12:02 AM Jak_o_Shadows: yup.
12:08 AM Jak_o_Shadows: I'm not screaming with frustration, you are
12:34 AM rue_house: hehe
12:34 AM rue_house: I know an alighment error when I hear it
12:34 AM rue_house: but I dont knwo where my goggles are
01:39 AM rue_shop3: looks like I can strip 2 or 3 boards in 40 mins
02:42 AM Sol is now known as Guest65821
02:55 AM The_Jester: greets
02:59 AM aberon: hi
03:00 AM The_Jester: hows it going?
03:02 AM rue_house: well
03:02 AM rue_house: I must be at about 30 power supplies stripped down now
03:02 AM rue_house: I'm atlmost at the 2nd to last layer of box 1/4
03:02 AM rue_house: there is 1.8 pails of components
03:03 AM rue_house: and I'm not being pickey
03:03 AM rue_house: if its got bent leads or glue, I'm usually not even bothering
03:03 AM rue_house: I'v gone thru about 10 soldering gun tips
03:04 AM The_Jester: wow
03:04 AM rue_house: I'm rotating 2 guns cause I'm over duty on them
03:04 AM rue_house: the compressor is keeping up :)
03:05 AM The_Jester: it will be nice when that moutain of power supply boards is gone i guess
03:05 AM rue_house: ;) so next time you need a mid sized heatsink eh?
03:05 AM rue_house: I'm trying
03:05 AM rue_house: like I say, I'm not done 1 box yet, I been at it all day
03:05 AM The_Jester: whats the word on the sprayer front?
03:05 AM rue_house: it took 22 boards just to get to the TOP of the first box
03:05 AM The_Jester: ive been printing non stop for days
03:05 AM rue_house: they dont talk much, sean came by and we took a quick inventory
03:06 AM rue_house: need lots more cnc'd parts
03:06 AM rue_house: sweet
03:06 AM rue_house: designing your own stuff? or making up the parts for the cnc?
03:07 AM The_Jester: been running at around 30-45% and getting phenominal print quality
03:07 AM rue_house: yup
03:07 AM The_Jester: cnc parts
03:07 AM rue_house: do you know garry the plumber?
03:07 AM rue_house: dont know if you met
03:08 AM rue_house: he's got my milling machine at his place
03:08 AM The_Jester: printed al the gears, that was like 10 hours, bed mounts another 7 and im onto the left frame side which is projected at 14 hrs..lol
03:08 AM rue_house: you should grab one of the ups' I have here
03:09 AM The_Jester: Def
03:09 AM rue_house: did you get taht outage last week or so?
03:09 AM The_Jester: my thought is we should be able to fget these little pcb mills to cut alum blanks
03:10 AM rue_house: mhm
03:10 AM rue_house: I'd have built another machine if not for lack of space
03:11 AM corey is now known as Guest53931
03:12 AM Guest53931: geez
03:13 AM rue_house: ok, back to it
03:13 AM Guest53931: have fun
03:18 AM rue_shop3: to put it in perspective, the first component bucket is 6kg
04:04 AM rue_shop3: I can see most of the bottom of the box
04:38 AM rue_shop3: awe damn
04:38 AM rue_shop3: the bucket is full, I cant start antoher one
04:39 AM rue_shop3: (supply, I have no more buckets for parts around)
04:41 AM rue_shop3: 35 power supply pcb
04:41 AM rue_shop3: s
04:41 AM rue_shop3: ~12kg of components
04:43 AM rue_house: 16 hours
04:48 AM aberon: hue
04:48 AM aberon: ping
04:48 AM rue_shop3: just as well I suppose, my back cant take anymore right now
04:57 AM rue_shop3: ok, the box of solinoids was overflowing, then I added to it
04:58 AM rue_shop3: I dont think there is a word for its current state
05:00 AM rue_shop3: based on projections of component volume from the 7/8 of a box of board I'v just stripped, and looking around the shop at the number of boards I have...
05:00 AM rue_shop3: I have a problem
05:13 AM rophasma2: Maybe this is a stupid question, but assuming you wanted to use a steel roller bearing for linear motion along a rail, and you wanted to 3d print a mount to connect to the bearing, how would you make that connection? With metal you could cool the shaft and press bearing on. Would you just print a larger shaft and force bearing on, or is there some more common trick here?
05:15 AM rue_shop3: I might make a tube with a plate on the top, where the tube fit the bearing, and internal C clips held the bearing in
05:16 AM rophasma2: Yeah that makes sense. I'm trying to put together a small scale demo so printing everything I can, but thought using real bearings would help and just couldn't think of a good way to get the connection
06:52 AM rue_house: its 4am
06:52 AM rue_house: I'v gone thru the buckets a few times
06:52 AM rue_house: by removing all the heatsinks, and picking out all the transformers, I'v got it down to 1 bucket
06:53 AM rue_house: but going thru it a bit I realized that almost none of the bins I have for the parts in it are large enough to accomidate whats there, less the 4 1/8 boxes I have left
06:53 AM rue_house: :S
06:54 AM rue_house: thats LOTS of parts
07:02 AM rophasma2: hoarders, buried alive, eh?
07:53 AM hypodyne: hey all..
07:54 AM hypodyne: anyone built an animation system?
07:54 AM hypodyne: as in I am doing virtual robots
07:57 AM hypodyne: I see you in a few rooms ToAruShiroiNeko here and there
08:16 AM synja: what do you mean animation system, hypodyne?
