#robotics Calendar

12:13 AM Anniepoo_: nifty
12:18 AM Anniepoo_: love the number of people gardening in this channel
12:18 AM rue_shop3: even when I am a robot, I dont think I'll give up gardening
12:18 AM rue_shop3: but my memory is bad and over the course of 3000 years, I might forget
12:20 AM orlock: Unsure.. probably just to clone/make more to sell?
12:20 AM orlock: Maybe for research - dunno
12:20 AM Anniepoo_: I have some friends who have winery. Trimming grapes is such skilled labor I basically couldn't help out
12:28 AM rue_house: off at the bottom, off at the bottom, off at the bottom...
12:32 AM rue_house: ****
12:35 AM rue_house: here yee, here yee
12:35 AM rue_house: new media, dog!
12:35 AM rue_house: ... please stand by
12:35 AM rue_house: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tutorials/elex/pilot1.jpg <-- truely a waste of time, wont make more!
12:35 AM rue_house: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/tutorials/elex/pilot2.jpg
12:35 AM rue_house: schematic is for 120VAC
12:35 AM rue_house: and bright white led
12:35 AM rue_house: I tried a new trick for threading it, it was still a pain
12:35 AM rue_house: 27tpi lamp thread
12:36 AM rue_house: ~I didn't make the nut~
12:38 AM rue_house: I can do the rest of the thigns I need to do from bed
12:39 AM rue_house: oh, anniepoo my vibrator...
12:39 AM rue_house: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/images/p1080953.jpg
12:40 AM rue_house: setting in its new concrete base
12:40 AM rue_house: its mostly working, I taped a cup of screws to it and they rotated :)
12:54 AM rue_bed: arg, a twig that slipped into my ear today did damage something, there is a bit of blood in there
01:12 AM Anniepoo_: rue, making yer own pilot lamps is extreme
01:13 AM Anniepoo_: and you're making your own vibratory tumbler?
01:13 AM Anniepoo_: That's cool
01:13 AM Anniepoo_: Not sure from pix how it works
01:14 AM rue_bed: not atubmer
01:14 AM Anniepoo_: and yah, get the twig damage looked at - that can be serious
01:14 AM rue_bed: a seperator for screws to be sorted by robot
01:14 AM rue_bed: I have about 150lbs of unsorted misc screws
01:14 AM rue_bed: I made a fractional-gram scale
01:15 AM rue_bed: I'll have my ear looked at tommorow
01:15 AM rue_bed: the drum is still sealed it seems
01:16 AM rue_bed: I pushed up against a bamboo and one of those blooming little dead twigs went and poked right in my ear
01:21 AM Anniepoo_: oh, separating by weight is a good idea
01:21 AM Anniepoo_: you probably don't need near as much vibration as you have
01:21 AM Anniepoo_: commercial vibratory sorters don't vibrate that much
01:23 AM Anniepoo_: I'd start with a drill motor with 1/2" of 1" dia steel bar drilled near the edge as offset weight
01:23 AM Anniepoo_: ever seen the vibratory bowl feeders used for electronic parts?
01:23 AM Anniepoo_: they're cool
01:26 AM Anniepoo_: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Automatic-balance-weights-sorter-unscrambler-with-english-version-controller/32542277606.html?spm=2114.40010508.4.2.e4SUb8
01:28 AM Anniepoo_: you could avoid all that building. make a small electromagnet for your arm
01:28 AM Anniepoo_: have arm pick up screws one at a time and put on scale
01:29 AM Anniepoo_: could even use a permanent magnet - have arm move up beside wood barrier and 'brush off' the part
01:30 AM Anniepoo_: then repeatedly pick parts back up and drop in
01:30 AM Anniepoo_: one of many tubes/cups/whatever until scale is zero
01:30 AM Anniepoo_: then restart cycle
01:30 AM Anniepoo_: you'll occasionally double feed, but that's OK,
01:31 AM Anniepoo_: those end up in a 'very heavy' jar, just dump them back in feed tray]
05:01 AM Jak_o_Shadows: pradu! Anyway, were you wanting to change the pitch angle of the blades? Or tilt the blades?
05:01 AM Jak_o_Shadows: Cause like, with electric motors, the neat thing is that you can run them at different speeds without really losing efficiency
05:02 AM Jak_o_Shadows: Rue, for your indiccator thing, did you consider christmas lights? Thing is, the sets i'm thinking of are generally wired in series, with at least 24 bulbs.
05:02 AM Jak_o_Shadows: But on the other hand, that's for 240V, so for 110 you might get away with more? Dunno.
