12:56 AM pokmo: hi
12:56 AM pokmo: anyone know if metal screws can be used with nylon standoffs like this http://www.rc-drones.com/PFG-10mm039-Black-Nylon-M3-Threaded-Hex-Male-Female-Standoff-Spacer_p_931.html ?
12:56 AM SpeedEvil: pokmo: yes
12:57 AM pokmo: SpeedEvil, is the nylon not too soft for metal screws?
12:57 AM SpeedEvil: It's a threaded hole
12:57 AM SpeedEvil: The screw threads into it without deforming it
12:57 AM pokmo: yeah, but nylon threads won't be deformed?
12:57 AM pokmo: right
12:59 AM SpeedEvil: The thread is not deformed in any case unless you overtighten the screw
12:59 AM pokmo: thanks
12:59 AM SpeedEvil: it's just if you use a nylon screw at that point, the screw will probably strip
01:01 AM pokmo: right
01:03 AM pokmo: SpeedEvil, basically i'm trying to squeeze two metal plates together with a rigid block in between. my plan is to have two standoffs on one plate and two screws on another
01:03 AM pokmo: the force will be as much as a thumb and an index finger can squeeze
01:03 AM pokmo: would a metal screw strip the nylon threads given the relatively high force?
01:04 AM SpeedEvil: It's going to be quite hard to strip - I'd estimate probably 30kg or more of force, for a properly made nylon screw
01:05 AM pokmo: right
01:06 AM pokmo: i guess i'm only after 5kg

11:49 PM justanotheruser: I attached a shaft coupler to a shaft, but it was a tight fit and is now stock. How should I remove it?
