12:00 AM rue_shop3: I redid the controller for him
12:14 AM z64555: nice little cabinet
12:14 AM rue_house: yea
01:46 AM rue_bed2: less space after a capacitor for the motor supply, a grbl board, a pendant board, and a spindle power relay
01:52 AM Jak_o_Shadows: hiya
01:58 AM z64555: Jak_o_Shadows: I was gonna tell ya something the other day but I forgot
01:59 AM Jak_o_Shadows: ahaha.
02:00 AM Jak_o_Shadows: Well, if you ever remember :P
02:07 AM Jak_o_Shadows: Gonna just start on a small part of the quadrapod
02:07 AM Jak_o_Shadows: The spine - the steawrt platform
02:21 AM z64555: *stalwart platform :P
02:22 AM Jak_o_Shadows: stalling platform*
02:23 AM Jak_o_Shadows: It's a couple of not very impressive braccket type things at the moment.
02:23 AM Jak_o_Shadows: I'm printing them right now.
02:23 AM Jak_o_Shadows: Gonna put my servos in a different spot to most people.
02:23 AM Jak_o_Shadows: We'll see how it goes
02:23 AM Jak_o_Shadows: I haven't run the calcs for torque or anything (yet)
03:15 AM Jak_o_Shadows: Hmm. I wonder if I have the things to make more rod-ends
03:15 AM Jak_o_Shadows: (Cause seriously, rod ends are expensive)
05:48 AM Jak_o_Shadows: I should probably figure out geometry sometime soon...
05:49 AM Jak_o_Shadows: and what material to use as the links.
05:49 AM Jak_o_Shadows: Hmm. If micro servo motors have a precision of 1 deg, I wonder how that limits the movement
08:14 AM synja: if you cut the implication of their movement by have (0-90 vs 0-180), you can have control down to 0.5 degrees jak
08:14 AM synja: oh you left
08:14 AM synja: half*
09:33 AM rue_house: It'd be helpfull if jak didn't leave, so we could post messages while afk
09:35 AM zhanx: sure
01:49 PM z64555: or have a bot like zlog implement a mail system
01:49 PM z64555: !mail Jak_o_Shadows Get back here!
01:50 PM z64555: that would store a message for Jak, and send it to him the second the bot sees him in any of the rooms the bot is in
02:46 PM _Sol_ is now known as SolGriffin
03:01 PM Snert__ is now known as Snert
05:24 PM synja: lol z64555 that's a good idea actually
05:24 PM synja: for large groups at least, or with a lot of chatter
05:25 PM z64555: or for folks that have a habit of popping in/out and nobody knows their email address
05:26 PM synja: if it's a small channel and barely anyone talks, at least people can scroll back
05:26 PM synja: i made a bot once that translated what everyone said into the language the person spoke
05:26 PM synja: they all spoke through the bot
05:27 PM synja: sadly that code is long gone ;)
05:27 PM synja: poor poor r0setta
05:27 PM z64555: scrollback only works if you're in the channel
05:27 PM synja: touche
11:12 PM pokmo: I see that those electronic vibration bug toys are powered by coin cell batteries. Don't coin cell batteries have very low current ratings? Something like <0.5mA?
11:14 PM z64555: you can pull more current than that from a battery
11:15 PM z64555: just, uh, don't try to recharge it when you do
11:15 PM z64555: I don't think most coincells are designed as rechargable, excluding those to be used as memory backup batteries
11:16 PM z64555: (yeha yeah, they're technically just a power cell, not really a battery)
11:16 PM pokmo: Hmm
11:20 PM pokmo: http://data.energizer.com/pdfs/cr2032.pdf
11:20 PM pokmo: It says 0.19mA
11:21 PM pokmo: Typical drain
11:23 PM z64555: for a 15K ohm load
11:28 PM pokmo: Yeah, so they aren't designed for some 20ma draw
11:28 PM pokmo: Which is what those vibration motors draw, right
11:30 PM z64555: I think you'd find that the vibrators don't draw a constant current
11:39 PM pokmo: z64555 because of the eccentric load?
11:39 PM z64555: yes
11:39 PM z64555: Particularly when the rotation axis is orthogonal to the gravity vector
