[01:54:29] <rue_bed> except its costing $500 to go to the maker faire this year
[01:54:31] <rue_bed> in vancouver
[01:54:38] <rue_bed> I'm insane
[01:54:50] <rue_bed> If I spent that on robots... wow
[01:55:26] <deshipu> robots can't buy you love
[01:57:07] <SorcererX> and throwing money at a robot doesn't necessarily make it good either :)
[02:01:05] <MonashCollegeMCD> is anyone here a robot?
[02:02:57] <deshipu> you can't prove anything
[02:04:21] <MonashCollegeMCD> you can't.
[02:12:15] <rue_bed> MonashCollegeMCD, prove your not a robot, go on
[02:12:36] <rue_bed> how we know your not saying all this to divert suspicion
[04:56:23] <veverak> deshipu: that 1.5x3 screws are for what? O_o
[04:57:17] <veverak> +1 for LEDS approach
[04:58:20] <deshipu> for everything
[04:58:25] <veverak> hmm
[04:58:38] * veverak used default ones
[04:58:45] <veverak> and it's true I was thinking about changing them
[05:05:38] <SpeedEvil> rue_bed: everyone is a robot
[05:05:50] <SpeedEvil> Consciousness is a lie, and we are no more conscious than rocks.
[05:06:18] <deshipu> veverak: what leds?
[05:06:31] <deshipu> you mean this? https://cdn.hackaday.io/images/5757031460367323321.jpg
[05:06:32] <veverak> deshipu: indicator leds that everything works
[05:06:39] <veverak> or the stage it's in
[05:06:50] <deshipu> that's what happens when you try to use kitchen stove for soldering SMD components...
[09:26:32] <rue_house> yea
[09:26:42] <rue_house> your better off witha heatguna nd patience
[17:34:33] <Crow_> Hi guys, can you give me some examples of expert system based robotics application?
[17:34:58] <deshipu> no
[17:35:51] <Crow_> ok ):
[20:05:08] <rue_house> ?
[20:05:14] <rue_house> expert system?
[20:05:34] <rue_house> oh drat, I wonder what time the dollar store closes
[20:06:53] <rue_house> open another 15 mins, wont make it
[22:31:42] <flyback> LordCANUCK
[22:31:43] <flyback> LordCANUCK
[22:31:44] <flyback> LordCANUCK
[22:31:45] <flyback> LordCANUCK
[22:31:50] * flyback headbutts LordByron
[22:38:53] <rue_house> LordByron, ** if you complain its my duty to kick him out **
[22:46:23] <LordByron> rue_house: on contraire. i'd like to retaliate.
[22:46:50] * LordByron slaps flyback flat with his hands.
[22:47:33] <Jak_o_Shadows> Flipping 3D rotations, etc, etc
[22:55:06] <anonnumberanon> Hi guys, can you give me some examples of expert system based robotics application?
[22:55:31] <orlock> define experet systems
[22:55:33] <orlock> expert
[22:56:11] <anonnumberanon> this is a joke
[22:56:30] <anonnumberanon> unless you want a serious riscussion about this
[22:58:23] <anonnumberanon> high-integrity systems, go
[22:58:32] <anonnumberanon> rtos, go
[22:59:16] <orlock> yeah
[22:59:19] <orlock> we do all that here
[23:00:11] <anonnumberanon> okay:)
[23:00:41] <anonnumberanon> so...can i get a quote on...asteroid grappler?
[23:00:41] <orlock> where i work has cube farms full of robotic automation engineers of all sorta
[23:01:02] <orlock> it would probably be a project just to generate the quote
[23:01:10] <orlock> and we specialise in biotech rather than aerospace
[23:01:28] <orlock> but if you have the cash....
[23:01:36] <anonnumberanon> no
[23:01:48] <orlock> You know those fancy new coke machines?
[23:01:59] <anonnumberanon> not yet
[23:02:05] <orlock> they are maybe 5 years old
[23:02:09] <orlock> touchscreens
[23:02:09] <anonnumberanon> ok
[23:02:16] <orlock> choose your own drink mix, etc
[23:02:21] <anonnumberanon> you guise make them*
[23:02:28] <anonnumberanon> ?
[23:04:38] <anonnumberanon> at least that pays more consistently than space industry contracts
[23:04:55] <orlock> hey zhanx
[23:04:59] <anonnumberanon> cause everyone is ready to buy a $2 coke
[23:05:07] <zhanx> Hey orlock
[23:05:16] <zhanx> How's the kid?
[23:05:34] <orlock> Generally good, bit sick - was awake wanting a feed at 4am
[23:05:45] <orlock> which is unusual, must have been hungry
[23:06:41] <orlock> How are yours?
[23:06:42] <anonnumberanon> teeth
[23:07:32] <orlock> Looking at building a sumo robot for work
[23:07:38] <orlock> 3kg, 20cm square
[23:08:35] <anonnumberanon> for battle?
[23:09:05] <orlock> yes
[23:09:07] <orlock> well, sumo
[23:09:26] <zhanx> Mine are crazy
[23:09:28] <anonnumberanon> i asked cause at the sork environment
[23:09:30] <zhanx> Normal
[23:09:47] <zhanx> 2 going on 6
[23:09:49] <Jak_o_Shadows> Yay! I have the rotations somewhat more correct now!
[23:09:54] <anonnumberanon> managers don't usually sanction such good ideas nowadays
[23:10:04] <Jak_o_Shadows> Seriously, I need to find a good convention for rotating
[23:10:32] <anonnumberanon> clockwise?
[23:10:41] <Jak_o_Shadows> a) no
[23:10:59] <Jak_o_Shadows> I'm more talking about what order euler angles that I'm actually using
[23:11:52] <anonnumberanon> Why is that on topic? Sounds like a personal struggle without any further details.
[23:12:24] <anonnumberanon> But good job though if thats the kind of feedback you needed.
[23:13:47] <orlock> Jak_o_Shadows: is that one of those things where you can use the right hand rule?
[23:14:05] <Jak_o_Shadows> well, rotation issues arn't unheard of in robotics. Basically i'm trying to match some data, and if I make my rotation matrix a specific way, and then transpose it, it works
[23:14:28] <Jak_o_Shadows> yeah, I use the right hand rule for whether a rotation about an axis is + or -
[23:19:38] <anonnumberanon> Im just brainstorming about what to do after my servo driver. start by balancing the robot with accelerometer maybe. Maybe that should be done before making it walk.
[23:22:48] <anonnumberanon> thig is a gait foes not require a position sensor and can be achieved fast and be rewarding.
[23:23:17] <anonnumberanon> a sloooooow gait
