12:29 AM rue_bed: I dont think its that small
12:32 AM rue_bed: hmm
12:32 AM rue_bed: so, a dc motor works for a pendant wheel sensor
12:32 AM rue_bed: need to write a new ver of my pendant software to go with that
07:48 AM veverak: hmm
07:58 AM deshipu: hmm?
08:03 AM veverak: hmm!
08:03 AM veverak: ok
08:03 AM veverak: scad -> stl -> admesh
08:03 AM veverak: still looks like garbage in rviz
08:03 AM deshipu: blender
08:05 AM veverak: deshipu: need make script
08:05 AM veverak: hmm, that should be doable with blender
08:09 AM veverak: well
08:09 AM veverak: I will disable rendering the rpi3 model I have there
09:32 AM robotustra: armyofevilrobots, how is your army?
09:56 AM rue_: armyofevilrobots, the rhino is about a 20" reach isn't it?
09:57 AM robotustra: hi rue_
09:58 AM rue_: hi\
09:59 AM robotustra: how are your robotic projects ?
09:59 AM rue_: progressing, been working on tools
10:00 AM rue_: I think I worked out using a dc motor as a wheel encoder for a cnc pendant, which is pretty cool considering the price difference
10:00 AM rue_: off to work, bye!
10:03 AM robotustra: you really like to scratch the bottom
10:03 AM robotustra: why don't you buy ready solutions out of box?
11:11 AM armyofevilrobots: @robosutra army is slowly being upgraded. New linear rails for the 4’x4’ CNC router :D
11:13 AM robotustra: what are you planning to cut so big?
12:07 PM deshipu: coffins
12:30 PM robotustra: ^:)
01:52 PM armyofevilrobots: We build a lot of stuff on the cnc router, some signage, some metal, some cabinetry… just tons of different things.
01:53 PM armyofevilrobots: I actually kinda wish I had originally built it 5x10 feet so that I could fit a full sheet of baltic birch AND/OR a full 4x8 sheet of mdf or whatever.
01:53 PM armyofevilrobots: The linear rail upgrade is to stiffen it up so that I can do more aluminum, and so that it can run 8 hrs a day.
03:03 PM beanbag-: you know rue* we would love to see you and others in ##electronics
03:03 PM beanbag-: you don't have to stay alone in here
03:03 PM beanbag-: CANUCK
03:06 PM weyland|yutani: nah then its harder to follow his monologues
03:30 PM mumptai: weyland|yutani, sounds like someone should setup a irc bot to channel his prose into a blog?
03:31 PM beanbag-: weyland|yutani, he doesn't deserve to sit and die alone in a empty irc channel
03:32 PM beanbag-: we have had fallings out in the past yrs, but I don't want another lilo on my hands
03:32 PM beanbag-: I can never resolve that
03:32 PM beanbag-: having a fight then he dies
03:32 PM Tom_L: hey jason
03:32 PM beanbag-: tom_itx?
03:33 PM Tom_L: yes flyback
03:33 PM beanbag-: hi
03:33 PM beanbag-: ltns
03:33 PM Tom_L: been right here
03:34 PM beanbag-: yeah well you know I couldn't join
03:34 PM Tom_L: no
03:34 PM beanbag-: how you been?
03:34 PM Tom_L: doing more cnc and cad lately
03:34 PM beanbag-: cool
03:35 PM beanbag-: I haven't done anything, been working o n cleaning out the basement mabye move eventually
03:35 PM beanbag-: been finding stuff from my childhood though
03:35 PM beanbag-: abandoned pumping sites etc
03:35 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Control2.jpg
03:35 PM Tom_L: built that for the cnc
03:35 PM beanbag-: im losing what's left of my top teeth in a month, very depressed
03:35 PM Tom_L: drugs?
03:35 PM beanbag-: very cool
03:35 PM beanbag-: no
03:36 PM beanbag-: mabye redbull damage + genetics + gum disease made them loose which makes them prone to breakage
03:36 PM beanbag-: I wish I could blame on drugs, but none ever
03:36 PM Tom_L: ahh yeah, that was pepsi
03:36 PM beanbag-: ?
03:37 PM Tom_L: pretty sure he was the druggie
03:37 PM beanbag-: how is he these days
03:37 PM Tom_L: dunno
03:37 PM beanbag-: last I knew he was doing coding for some company
03:37 PM beanbag-: he was drug free
03:37 PM Tom_L: last i heard he was back in chicago
03:38 PM Tom_L: pharmaceutical company making pumps or something
03:38 PM beanbag-: you should hang in ##electronics it's lighten up the last few yrs
03:38 PM beanbag-: uh
03:38 PM beanbag-: is it your cam or are those caps smashed
03:39 PM Tom_L: huh?
