12:00 AM ferdna: guys
12:02 AM ferdna: i need help choosing light fixtures.... should i get 2x4feet or 1x8feet T8s?
12:02 AM ferdna: i would like to save en electricity
12:02 AM ferdna: as much as possible
12:10 AM anonnumberanon: ferdna compare the number of light bulbs and the power that each fixture dissipates
12:10 AM anonnumberanon: the power is your electricity consumption
12:10 AM ferdna: ohhh
12:23 AM z64555: also check to see which bulbs are cheaper to buy
12:23 AM z64555: or if you have to special order them
12:44 AM rue_house: zhanx, you know how sometimes you have a project
12:44 AM rue_house: and you save off a part of it for last cause "its easy and will be trivial"
12:44 AM rue_house: and then, its not?
12:44 AM rue_house: even tho it should be?
12:46 AM rue_house: the good news is that the hard-to-get-at taper bearing seat I needed to get out is
12:46 AM rue_house: it was actaully easy
01:07 AM rue_house: ooooooh
01:07 AM * rue_house goes over exploded diagram again
01:07 AM rue_house: there is a retainer ring I might have been pushing on instead of the bearing
01:09 AM rue_house: I can run the tiny camera in there tommorow and see
01:16 AM rue_house: so, nobody did anything today?
01:18 AM mrdata: nothing except find food and go to the shop to find the power was out
01:18 AM mrdata: due to storm
01:19 AM mrdata: lake ontario water levels are at a 100 year high right now
01:19 AM mrdata: and this rain just dumped more water on us
01:31 AM anonnumberanon: mrdata, oh are you near Toronto? I'll be up there in a few weeks
01:32 AM anonnumberanon: got cousins who just moved there
01:49 AM rue_bed: its been wet here too
01:49 AM rue_bed: theBear, hows australia?
01:49 AM rue_bed: flooding?
01:55 AM anonnumberanon: well yeah here too actually when i think about it and the forecast for the long memorial weekend with monday off is....rain every day
01:56 AM anonnumberanon: i may just buy this and go fishing all weekend i hear fishing is good when it's raining
01:56 AM anonnumberanon: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Coleman-Adult-Rainout-PVC-Rain-Suit/47497598
01:57 AM rue_bed: :)
02:04 AM mrdata: anonnumberanon, yeah, i'm in toronto
02:04 AM mrdata: for how long is your visit?\
02:05 AM mrdata: i'm a member at one of the local maker spaces there, http://site3.ca/
02:05 AM mrdata: so feel free to drop by on thursday evenings
02:06 AM anonnumberanon: i want to test my new idea which is that since i don't interact much with my team because programmer, I could work from home just as well if not better, so I want to try to go to friends or family's places all over and just work during the day and hang out with them at night, like a mini vacation because at my job i don't get paid vacation
02:07 AM anonnumberanon: this should also be a test of self-discipline i guess
02:08 AM anonnumberanon: nice mrdata I'll let you know. planning on staying a week
02:08 AM mrdata: cool
02:59 AM Jak_o_Shadows: well. I am vaguely making the physics model of the robot in blender.
02:59 AM Jak_o_Shadows: But the rigid body joints, and the kinda bad API is giving me a headache.
03:00 AM Jak_o_Shadows: Nice for rotations though
04:01 AM rue_bed: set your zero stance, work out your offsets, stack your trasnformations
04:04 AM Jak_o_Shadows: aye. Blender has a library/module with euler angles, quaternions, axis angles, 4x4 transformation matrices, etc, all built in.
04:04 AM Jak_o_Shadows: Better than writing my own.
04:06 AM veverak: there are librarires for that on internetz anyway
05:46 AM theBear: err, i don't think it's floodey here
05:47 AM theBear: it been sunny last couple days i think, tho i ain't been outdoors
06:12 AM kristhian_ is now known as kristhian
06:12 AM Jak_o_Shadows: veverak, yeah. I suppose blenders nice in that it combines the vis and the rigid body dynamics, and the real timeness as wlel
06:17 AM kristhian: is there some detailed tut/site on how to make a basic robot maede with andruino?
06:17 AM kristhian: juanonymous here
06:30 AM joga: probably depends on what kind of robot you want. for a simple 'car' type robot you'd likely have a couple of motors and some sensor, so you could just look up a tutorial for how to drive the motors and read the sensor with the arduino, rest can start off as simple as turning the motors on as long as the sensor value is big enough, or whatever
06:30 AM joga: mostly you'd need to consider the battery pack, if any, and wiring it up correctly so the motors draw from them and not the arduino
11:11 AM z64555: which would mean the use of relays or a power fet
11:11 AM z64555: hmm, what was it called? an H-bridge?
05:13 PM mrdata: z64555, yes H-bridges are often seen in motor drivers
07:18 PM kristhian_ is now known as kristhian
