12:47 PM anniepoo: neat
12:49 PM anniepoo: I gotta say, Rue, it's a lovely world that has someone who has a little life goal "remove at least one thing from the medical machine on the deck, per day"
01:10 PM Snert__: I picture this big medical machine sitting out on the deck.
01:11 PM Snert__: maybe a kidney dialysis setup
01:39 PM Snert__ is now known as Snert_
06:30 PM anniepoo: I'm going to use an adafruit capacitive touch detector for touch sensing
06:31 PM anniepoo: I have some copper mesh, knitted, roughly .8 mm wide ribbon strands, woven into a loose knit mesh, on about 6mm spacing
06:32 PM anniepoo: I'd like to go ahead and glue that in place, but am unsure it'll work. I'm 90% sure, that's not enough to irrevocably
06:32 PM anniepoo: glue inside the shell
06:35 PM anniepoo: so I'm wondering if anybody has experience with these sorts of capacitive touch sensors
06:51 PM SpeedEvil: As long as you have no other conductive material in the area, once you're a mesh-width away fromthe conductor, it'll look solid
06:57 PM SpeedEvil: Also, you could if you wanted to be 100% sure, glue some foil over top
07:20 PM rue_shop3: Snert, steograph machine I think
07:20 PM rue_shop3: stenograph
07:21 PM rue_shop3: anniepoo, human-machine capacitor or machine-machine capacitor
07:21 PM zhanx: anniepoo: i have. but i have not glued it into place.
07:22 PM zhanx: i did 4 corner analog read on it, and use it as a mouse for the kids a while back till they killed it
07:22 PM anniepoo: human_machine capacitor
07:22 PM anniepoo: zhanx, what did you make the electrode from?
07:23 PM anniepoo: Speed, thanks
07:23 PM zhanx: fine copper mesh cloth
07:23 PM anniepoo: think you answered that
07:23 PM anniepoo: nice!
07:23 PM anniepoo: ok, sounds like I'm good
07:24 PM zhanx: yes but i never glued it so not sure if that will toss the readings off
07:24 PM anniepoo: I'm using RG-174 coax for the wiring so it won't detect on the wire back to the detector board
07:24 PM anniepoo: it's on the back side of the shell
07:24 PM zhanx: ok i used coax for it
07:24 PM anniepoo: if it works thru the shell outta be fine with glue
08:17 PM rue_house: ok i need to go take a scerw out of a machine on the deck
08:30 PM rue_shop3: ok I got a bridge rectifier, and without having to remove more than 1 screw, also got a nice peice of rainbow ribbon cable
08:47 PM rue_house: Jak_o_Shadows, hey, I got a servo control working with the force measurement
08:47 PM rue_house: for the stm32
09:08 PM anniepoo: 8cD
09:08 PM anniepoo: whoot!
09:08 PM anniepoo: I gotta get bac to stm32 playing
09:14 PM anniepoo: headed for food and home
09:16 PM SpeedEvil is now known as Guest17570
10:57 PM rue_house: oooooooooooh I gotta order plastic BUT WHAT COLOURS!!!!
10:58 PM rue_house: anniepoo, what colours?!
11:11 PM Tom_itx: flourescent orange
11:17 PM rue_house: ok 3 rolls, $100
11:17 PM rue_house: white for jester, black and purple for me
11:32 PM rue_house: gee, I'm getting lots of old spools of plastic stacking up
11:33 PM rue_house: I'v got two rolls of "oops" ABS
11:33 PM rue_house: maybe I should just try to print wit them dispite not having a heated bed
11:34 PM youngiif: you can always ship them out to some of your irc friends :-p
11:37 PM rue_house: I got one of them to use
11:37 PM rue_house: the other was a type screwup
11:37 PM rue_house: cause amazon gets confused if you try to search for more than 3 keywords at ocne
11:38 PM youngiif: yeah. so what's your favorite material to print with
11:40 PM BitEvil is now known as SpeedEvil
11:43 PM rue_house: no heated bed, I always print with pla
11:44 PM rue_house: I'v not even dared to try the abs I have
11:44 PM rue_house: but I think I should
11:44 PM rue_house: on a small part anyhow
11:45 PM youngiif: yeah I think you can pull it off
11:46 PM rue_house: I have this burning temptation to try to get an stm32 to control a silly number of servos at once
11:46 PM youngiif: what number do you call silly
11:46 PM rue_house: 64+
11:47 PM youngiif: ah wow, do you have an application for them, or just for fun
11:47 PM rue_house: just for fun
11:47 PM rue_house: I have an 8 servo controller that I use, 4 of them can be ganged up on a single serial bus
11:48 PM rue_house: its based on a arduino pro mini, it has awesome resolution
11:48 PM rue_house: rock solid timing
11:48 PM rue_house: I think its slightly better than 12 bits
11:48 PM youngiif: ah nice, are you using it for anything
11:48 PM rue_house: yes, my robot arms
11:49 PM youngiif: got any pics you can share? is it personal projects or work related?
11:50 PM rue_house: arm7, 8, 9, and 10 specifically
11:50 PM rue_house: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/robots/
11:51 PM rue_house: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/robots/armcontroller/slide.htm realtime controller
11:53 PM rue_house: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/robots/robots2.html <-- geez, I need to do a major update
11:54 PM youngiif: man, you should start a youtube channel and show your stuff off, if you don't already have one
11:56 PM rue_house: https://www.youtube.com/user/ruenahcmohr
11:57 PM youngiif: (there goes my night)
