01:00 AM Jak_o_Shadows: The last print with this spool of ABS shall be hubs for the new spool of plastic
01:06 AM mrdata_: hmm
02:18 AM Jak_o_Shadows: had about 40cm lefct
03:30 AM rue_shop3: ok
03:30 AM rue_shop3: it IS a vise
03:31 AM rue_shop3: was supposed to be 3x4, came out 3x3
03:32 AM rue_shop3: ah
03:33 AM rue_shop3: 4+3 not 4+2
03:33 AM rue_shop3: ok
03:34 AM rue_shop3: I'd give it cleanup grinding , but its 1am
07:39 AM Elleo_ is now known as Elleo
08:35 AM RahulAN: Hi all
08:35 AM RahulAN: Which motor is good for a small vehicle bot ? which can go front and back
09:34 AM deshipu: RebelCoder: every
10:45 AM z64555: You know when people know nothing about electric motors when they ask for one that can go backwards and forwards
10:47 AM Tom_itx: i want a rotational linear actuator..
10:47 AM Tom_itx: will it go fwd and rev at the same time?
10:48 AM z64555: Yes, it can stay perfectly still
11:05 AM weyland|yutani: Tom_itx, well if you add a fourth dimension it might move but not that you could observe it :D
12:06 PM rue_mohr: going how fast forwards while it goes how fast backwards?
12:06 PM rue_mohr: do you want to use analog pwm for speed control?
12:17 PM Tom_itx: you missed the point
12:17 PM Tom_itx: rotational linear actuator
12:17 PM Tom_itx: counterclockwise while moving forward :)
12:18 PM Tom_itx: think lefthand screw
12:27 PM weyland|yutani: Tom_itx, thats called rack and pinion i guess :D
01:06 PM branjb: anyone have experience with stepper motors and flyback diodes? if I'm driving the stepper motors from an IC (L6474 in this case), do I still need flyback diodes? the schematic the vendor provides for their evaluation board does not have flyback diodes, and the ds doesn't mention anything about them
01:07 PM SpeedEvil: Consider also what happens if the power goes off with the motor running
01:18 PM branjb: well, current goes to 0 and voltage goes to infinity
01:18 PM branjb: i'm just not sure if it's common for stepper drivers to deal with this internally
01:41 PM armyofevilrobots: Depends on the driver. L293D has suppression built in. Never worked with the L6474 before though.
01:42 PM armyofevilrobots: I think the A4988 (like on 3d printers) is also protected internally.
01:44 PM SpeedEvil: Unless you absolutely have to leave off the diodes, I don't see the point in it.
01:44 PM SpeedEvil: Even if there are internal diodes, it can help.
02:59 PM armyofevilrobots: rue_shop3: I am awake again now though!
04:07 PM rue_shop3: :)
06:23 PM SpeedEvil: On drones with integral self-programming vision systems that will work for peanuts: https://news.slashdot.org/story/17/10/14/020204/startup-plans-to-clean-up-cigarette-butts-using-crows
06:32 PM rue_shop3: armyofevilrobots, arg, I'm supposed to do recycling today
06:34 PM rue_shop3: you there?
08:28 PM evilroot: SpeedEvil, armyofevilrobots . . . . I think I like this channel
09:22 PM ace4016: the amount of evil in this channel is growing
09:23 PM weyland|yutani: is it?
09:31 PM Jak_o_Shadows: says the guy called weyland|yutani
09:34 PM weyland|yutani: Jak_o_Shadows, well rue_shop3 is not evil he is more like those lovecraftian beings accidently destroing another multiverse out of curiosity
11:07 PM z64555: its all a grey area, anyway
11:32 PM evilroot: MUAHAHAHA
11:32 PM * evilroot has an evil laugh
11:33 PM evilroot: I do a lot of work with industrial robotics. Out of curiosity I searched for channels mentioning robots
11:34 PM evilroot: I recognize SpeedEvil from a few other channels, hehe
11:34 PM evilroot: His evil is weak compared to my own
