rue_shop3: MY ISP CABLE WORKS!
11:36 PM rue_shop3: YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
11:36 PM rue_shop3: ya just plug it into all the side terminals of a t26
11:40 PM z64555: yes, servos can be dual-sided/dual-horned
11:40 PM anonnumberanon: yeah if you make them yourself
11:41 PM z64555: I've seen one or two on model airplanes for elevator control
11:42 PM anonnumberanon: no really, like, they don't exist
11:42 PM anonnumberanon: unless you can find one?
11:46 PM rue_shop3: ok I was able to flash it, so the question is, DID I MAKE A MISTAKE
11:46 PM rue_shop3: cause I dont know if I can flash it again
