01:26 AM rue_mohr: sweet, my 2d library passed the test, the absolute positioning code works
02:18 AM rue_mohr: haha! my function for modifying the length of a lien segment works
02:20 AM rue_mohr: next I should work out perpendicular offsetting
02:26 AM rue_mohr: today I was thinking about polylines
02:26 AM rue_mohr: but, really, its just a line group, dosn't have to be connected
02:27 AM rue_mohr: polylines that are connected are just a hapenstance of the lines that were put in the group
02:56 AM rue_mohr: I'm getting ideas for my micro-manufacture equipment
09:35 AM rue_mohr: micro manufacturing
09:36 AM rue_mohr: where you have less time in part design, but you make less pieces, quantities of like, 1
09:37 AM rue_mohr: cnc as mill, with pendant control and functions like , cut circle
09:37 AM rue_mohr: specified on the spot
09:42 AM weyland|yutani: and then sell it?
09:43 AM polprog: specified on the spot
09:44 AM polprog: so a bit like wood carving?
09:44 AM polprog: do you at least make drawings :D?
09:46 AM rue_mohr: the idea is that mass manufacturing methods are inefficient for producing one-offs
09:46 AM rue_mohr: too much design time
09:46 AM polprog: that makes sense
09:46 AM polprog: sometimes i draw the schem as i put the thing together on the breadboard
09:46 AM edmoore: interactive cnc mill use is something i'm fond of too
09:47 AM rue_mohr: if you have a cnc machine that can perform mid-level fn's on the spot for you, then we seem to have come up with someting thats not mass manufacturing
09:47 AM edmoore: a lot of the older cnc controllers were better that that, with custom macros to make it easier to manually type in something
09:47 AM edmoore: thread milling or whatever
09:47 AM rue_mohr: tings like "cut a hole, here is the centre, here is the edge"
09:47 AM rue_mohr: or "cut line from here to here"
09:48 AM rue_mohr: where the positions are all input via pendant realtime
09:49 AM rue_mohr: maybe with the wheel actually being used to step thru the operation, so you can controll cut speed
09:49 AM polprog: that's cool
09:49 AM polprog: maybe i should start putting together a cnc
09:49 AM polprog: i wanted to make a plotter first
09:49 AM rue_mohr: I think a 3d printer is still a good stat
09:50 AM rue_mohr: I'v not used the mills nearly as much as the printers
09:50 AM polprog: in fact, ever since i got my first LEGO Mindstorms set when i was 10
09:50 AM polprog: i wanted to build something like a plotter, for plotting stuff with sharpies
09:53 AM rue_mohr: I need to make the computer adapter for my cnc pendant
09:56 AM rue_mohr: hmm, I see this best working for things like cutting holes
10:01 AM rue_mohr: 8-| I could make a console with 2 handwheels
10:01 AM rue_mohr: step 2 axies at the smae time
10:01 AM rue_mohr: DAMNIT FOR NOT HAVING 4 ARMS
10:01 AM squirrel1 is now known as veverak
10:05 AM polprog: well, you have 10 fingers
11:10 AM Tom_L: he used to have 12 until he got careless
11:11 AM polprog: a machinist walks into a bar, puts his hand up and says, "3 beers please"
02:31 PM z64555: thought that joke was for oil riggers
02:59 PM Miyu is now known as hackkitten
11:50 PM rue_shop3: its almost getting to the point that I should make an arduino box
11:50 PM rue_shop3: :/ so I can find the pro minis when I need them :/
11:55 PM rue_shop3: geez, I'm burnig thu pro minis like they were smarties
11:55 PM rue_shop3: where do they all go?
11:55 PM rue_shop3: oh right, 3 in ma's art, one in 3 cnc machines, 1 in the pendant, 2 setup for breadboards, one in the screw sorter...
11:59 PM Jak_o_Shadows: ok. So that LED gets hot enough to weaken hot glue
11:59 PM Jak_o_Shadows: noted
