12:14 AM rue_shop3: that said, I'm going to get a screw
12:24 AM rue_shop3: ok I got out a whole syringe control unit
12:58 AM rue_house: 3 machines running, I give up for the day
09:44 AM rue_house: anniepoo, the first part of the screw car is looking plausable
09:49 AM rue_house: armyofevilrobots, you wouldn't happen to need a 1/4" ER16 collette would you?
10:12 AM Anniepoo__: cool -
10:12 AM Anniepoo__: plans?
01:55 PM Miyu is now known as hackkitten
05:46 PM zhanx: Afternoon

07:14 PM zhanx: heart attack left overs?
07:15 PM rue_house: \:-| I had a heart attack already?
07:15 PM Sol is now known as Guest3413
07:15 PM zhanx: unless you managed to stress your body in another way to produce it
07:16 PM rue_house: 8-|
07:17 PM Tom_itx: rue_house, how do i access those image files?
07:17 PM zhanx: its also caused by some muscle deises but i am not a doc
07:17 PM rue_house: hmm
07:18 PM zhanx: wow i mispelled that
07:18 PM rue_house: well I'll see my doc, sounds like its a sign *something* is going on
07:18 PM rue_house: Tom_itx, did you get it from safecopy?
07:18 PM zhanx: yes it does as i doubt you just did a 40 mile forced march with 45 kilos on your back
07:18 PM Tom_itx: i did the cat line you gave me
07:18 PM rue_house: but you said the cat line didn't work
07:19 PM rue_house: did it make a ~400G file?
07:19 PM Tom_itx: i got 19.6 G file
07:19 PM Tom_itx: 2 of em
07:19 PM Tom_itx: ck garfield
07:20 PM Tom_itx: i didn't run safecopy
07:20 PM rue_house: we need to run safecopy
08:30 PM rue_house: ok, the reel-reel tape player went back
08:51 PM theBear: aww man ! who am i gonna coach in long-dead arts of service and maintenance now !?!?!?!
08:51 PM rue_shop3: :/
08:56 PM theBear: that's ok.... i still got at least a couple of my own.. and that 1/4" 8track "portable" sucker with the smpte/ltc<>mtc timecode option stuck on the back, and the big bright sexy remote-able transport controls/display thinger is more than enough reel2reel maintenance fer any retired young tech... not a lotta room in 1/8*1/4 err = 1/32th of a " to get audio signals, let alone fancy schmancy static/modem-ized smpte'ths of a second of timing info on an
08:56 PM theBear: outside track <grin>
09:01 PM rue_shop3: heh
09:04 PM theBear: i think one of these days i'll just lay as much timecode across a tape as i can get into the sucker, then have it just sitting kinda nearby a music-ey kinda 'puter, tracking any timecode-ish stuff going on at any given time, effectively making it seem to be whizzing this way and that on some mysterious errands only it knows about, much like the machines in old movies with computers in them did.... you know, the kinda computers where you don't just
09:04 PM theBear: need a labcoat and a pocket protector and coke-bottle goggles to run the suckers, but a team of people fitting that description, and a small warehouse of some kind to do it all in :)
09:16 PM * rue_house oogles over his 1000 1k resistors
09:17 PM Tom_itx: smt?
09:17 PM rue_house: hell no
09:17 PM rue_house: I ahve 10000 of those
09:17 PM Tom_itx: you could sneeze and they'd all dissappear
09:17 PM rue_house: no, reel
09:18 PM Tom_itx: 24.1g now
09:18 PM rue_house: yep
09:18 PM rue_house: any more faults?
09:19 PM Tom_itx: i dunno what the * + mean in the log file
09:19 PM rue_house: different status
09:19 PM Tom_itx: so far it's still running
09:19 PM rue_house: yea, io errors wont phase it
09:20 PM Tom_itx: i had a dos tool that did that way back..
09:20 PM rue_house: checkdisk?
09:20 PM Tom_itx: mace gold maybe
09:20 PM Tom_itx: i don't recall
09:20 PM theBear: whaddo i look like, pat cash ?
09:21 PM zhanx: Tom_itx: what is the backup at 66 gig?
09:21 PM rue_house: theBear, you designing 3d objects for printing yet?
09:21 PM Tom_itx: z, ^^
09:22 PM zhanx: oh read back sorry
09:22 PM zhanx: the * + is a fault with a minor fix, rue will help you fix it right
09:23 PM zhanx: * - is a major i/o error
09:23 PM Tom_itx: haven't seen any - yet
09:24 PM zhanx: that is a bonus
09:25 PM Tom_itx: uh oh
09:25 PM Tom_itx: 85 errors 5570kb on that one
09:25 PM rue_house: yup
09:25 PM zhanx: it will keep going
09:25 PM rue_house: I'll show you how to test the drives you get to know if they are worth more than the $3 you paid for them
09:29 PM theBear: johnny mac perhaps ? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xHPNwBbo46s does that look like me to you ?
