[00:44:26] <Snert> you must have people living above the shop or something
[00:44:35] <Snert> I run mine anytime.
[00:56:19] <rue_shop3> na, its outside and I ahve neighbours
[00:56:35] <rue_shop3> they might be normal people, i'm not sure
[03:53:26] <rue_shop3> armyofevilrobots, its 2.2A per phase.... thats 4.4A per motor... thats 13.2A total
[03:53:31] <rue_shop3> the supply is rated for 9A
[03:53:42] <rue_shop3> ooooh
[03:53:52] <rue_shop3> that might be why its not set for 3A
[03:53:55] <rue_shop3> per phase
[03:54:18] <rue_shop3> 6....3... it needs an 18A supply
[03:54:34] <rue_shop3> at 6A... 36A supply...
[03:54:38] <rue_shop3> hmmmmm
[03:55:02] * rue_shop3 gets a meter
[04:00:19] <rue_shop3> oh buuuut
[04:00:22] <rue_shop3> its switched mode
[04:01:37] <rue_shop3> which is only 1.9A on the supply per phase
[04:01:58] <rue_shop3> 4A per motor, is still 12A total
[04:02:02] <rue_shop3> no
[04:02:18] <rue_shop3> its 4.16w
[04:02:22] <rue_shop3> per phase
[04:02:40] <rue_shop3> 8.32w per motor
[04:02:56] <rue_shop3> 25w total
[04:03:17] <rue_shop3> 0.7A total on the supply
[04:03:42] <rue_shop3> which is why I'm only seeing 0.4A on the supply
[04:03:55] <rue_shop3> so if each motor runs at 3A
[04:04:24] <rue_shop3> 15.48w/motor
[04:04:38] <rue_shop3> 46.5w total
[04:04:56] <rue_shop3> 1.3A on the supply
[04:04:59] <rue_shop3> OK
[04:05:11] <rue_shop3> so, ... parallel,
[04:05:42] <rue_shop3> sme
[04:05:51] <rue_shop3> same of course, same motor power
[04:06:29] <rue_shop3> so, if that driver could take 6A/phase, that thing could run about 50% faster
[04:08:03] <rue_shop3> I love it when conventional math dosn't apply
[04:14:10] <mrdata> rue_shop3, standards for noise here are, daytime 8am to 11pm weekdays, not before 9am sundays i think
[04:14:41] <mrdata> most neighbours are normal people
[04:17:31] <mrdata> conventional math for motors is, power = volts * amps * power factor, i thought
[04:18:31] <rue_shop3> well, you see, stepper drivers are constant current
[04:18:37] <rue_shop3> aka switching converters
[04:18:43] <rue_shop3> aka constant power converters
[04:19:10] <rue_shop3> so, if you have a motor that has two 3A coils, it does NOT mean you need a 6A power supply
[04:19:25] <rue_shop3> if each coil is 1V, thats only a 6w motor
[04:19:38] <rue_shop3> if your power supply is 12V, thats only 0.5A
[04:20:43] <rue_shop3> the peaks might be 6A, but the average will be 0.5A, filter with capacitor, 1000uF/amp
[04:20:49] <rue_shop3> 6000uF
[04:21:10] <rue_shop3> all happy, no foul
[04:23:55] <rue_shop3> I'm falling asleep, but it IS 2am
[04:28:26] <rue_shop3> hahah, the ... neutral is fused!?
[04:29:30] <rue_shop3> ah, no, the wire colours are just backwards
[04:30:10] <mrdata> ok
[12:52:21] <rue_house> hah, left everyone speechless eh?
[12:54:43] <Tom_L> mouth full of food
[13:14:58] <rue_shop3> oh, sorry
[13:15:02] * rue_shop3 swallows
[13:15:08] <rue_shop3> is that better?
[15:01:29] <rue_shop3> ok, thats seems to be all the metalworking required to build a table router
[15:01:58] <rue_shop3> I need lunch, and a 20x20 peice of plywood or it
[15:02:00] <rue_shop3> for
[15:47:38] <vicarion> can someone point me towards a list specific problems facing bipedal locomotion? i keep hearing there are lots of challenges, but not much about the specifics
[16:21:31] <rue_shop3> just walking
[16:23:54] <rue_shop3> well I finished the router table, but I'd sure like to have something that could round the edges of it...
[16:40:43] <rue_shop3> ok I just have to wire it
[16:43:15] <Tom_L> pics or it never happened
[18:09:39] <mrdata> rue_shop3, if only you had a router to round the edges of the router table
[18:09:40] <mrdata> ;)
