12:15 AM rue_shop3: sewer!
12:17 AM mrdata_: hmm
12:17 AM mrdata_: i'm unfamiliar with the case
12:17 AM mrdata_: so who is the waste treatment operated by?
12:17 AM mrdata_: province of quebec?
12:17 AM mrdata_: a municipality?
12:21 AM mrdata_: zhanx, was it this? http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/montreal-to-dump-raw-sewage-into-st-lawrence-river/article26676649/
12:22 AM mrdata_: waste water treatment is under municipal purview i think
12:22 AM zhanx: that was one time they did it
12:22 AM mrdata_: so dont blame canada or even the province
12:23 AM zhanx: sure
12:23 AM zhanx: canada allows it, so its not a blame canada thing
12:24 AM zhanx: but the one i am talking about was on the news tonight
12:25 AM mrdata_: montreal's sewer system is rotten
12:25 AM zhanx: so fix it
12:25 AM rue_house: we dont have the money
12:25 AM mrdata_: can you link me to this new news article?
12:26 AM zhanx: let me look if its on the new7 site
12:27 AM zhanx: this the local news site, http://www.wwnytv.com/ not on it yet. was on the evening news
12:35 AM rue_house: k, gnight
12:35 AM rue_house: ... none of the aliexpress users who refunded me will let me repay them !? wtf?
12:42 AM rue_bed: huh
12:43 AM zhanx: what?
12:44 AM zhanx: oh wait you asked for a refund due to time and then it came in?
01:03 AM rue_bed: yea
01:04 AM rue_bed: between 1 week and 1 month after the refund (at 120 days)
01:04 AM rue_bed: thats canada post for you
01:05 AM rue_bed: what clears stomach acid from a throat nicely
08:47 AM rue_bed: I cant get sleep in a dream, I just wake up what seems immediatly with hours having passed
08:49 AM veverak: :)
09:27 AM rue_house: I was quite dissaopinted, I got all set up for a nice long sleep (in my dream)
09:27 AM rue_house: fireplace set up and everything
10:14 AM veverak: hmm
10:19 AM veverak: I have graph of jointstates, which is uint8_t[3] now
10:20 AM veverak: for astar heuristics, I use distance between two states, which is same as distance of two points in 3d space
10:20 AM veverak: I wonder if there is better heuristic to use, hmm
10:24 AM veverak: oh, yeah, it's multiplied by minimal price of edge in graph
11:37 AM veverak: nah, great
11:37 AM veverak: somehow I still have astar slower than basic dijskra
01:09 PM anniepoo: hey rue - yes, they're standard OEM device
01:09 PM anniepoo: and yes, they're slow and kind of suck
04:27 PM multifractal: need to simulate hand holding camera focused on object - small perturbations around a canonical pose. initially thought of motorised camera gimbal on rail, but 360degree freedom is overkill because range of motion is small, and my lego digital designs became over-complicated. now i reckon a small Stewart platform would be ideal...
04:27 PM multifractal: does anyone have any suggestions for constructing such a system, recommend a pre-fabricated solution?
04:29 PM multifractal: i should also mention the motivation of this is to produce data for a machine learning project. i have no backgrund in engineering/robots
04:31 PM multifractal: i also considered 6dof robot arms, but many of them seem to jitter around a lot. that wouldn't be ideal for this project, but might be mitigated by the fact that the motions only need to be slow, small and gradual (assuming i can program them that way!).
09:46 PM rue_house: anniepoo, I have one from a printer, do you thin there are linux drivers?
09:46 PM rue_house: are they generic enough?
09:47 PM rue_house: the odd thing is, its got an atmel product id
09:47 PM rue_house: the device has a ACM (tty) and an HID
09:51 PM anniepoo: hey
09:54 PM anniepoo: one minit
09:55 PM anniepoo: I don't know, honestly
09:56 PM anniepoo: I just know it's a standard kind of thing you can get, a control unit with touchscreen and display on a USB
10:03 PM anniepoo: I assume you've figured out the power pins and just tried plugging it into a box
10:03 PM anniepoo: oddly, some machines are windows inside
10:03 PM anniepoo: My laser's got a similar unit
10:04 PM anniepoo: https://www.anaheimautomation.com/products/hmi/pages/hmi-touchscreen.php
10:05 PM anniepoo: you now know more than I do about all this
10:11 PM DagoRed: /buffer 14
10:43 PM rue_bed: its an HP multifunction
10:43 PM rue_bed: it has an arm processor
10:43 PM rue_bed: it MIGHT run windows CE or LJLinux?
10:43 PM anniepoo: bet the latter
10:44 PM rue_bed: I still have it working enough to operate the screen
10:44 PM rue_bed: it literally has a usb jack on the back
10:44 PM anniepoo: yes
10:44 PM anniepoo: is is A end or B end?
10:44 PM rue_bed: mini B
10:44 PM rue_bed: but, its an A-A cord
10:45 PM rue_bed: none the less, I plugged it into linux
10:45 PM anniepoo: hmm
10:45 PM rue_bed: there is a 4 port hub, the HID device and a ACM device
10:46 PM anniepoo: you might look around to see if HP sells the unit as an OEM part.
10:46 PM rue_bed: the usb says its a "photon 1" I cant find any public record of it
10:47 PM rue_bed: maybe its a reuse of a pre-release-flopped product?
10:48 PM anniepoo: HP might have just sourced it somewhere
10:48 PM rue_bed: its got hackme written all over it
10:48 PM rue_bed: its got an atmel vendor id
10:49 PM rue_bed: product 3999 iirc
10:49 PM rue_bed: which isn't listed, but in the area of other hid stuffs
10:50 PM rue_bed: I really think the engineer was trying to make a toy
10:50 PM rue_bed: same with the allen bradley plc screen
10:50 PM Tom_itx: http://www.positive-feedback.com/Issue76/inex_usb.htm ???
10:50 PM rue_bed: you can see the engineer sneaking information past the sales people in the datasheet
10:51 PM rue_bed: interesting
10:51 PM rue_bed: and this is an lcd touchscreen
10:51 PM Tom_itx: is that it?
10:51 PM rue_bed: "by HP"
10:51 PM rue_bed: no
10:51 PM Tom_itx: k
10:51 PM rue_bed: its a ~5.5" touchscreen
10:52 PM rue_bed: colour
10:53 PM Tom_itx: you need a touch screen?
10:53 PM Tom_itx: i got a new touchscreen with a cracked lcd :D
10:54 PM Tom_itx: one of those port powered things... i forget the standard name
10:57 PM rue_bed: no
10:57 PM rue_bed: I have one I'm hacking
10:58 PM Tom_itx: it came in a box with all those PC-104 thingies i got
10:58 PM Tom_itx: you can have those too if you come get em
11:14 PM rue_bed: I'v still not ruled out a USA vaccation trip
11:16 PM Tom_itx: why would you want to visit here?
11:19 PM rue_house: people I know
11:33 PM anniepoo: rue, if you drive down, come thru Elgin!!!!
