02:00 AM rue_house: well I'm feeling glad, did a cnc project, havn't been at that for a while
02:32 AM rue_bed: I havn'tbeen making much of anyhing in the shop
02:32 AM rue_bed: made the parts cleaner...
02:32 AM rue_bed: been chewing on the pipe bender a bit
03:01 AM rue_bed: I JUST found out where my package has been for 7 months
03:01 AM rue_bed: http://www.gifbin.com/984507
03:03 AM hypodyne: lol.. i bet theres a tuna inside
03:18 AM anonnumberanon: rue_bed, the personnel that check the assembly lines are not what they used to be
05:20 AM rophasma: @rue_bed, what sort of stuff are you ordering from aliexpress?
07:52 AM nnumerals is now known as solol
07:55 AM nnumerals is now known as solol
08:46 AM rue_bed: chips, transistors, bits, leds
08:48 AM rophasma: do you buy wire there too? If so, which wire do you use for repetitive movement applications?
08:52 AM z64555: probably standed wire
08:52 AM * z64555 is unhelpful
08:54 AM rophasma: @z64555, yeah there are tons of choices within that group, I'm just looking to see what others use
09:15 AM rue_house: no I have more thatn enough wire
09:25 AM rue_house: for cables that have to move a LOT, laminated ribbon cable is what I'd suggest
09:27 AM rophasma: what about for higher amperage needs? driving a 15A motor for example
09:27 AM z64555: more ribbons
09:29 AM rue_house: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/projects/reprap2/p1080530.jpg
09:29 AM rue_house: install better than I did!
09:29 AM rue_house: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/projects/reprap2/p1080529.jpg
09:29 AM rue_house: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/projects/reprap2/p1080528.jpg
09:30 AM rue_house: there should be bend-control
09:30 AM rophasma: ahh that makes sense
09:31 AM rophasma: thanks for sharing the pics
09:31 AM z64555: letsee, each conductor (30AWG) can carry 1A safely up to around 80*C
09:32 AM z64555: accroding to some data from 3M
09:32 AM z64555: http://multimedia.3m.com/mws/media/920107O/3m-tech-brief-current-rating-of-common-3mtm-flat-ribbon-cable.pdf
09:32 AM rophasma: yeah I think that would work for me
09:32 AM z64555: If you have only have a few servos, you can double or tripple up the conductors to each servo
09:33 AM z64555: just remember that the ground should be the sum of all supply conductors!
09:33 AM rophasma: yeah

10:15 AM SpeedEvil: (three part webinar)
01:11 PM codepython7771: Anyone has any pointers for me for a high speed linear actuator? (50lb capacity) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bh5q1eW_LSc
01:23 PM JT-Shopp: tolomatic
02:35 PM SpeedEvil: How high speed
02:36 PM SpeedEvil: 25kg*1m/s = 250W motor power, for example - minimum.
02:40 PM codepython7771: SpeedEvil: Thanks.
02:40 PM SpeedEvil: I have been idly wondering about a tensile really high speed actuator.
02:41 PM SpeedEvil: Basically a toothed belt, running past a powered cog, onto a lightly powered take-up reel.
02:53 PM codepython7771: SpeedEvil: seems like the tolomatics are around $3k - 100in/sec - upto 500lb load - pretty impressive
02:54 PM SpeedEvil: yes. I'd like something that performs several times better than muscle per kilo, and is reasonably cheap
03:10 PM codepython7771: SpeedEvil: perhaps you want to try ebike motors? :)
03:11 PM SpeedEvil: Something broadly similar, yes
06:23 PM Rez is now known as LoRez
07:48 PM rue_house: hah, now I'm getting things from china I didn't order
07:48 PM rue_house: an ER16 collette
07:48 PM rue_house: 1/4"
07:49 PM rue_house: !?!??!?!?!!
07:49 PM rue_house: I searched, I didn't order this...
07:49 PM Snert_: 12 beers and a mouseclick. Yep :)
07:50 PM rue_house: no, I checked the purchase history, up, down, and sideways
07:50 PM rue_house: Id idn't order an ER16 collette, all the collettes I'v ordered have arrived...
07:51 PM rue_house: none were resent..
