[04:25:19] <LiohAu> SpeedEvil kipedia are you there?
[04:25:54] <LiohAu> I'm looking for a quick course/lesson on fuses
[04:26:07] <LiohAu> what's the difference between flat, cylindral ones ...
[04:26:27] <LiohAu> which one is usually used in robotics
[04:35:11] <SpeedEvil> Flat fuses are a car thing generally
[04:35:45] <SpeedEvil> you simply look for a fuse rated for DC, with a breaking current that is greater than your short circuit current, and an appropriate voltage at DC
[05:01:30] <LiohAu> SpeedEvil: ok
[05:03:10] <rue_house> the voltage rating has to do with the arcover distance whent eh fuse trips
[05:04:07] <rue_house> fuses sorta have two ratings, the amount of current they can break on an instant short, and the regular overload current
[05:04:45] <rue_house> so you can see a fuse with a 10000A / 15A rating
[06:02:43] <Snert> I use the flat car fuses in my stuff. It's just more convienent and easier to pull that kind of fuse out of it's socket.
[06:03:41] <Snert> plus I just kinda hate those round barrel fuses that you cannot see through.
[06:04:25] <deshipu> its
[10:08:38] <z64555> tube fuses are nice for in-line splices
[12:50:58] <rue_bed> breakers are nice too, no muffing with replcaement fuses
[12:51:35] <rue_bed> even a custom one with a current sense and a relay
[12:52:50] <rue_bed> On my hexapod I made a custom overload that uses a 0.1 ohm resistor and a 555
[12:53:07] <rue_bed> the 555 drives the relay, latches etc
[13:33:19] <rue_house> its handy because with the pins on a 555 you can drive the relay, have it latch the overload condition, get a logic level signal thats its overloaded, and you have a logic level signal you can use to reset it
[16:33:40] <rue_shop5> /joni #grbl
[16:33:42] <rue_shop5> nope
[16:33:48] <rue_shop5> fail ffail fail
[16:34:03] <rue_shop5> strike two... hmm