09:30 PM Tom_itx: what's the ipos and opos?
09:31 PM theBear: the who and the what s?
09:32 PM rue_house: input and output operations?
09:38 PM rue_shop3: anniepoo, what if I just use the cnc or printer to make a rack drive?
09:38 PM rue_shop3: use rack and pinion
10:33 PM rue_house: anniepoo, you still alive?
11:09 PM Tom_itx: this could run a couple days
11:09 PM Tom_itx: 37G right now
11:20 PM armyofevilrobots: @rue_house I think I have a box of er16 collets actually.
11:20 PM armyofevilrobots: which is funny, coz I don’t have a matching spindle.
11:22 PM theBear: that's what she said ? heh, no need to say it out loud, i know yer missed me <grin>
11:29 PM rue_shop3: armyofevilrobots, hah, I did a "repayment, dont ship" and they sent me an er16
11:29 PM rue_shop3: !!$!$^?!#%?#%
11:29 PM rue_shop3: anyhow
11:29 PM rue_shop3: the listing was for ER11 anyhow
11:31 PM rue_shop3: did you get that power blink a few mins ago?
11:31 PM rue_shop3: theBear, you gonna design 3d stuff?
11:31 PM rue_shop3: armyofevilrobots, ^
11:36 PM theBear: rue_shop3, i dunno, i busy just ya know, staying 1st-world around the flat at the moment, and i still ain't real comfortable with bender, or err, girder, or wtf it was called when i played with it fer an hour around a decade ago <grin>
11:36 PM theBear: i'm real good at 2d cad, if ya know, you need any architectural or mechanical stuff drawn up <grin>
11:37 PM rue_shop3: yea
11:37 PM rue_shop3: I use 2d cad and make extrusions
11:37 PM rue_shop3: have librecad?
11:38 PM theBear: i dunno, maybe
11:39 PM * rue_shop3 nudges bear to get librecad installed
11:39 PM rue_shop3: cmon, I'll walk you thru a quick 3d object
11:41 PM theBear: nah maaaan, unless that object is a rightangle sata->sata thinger to fit in this here laptop, and by walk thru you mean magically remote-solder and generally make for me in the next 20 mins <grin> either way it's kinda moot until i build a printer, or get back on buddybuddy terms with a friends cousin near here who apparently got one of them off-the-shelf ones a while back
11:42 PM rue_shop3: cmon cmon, get librecad installed, I'll do all the work, just follow me along for a while
11:42 PM rue_shop3: think of it as an interactive movie
11:44 PM theBear: orright, few seconds and it'll be installing magically without me having to worry fer a bit :)
11:48 PM theBear: wtf ? regular healthy soft-area (long disused bed/doona) migration is one thing, but i appear to have misplaced a whole in-pieces waiting-for-DEEP-mobo-surgery(last-ditch make or break style) quite recent/high spec lappy entirely ! heh
11:49 PM theBear: hmm, do i want the docs for this thing ? meh, they got a website, i live dangerously :)
11:49 PM rue_shop3: no
11:49 PM rue_shop3: its a 2d cad program, you can finger it out
11:49 PM rue_shop3: and you can always ask me
11:55 PM rue_shop3: theBear, hows install going?
11:56 PM theBear: mmm, 2d is easy, i can do that... i spose i can do basic straight rightangle kinda extrudering too, did a little when i was doing a lotta building and studio kinda design way back, ya know, basic 3d models of the 2d plans, for fun mostly... i just get kinda bogged down/stuck/need-learning when i try to do things like flip snap/guide/fixed-axis for the 3rd (or more i spose, well ya know, more than just the perpendicular up from a 2d cad plane, angles
11:56 PM theBear: and such) dimension
11:56 PM rue_shop3: I'll take you for a walk thru it
11:56 PM rue_shop3: got librecad?
11:56 PM theBear: umm, all 4 cores humming away, qt4 libs looking quite happy, all kinds of fancy modern times sse this and that and cache-aligned variables/data stuff going on :-)
11:57 PM * rue_shop3 cant resolve that to a binary answer
11:57 PM rue_shop3: after you have librecad, get openscad
11:58 PM theBear: i'm pc with a rice-burner 'member ? <grin> don't worry, it'll be done soon, and it makes me happy... lets me have a holistic approach to all my computering, from little avrs and such, all the way thru various modems and routers and pcs and rare-arch's, osx, even windows builds if i cared to make 'em, god forbid <grin>
11:58 PM rue_shop3: tell me when ya got those
11:58 PM theBear: ooh "The Programmers Solid 3D CAD Modeller" sounds fancy
11:58 PM rue_shop3: I got example files for you
11:58 PM theBear: hmm, do i want opencascade too ?
11:58 PM rue_shop3: no
11:59 PM rue_shop3: just openscad
11:59 PM theBear: very good