03:39 PM beanbag-: they look dented
03:39 PM beanbag-: in the ccn
03:39 PM beanbag-: cnc
03:39 PM Tom_L: oh, that's how they are
03:39 PM beanbag-: ah ok
03:39 PM Tom_L: those and the transformers were surplus
03:40 PM Tom_L: they all measured around 3300
03:40 PM beanbag-: cool
03:40 PM Tom_L: ~18A @ 48v
03:40 PM beanbag-: nice
03:41 PM beanbag-: nice transformers I have a few like that from a copy machine
03:41 PM beanbag-: one is 120v in 110v out I think it's limiting voltage for the heater and also to provide isolation
03:42 PM Tom_L: likely where those came from
03:42 PM beanbag-: and another is 120 to 110, 26.5, 13.x, 9v
03:42 PM beanbag-: something liek that
03:45 PM beanbag-: I haven't seen thebear around in a while, did something happen?
03:45 PM Tom_L: he comes and goes
03:45 PM Tom_L: he's logged in
03:45 PM beanbag-: ok
03:49 PM beanbag-: I dunno if I will ever get into any projects like you guys, I run into too many other things in life that came up and if I have to move eventually I might just decide to toss shit
03:49 PM beanbag-: we will see
03:49 PM beanbag-: plus my body is failing it feels like
03:49 PM beanbag-: I will send you pics of my urban exploring once I sort it
03:49 PM Tom_L: you're too young for that aren't you?
03:50 PM beanbag-: you might find it slightely fascinating
03:50 PM beanbag-: 43
03:56 PM beanbag-: message me once in a while so I don't forget about you :)
03:56 PM beanbag-: this is my work nick btw, not bad evading
04:49 PM Cracki_: cheers. looking for cheap/used wave drives for up to ~100 Nm, thinking of wanting to build a small robotic arm
04:52 PM Cracki_: *strain wave gearing seems to be the proper term
05:01 PM beanbag-: later Tom_L, peace out
05:50 PM Tom_L: Cracki_ you mean harmonic drive?
05:50 PM Cracki_: yes
05:51 PM Tom_L: not cheap
05:51 PM Cracki_: aye
05:51 PM Cracki_: would have 3d printed it in cheap plastic if I had easy access to a printer...
05:51 PM Tom_L: thingiverse has a plastic one
05:51 PM Cracki_: no need, I could construct one.
05:52 PM Tom_L: the local vo-tech has plastic to print drive belts
05:52 PM Cracki_: but I'm thinking plastic will fatigue soon
05:52 PM Tom_L: apparently fairly strong and flexible
05:52 PM Cracki_: the basic makeup is a geared metal cup that has to endure the deformation
05:53 PM Cracki_: I'd prefer the thing to be rigid, torsion-wise... but it's not super important
05:54 PM Cracki_: I'm more after the high gear ratio it gives me... would wanna use it for step-free pan+tilt of a camera
05:56 PM Tom_L: what about ring & pinion
05:56 PM Tom_L: or such
05:56 PM Tom_L: worm drive
05:56 PM Cracki_: perhaps
05:56 PM Cracki_: currently doing 8:1 reduction with gt2 gears and belt.
05:57 PM Cracki_: I don't like having to deal with slip of gears
05:57 PM Cracki_: I know of spring-preloaded gears and such (saw that in desktop inkjet printers)
05:58 PM Cracki_: harmonic drive probably has that too, so... eh I don't know, I just wish I could play with that more cheaply
06:00 PM Cracki_: dear god the roughness of the stuff on thingiverse! I'd construct that from scratch
06:00 PM Tom_L: grabcad might have a model
06:01 PM Cracki_: looking at some used/new parts from ebay... one was rated at 90 rpm
06:02 PM Cracki_: not sure about the reduction ratio...
06:04 PM Cracki_: just saw a video where someone made a really simple design and used wide timing belt
06:04 PM Tom_L: usually pretty high on a hd
06:07 PM Tom_itx: https://grabcad.com/library/harmonic-drive-csf-20-xxx-2uh-1/details?folder_id=813005
06:12 PM Cracki_: :D nope not gonna print that
06:12 PM Tom_L: machine it :)
06:13 PM Tom_L: rue'll print ya one
06:14 PM Tom_L: looks like a nice set of files though
06:17 PM Cracki_: planetary gears might be an option for me... eh, the hardware I have is good enough already. I should work on higher functions
11:34 PM rue_shop3: so, differential output amplifiers are pretty pricey
11:34 PM rue_shop3: and making ones own is a challange in balancing
11:34 PM rue_shop3: so, I wont amplify the motor signal for the control wheel
11:42 PM timetogototime is now known as durrf