08:52 AM rue_bed: the goal was a 120V pilot lamp
08:52 AM rue_bed: christmas lights, series ones, are usually 120/20 = 6V
09:15 AM rue_house: anniepoo, the trick with the vibration seporator is that it twists as it comes up, which makes the parts jump in a circle
09:16 AM rue_house: I cant do an electromagnet for an arm and be sure its only picking up/dropping one screw
09:20 AM rue_house: you can see my design was based on the motors for that vibrator
09:21 AM rue_house: esp after seeing how much they are worth
09:24 AM robotustra: hm, have to build lathe
09:24 AM rue_house: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Vibratory-Drive-Base-2-from-CUH/32788226019.html
09:25 AM rue_house: did I mention how much money I save making my own?
09:25 AM rue_house: dont make a lathe so you can make pilot indicators
09:26 AM robotustra: rue_house: do you have lathe?
09:26 AM rue_house: yes
09:27 AM robotustra: pic?
09:28 AM rue_house: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/projects/lathe/p1040778.jpg
09:29 AM rue_house: apparently almost every photo I have after that is about accessories and usage tricks
09:30 AM robotustra: what is the length of parts and diameter?
09:30 AM rue_house: its a 10" x 22" lathe
09:30 AM robotustra: max part length?
09:31 AM rue_house: 22"
09:31 AM robotustra: did you buy new one or used one?
09:31 AM rue_house: its nooo
09:31 AM robotustra: how many $$$?
09:31 AM rue_house: few thouand dollars with accessories
09:31 AM robotustra: fuck
09:32 AM robotustra: too much
09:32 AM robotustra: what is the weight of it?
09:32 AM rue_house: hmm
09:33 AM robotustra: by passport
09:33 AM rue_house: I think about 400lbs
09:33 AM robotustra: 200 kg
09:33 AM rue_house: http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/projects/lathe/p1040769.jpg
09:33 AM robotustra: and what model is it?
09:34 AM rue_house: .... did you look at the image I posted or ????
09:34 AM robotustra: yes, but I don't know the model
09:35 AM rue_house: https://www.kmstools.com/king-canada-10-x-22-metal-lathe-2587
09:35 AM robotustra: ok thanks
09:36 AM rue_house: a company called bear uses the same chineese manufacturer, but has them built cheaper
09:36 AM robotustra: do they have smaller models?
09:36 AM rue_house: https://www.kmstools.com/king-canada-7-x-12-metal-lathe-2586
09:37 AM rue_house: I suggest avoiding any lathe with a brushed motor and an electronic speed controller
09:38 AM z64555: aka "Sideways dremel in a fancy table"
09:38 AM rue_house: dont know how many speed controllers I'v fixed for people
09:38 AM robotustra: I
09:39 AM robotustra: I'm thinking about using CNC spindle + timing belt reduction
09:39 AM robotustra: but this last lathe looks resonable
09:40 AM rue_house: hahah, milling machine with digital readout, they dont mention the readout is just for the spindle rpm... hahaha
09:41 AM robotustra: and?
09:43 AM robotustra: 3/4" spindle bore
09:44 AM robotustra: can't lathe big barrel :)
09:47 AM robotustra: 85 lbs - it's reasonable
09:47 AM robotustra: 1000CAD
09:47 AM robotustra: do they sell it with tools or you bought them separately?
09:52 AM robotustra: rue_house: is it noisy?
09:52 AM robotustra: I mean gearbox
10:31 AM robotustra: rue_house: thanks for link
10:32 AM robotustra: 7x12 lathe looks reasonable for this price
11:49 AM anniepoo: yay - the great fer, that the plug wouldn't come out of the snail shell, was unfounded.
11:49 AM anniepoo: after 3 days soaking in water, cardboard slices are still holding together, but the glue's dissolved
11:49 AM anniepoo: so they can just be removed
11:50 AM anniepoo: next time I do this (HAH!) I'll put glue on last 3/4" of dowel on each end, and when ready I'll just drill it out.
12:36 PM tsglove: anybody see this? --> http://www.piddlerintheroot.com/lidar/
12:46 PM scj643: Anyone worked with robot mesh for vex edr
05:53 PM davr0s is now known as doomlord
08:55 PM tttb2 is now known as tttb
09:51 PM rue_shop3: no
09:52 PM rue_shop3: anniepoo, mould became a permanent fixture?
09:52 PM zhanx: Evening
09:52 PM rue_shop3: yup
09:52 PM rue_shop3: yup, it is...
09:53 PM rue_shop3: I'm gonna go check the mail
09:53 PM rue_shop3: yea
09:53 PM rue_shop3: thats a plan
09:53 PM zhanx: ok
