12:11 AM rue_house: ?
12:13 AM rue_house: it dosn't look like its doing a good job of controlling that DJ
12:13 AM orlock: 4 channel sound card and midi controller apparently
12:52 AM rue_house: I have an idea
12:52 AM rue_house: wait, i had 4 at once
12:52 AM rue_house: but one of the ideas
12:52 AM rue_house: was to have the servo shut down if the load goes over 50%
12:53 AM rue_house: thats my idea
12:53 AM * rue_house frames it and hangs it on the wall
12:57 AM rue_house: 50% if 32768
12:57 AM rue_house: ok, you know what, If I need to spell that out for myself, its time to go to bed
03:42 AM Jak_o_Shadows: rue_bed, yeeep. I had a busy weekend
03:43 AM Jak_o_Shadows: Super glad you're making progress.
03:43 AM Jak_o_Shadows: Also, I do not understand how DMA works. In theory, sure, but not so much in practice.
03:44 AM Jak_o_Shadows: Are you putting all this code in a folder?
08:45 AM rue_bed: yes, I'm building a folder of all the system examples
09:05 AM rue_house: its frustrating whent eh only example of a timer is a dma-timer based morse code sender
09:06 AM SpeedEvil: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P11y8N22Rq0 ARMS IN SPACE!!!
09:10 AM SpeedEvil: I like the dawn
11:16 AM anniepoo: dma is usually used to transfer big blocks of data - not always, some old microcontrollers it was the only IO -
11:23 AM mrdata: if DMA is the only IO, how do you command the DMA controller?
11:25 AM anniepoo: on a 6502 you just did normal reads or writes to certain addresses
11:25 AM mrdata: memory mapped
11:25 AM anniepoo: yup
11:25 AM mrdata: okay
11:26 AM anniepoo: I'm confusing concepts -
11:27 AM anniepoo: memory mapped - peripheral appears to be a memory location. r/w to that location becomes i/o
11:27 AM anniepoo: dma - peripheral takes over memory address bus from processor and r/w's memory directly
11:30 AM anniepoo: 8cD I'm writing morning emails. Also sanding 3D printed hand
08:46 PM z64555: anniepoo: my memory says you are correct
09:39 PM anniepoo: 8cD
09:39 PM anniepoo: then the DMA must have released so your CPU could read it
09:45 PM Tom_L: wow
09:45 PM Tom_L: you were writing morning emails quite a while
09:58 PM anniepoo: yes
10:00 PM anniepoo: well, more accurately, didnt say I quit writing morning emails
10:00 PM anniepoo: 8cD did sand, and then sandblast, a couple 3D printed parts
10:55 PM anniepoo: ok, enough fun for one day.
10:55 PM anniepoo: headed home
11:20 PM rue_house: anniepoo, did you cast a 3d print?
11:30 PM rue_house: Jak_o_Shadows, would you be interseted so see what I'v done so far?
11:30 PM rue_house: who else can I talk to while they aren't here
11:34 PM aberon: im here and you cannot talk to me
11:37 PM Anniepoo_: hey rue
11:38 PM Anniepoo_: we tried oven burnout, we're going to have to use
11:38 PM Anniepoo_: the furnace, with Mike out it's going slow
11:42 PM rue_house: mike?
11:42 PM rue_house: melt?
11:42 PM rue_house: so it IS hard to burn out?
11:56 PM Anniepoo_: we couldn't burn it out with our usual burnout oven
11:56 PM Anniepoo_: we're going to try putting it in the next time we fire up the furnace
11:56 PM Anniepoo_: just haven't done that
11:57 PM rue_house: mmmm I dont expect it to come out clean
11:57 PM rue_house: call me pesimistic
11:59 PM rue_house: a thing arived from china today!
