12:03 AM _Sol_ is now known as SolGriffin
02:26 AM rue_house: Jak_o_Shadows, would you PLEASE stay logged on so I can get messages back to you?
02:27 AM rue_house: there have been like 4 things this week I wanted to help you with and you weren't online
02:31 AM rue_house: so, I think I can make a motor speed controller if I take a computer power supply, reroute the vsb so that it runsthe main regulator, drop everything but the 5V output, and rewire the votlage feedback
02:31 AM rue_house: for the spindle motor, i need from 1.5 to 8V
02:48 AM SpeedEvil: rue_house: memoserv in principle
02:49 AM rue_house: er
02:49 AM rue_house: zlog
02:50 AM rue_house: ah
02:50 AM rue_house: mhm
03:05 AM Jak_o_Shadows: rue, we're in completely different time zones. Like, literally opposite.
03:05 AM Jak_o_Shadows: I tried getting a bouncer working, it didn't quite work
03:12 AM rue_shop3: just leave it logged in?
03:12 AM rue_shop3: or you on dialup? :/
03:13 AM rue_shop3: rifraf was on dialup
03:17 AM Jak_o_Shadows: I can't leave this computer on.
03:17 AM Jak_o_Shadows: The server, yes, but the bouncer keeps crashing.
03:17 AM Jak_o_Shadows: That's why there was a Jak_o_Ombroj for about a week.
03:20 AM rue_shop3: hmm
03:21 AM Jak_o_Shadows: I'll have another go at setting up an irc bouncer.
03:24 AM SpeedEvil: I recommend quassel.
03:24 AM SpeedEvil: It has one central db, that connects to an IRC server (or many), and you then connect multiple clients to it on any OS you want, and get a unified scrollback
03:26 AM Jak_o_Shadows: It's not a traditional bouncer in the connect other client to it sense though?
03:28 AM Jak_o_Shadows: On the other hand, I'm using pidgin, which is not the pinnacle of irc
03:38 AM rue_shop3: No results found for "getting started as a cyborg". GOOGLE JUST ISN'T TRYING ANYMORE.
03:39 AM rue_shop3: I CANNOT be the first person to say that
03:39 AM rue_shop3: fffffffff nothing from duckduckgo either
03:40 AM rue_shop3: WHAT THE HELL
03:40 AM SpeedEvil: Jak_o_Shadows: no, it's very pidgin like in some ways
03:40 AM SpeedEvil: Jak_o_Shadows: though only does IRC
03:40 AM SpeedEvil: (the client is pidgin like)
03:40 AM SpeedEvil: Thought here are also android and iphonec clients
03:45 AM mrdata__ is now known as mrdata
03:47 AM Jak_o_Shadows: Seems like it's worth a shot
03:59 AM rue_shop3: what topics should be covered by a book on becomming a cyborg
04:00 AM Jak_o_Shadows: motivation. Power. Connectivity.
04:00 AM Jak_o_Shadows: Hygiene?
04:01 AM SpeedEvil: Not becoming skynet.
04:02 AM rue_shop3: I have some of that in chapter one
04:02 AM rue_shop3: the table on the cnc I made is REALLY flat,
04:02 AM rue_shop3: its definitly within 0.2mm
04:03 AM rue_shop3: didn't expect that
04:03 AM rue_shop3: (I'm cutting it level)
04:04 AM rue_shop3: Chapter one: - So you have decided to become a cyborg.
04:04 AM rue_shop3: Chapter two: - First steps of augmentation.
04:04 AM rue_shop3: Chapter three: - Maintaining a state of augmentation
04:04 AM rue_shop3: Chapter four: - Self-improvement as a cyborg.
04:05 AM rue_shop3: or is some of that too broad and I should break it down more
04:09 AM rue_shop3: everyone got quiet again
04:10 AM rue_shop3: its like everyone just realized I wrote a book that exists in the future that nobody knew the origins of
04:10 AM rue_shop3: 8-|
04:11 AM Jak_o_Shadows: well, i'm trying to install quassel, but am having a slight bit of trouble with the databse server it uses
04:27 AM SpeedEvil: There is a channel.
04:27 AM SpeedEvil: #quassel
04:27 AM * SpeedEvil is not awake
04:28 AM Jak_o_Shadows: Yeah, I'm in there.
04:35 AM malcom2073: Jak_o_Shadows: Have you tried the sqlite database? I use that one and it was a painless setup
04:35 AM malcom2073: iirc, it supports a couple different types
04:38 AM Jak_o_Shadows: Yeah. I'm sure the sqlite works perfectly. Apparently postgresql is better though
04:39 AM malcom2073: Apparently not? :)
04:43 AM Jak_o_Shadows: pfft. This is just a tiiny little teething problem
04:58 AM rue_shop3: years ago I had to choose between sqllite and postgres, I chose postgres, and I'v never resented it
05:04 AM deshipu: um, that's like choosing between a screwdriver and a hammer
05:04 AM deshipu: they do different things
05:53 AM Miyu is now known as hackkitten
05:59 AM Jak_o_Shadows_ is now known as Jak_o_Shadows
06:00 AM Jak_o_Shadows: rue_house: I now have quassel setup. So barring power/internet loss (hmm, I restart the modem daily via a timer...) I should be all good to go
06:08 AM Jak_o_Shadows: Yeah rue_house. Pretty sure it's working
12:06 PM rue_bed2: Jak_o_Shadows, test
12:27 PM z64555: test
12:27 PM z64555: neat
01:36 PM ace4016: test
01:36 PM ace4016: >_>
01:37 PM z64555: ace4016, we were testing the new c-log
01:37 PM ace4016: ah
01:37 PM z64555: It's similar to zlog, but its for like a full day
01:37 PM z64555: zlog
01:38 PM z64555: :/
01:38 PM z64555: guess they took it out
05:59 PM SpeedEvil: http://i.imgur.com/d7ScpCT.gif
06:07 PM justanotheruser: If I want to secure something via spring pin, and the spring pins dimensions are 10 - 10.3 mm, should I make the cut 10.05mm?
06:47 PM z64555: You should make it slightly larger than its collapsed dimension
06:47 PM z64555: ...that's about as much as I know about machining for them
06:48 PM z64555: ah
06:48 PM z64555: http://www.engineersedge.com/roll_pin.htm
06:49 PM z64555: Their nominal size is what you should drill for
