02:58 AM Jak_o_Shadows: old scanners or printers
09:05 AM PC-PC is now known as sektor
12:54 PM noproto: i have a joule which requires 12V/3A and an arduino knockoff which supposedly requires 12V/8A. does that mean i need to supply a combined 24V and 11A to run both?
12:55 PM Snert_: there's something wrong about that. No arduino needs 8Amps.
12:55 PM Tom_L: those numbers are obsured
12:56 PM Snert_: on purpose? wow.
12:58 PM Snert_: I thought sanding the numbers off the chips was about all they did.
12:59 PM noproto: well it runs a 'wifi module' aka a router and it controls motor functions of a robotic arm
01:01 PM noproto: the 8A part is obviously a little difficult to satisfy but they claim the battery puts out 8A to do the tasks. i can try lowering the amperage to 3A and see if it's still fine
01:02 PM Snert_: the router itself should have some power spec stated on label or next to the power jack.
01:15 PM noproto: 5V 1A, if i'm reading this engrish correctly it should only need 3A despite the claims that the 2200mAh battery puts out 8A
01:21 PM Tom_L: i think you're cofusing capacity with current draw
01:27 PM Snert_: if you put a larger gas tank on your car, that doesn't make your car use more gas.
01:27 PM Snert_: your car uses only the gas it needs. But now it lasts longer.
01:28 PM Snert_: so larger mAH capacity just means more time between charges.
03:51 PM noproto: this is a neat community, looking forward to staying around a little while
03:51 PM noproto: thanks guys
04:00 PM noproto: also Snert_, Tom_L: wasn't confused about that, just the amperage and why it needs so much. thanks for the help :)
05:59 PM anniepoo_: 8cP little time for snail
05:59 PM zhanx: vok officially DAD that his kids will hate. I ordered matching shirts for all of us of their favorite marvel character