08:51 AM ToAruShiroiNeko: hypodyne that is correct :)
08:59 AM hypodyne: I found a video I am watching https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drJ4YQHKc3Q
09:00 AM hypodyne: something like XNA that I can use instead of UWP..
09:01 AM hypodyne: which are basically animation frameworks.
09:02 AM hypodyne: because my virtual robot can't move like I want her too.
09:17 AM z64555: solidworks might have animation tools in it, if not, then you can use a 3D animation software such as blender
09:18 AM z64555: Blender has a python scripting system to where you can control the bone positions, velocity, etc. but it's something of a roundabout solution
09:19 AM ToAruShiroiNeko: yeah, I am not much of an animation person myself
09:20 AM hypodyne: yeah.. I can't use most things in a uwp app, its either the uwp system, which I already done (and it sucks). Win2D which is what I have to build the animation system for. or unity which is not free as far as i know.
09:20 AM z64555: o.0
09:21 AM z64555: Unity should have a freeware license
09:21 AM z64555: I have a friend that's familiar with it, lemme ask him
09:21 AM hypodyne: video of my robot https://youtu.be/cgZQp8zUOvM?list=PLRtAn3khoqywTznsiC5-R0NSQcTHvd7fH
09:21 AM z64555: assuming I can get ahold of him at this hour -_-
09:22 AM hypodyne: well I might call back tomorrow, cause its getting late.
09:24 AM z64555: one question before you go, please
09:24 AM hypodyne: yep
09:24 AM z64555: What programming language or languages is your project using?
09:25 AM hypodyne: c# in a UWP app
09:25 AM z64555: hm, do you know enough about C++?
09:25 AM z64555: sorry, I said one question, it ended up being two :P
09:26 AM hypodyne: I don't like c++..
09:27 AM z64555: Well, I'll guess we'll pick this up tomorrow then
09:27 AM hypodyne: yeah.. you are over your limit.. yeah.. I could use direct x directly.. but since she is 2d I don't really want to do it.
09:27 AM hypodyne: although I have a direct x book.. it might be easier .. i just like the anime / 2d look.
09:28 AM hypodyne: okay.. cyas
09:28 AM z64555: I'll try looking around for some C# libraries
09:39 AM z64555: ah, its a social bot. anniepoo might have some pointers for its programming
09:40 AM synja: what are you talking about z64555?
09:41 AM z64555: hypodyne was asking for some help with his social bot. Right now he's trying to use C# and XNA to render it
09:42 AM z64555: It's a "virtual bot," as he called it, where the focus is on AI behavior and some simple paper-doll animation
09:42 AM synja: i prefer animatronics
10:58 AM SpeedEvil: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oLPSzvHt8aM Roll out solar arrays, transform and roll out!
02:07 PM SolG is now known as Solgriffin
03:50 PM arunpyasi_ is now known as arunpyasi
06:48 PM hypodyne: morning
07:13 PM z64555: morning, hypodyne
07:13 PM z64555: I checked with my friend, and he says that Unity is free to use up to $100,000 of gross profit from your products that use Unity
07:14 PM z64555: There are a few OpenGL graphics libraries that can be used with C#, such as the OpenToolkit. I'm aware that you are used to DirectX, but it is another option
07:16 PM z64555: I remember coming across software somewhat similar to your virtual robot, it was sold as an anime/manga studio, targeted for stuff like cell phone apps and maybe some educational software
07:16 PM z64555: or, maybe even some low-volume manga... but it's been awhile since I last saw it
07:20 PM hypodyne: oh.. that gives me a few different options.
07:20 PM hypodyne: thansk for that.
07:22 PM z64555: yw, use these for powers of good. :P
07:25 PM hypodyne: Do you know about the system where are person stands in front of a camera and performs actions, wearing a suit with little balls at the joints. and a robot can then simulate those actions.
07:25 PM z64555: That's called motion capture
07:26 PM hypodyne: Oh.. I didnt tell you. She is an evil robot who is designed to take over the world.
07:26 PM z64555: Eh, they all are, the question is how much good they are percieved to be
07:26 PM z64555: :P
07:26 PM hypodyne: well she can smile while doing it
07:27 PM z64555: perfect
07:27 PM hypodyne: motion capture.. cool will look into that to.
07:27 PM z64555: re: motion capture, The basic system uses one or more video cameras to look for a specific object
07:28 PM z64555: and then compile bone position data (essetially just a point-cloud that's later assembled into animation "bones")
07:29 PM z64555: The reference objects can be reflective ping-pong balls or emissive, the latter having an internal light that's at a specific color or color sequence
07:29 PM z64555: The playstation eye uses the latter for some controllers
07:30 PM hypodyne: Yeah, my stuff usually happens in real time. but thats fine. I think they have a library for it now.
07:36 PM z64555: ...oh what is this madness. The manufacturer crimped these connectors down tight and then soldered them
07:36 PM * z64555 snips off the wire
07:38 PM z64555: guess I'll have to solder to the brush directly :|
07:48 PM z64555: nope
07:49 PM * z64555 looks for 14ga wire
08:20 PM z64555: ended up with 12ga, still couldn't solder to brush, so I made the wire into a clip and stuck it on there
08:42 PM justan0theruser is now known as justanotheruser
