[00:16:17] <flyback> OWNS YOUR "CANUCK".....................................CANUCK
[00:16:25] * flyback throws rue_shop3 at himself
[00:52:47] <rue_shop3> AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAa this has to be the 15th time I'v needed 3/4" steel pipe and its the ONE FREAKING THING I'm out of!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
[02:16:47] <rue_house> http://ruemohr.org/~ircjunk/robots/arm6/slide.htm
[02:16:57] <rue_house> comming along nicely
[02:17:27] <rue_house> awefull welds, but good enough
[02:17:44] <rue_house> if I learned anything from china, I should push bondo into them and then paint it
[02:18:14] <rue_house> I have the feedback on 3 of the axies, I should servo them up
[02:18:28] <rue_house> oh yea, I need mroe pipe clamps
[02:18:46] <rue_house> amazing the things I find out I'm out of when I'm building soemthing
[02:18:55] <rue_house> LIKE 3/4" STEEL PIPE
[02:19:14] <rue_house> it'll be a 7 axis robot
[02:19:15] <rue_house> :)
[02:21:13] <Wetmelon> Jeez you weren't kidding about the awful welds lol
[02:25:40] <rue_house> AWE SHUTUPP
[02:25:42] <rue_house> :)
[02:25:53] <rue_house> they are good enough to hold that thing togethor
[02:26:13] <rue_house> I dont have any tig gas, and thats thin metal for stick welding
[02:26:18] <rue_house> the galvanization dosn't help
[02:26:24] <rue_house> INHALE DEEPLY
[02:31:36] <Wetmelon> rue_house: That's straight up a recipe for disaster lol
[02:31:42] <Wetmelon> You'll have to show me when it's done :D
[02:33:27] <rue_house> my projects are never done
[02:33:39] <rue_house> at some point I just go with them as they are
[02:35:57] <rue_house> sideways image, yea, thats pro
[02:36:34] <rue_house> it took me about 2 years to work out how to drive the feedback pots
[02:36:59] <rue_house> dont know how I'm gonna do the one for that top roatation, but right now I have no idea how I'm gonna hook up the motor for it
[02:37:34] <rue_house> I think the whole gripper end will be bowden cables down the top tube
[02:37:44] <rue_house> but I need some proper bike cables
[02:38:01] <rue_house> the ones I had here all got rustry and disintegrated
[02:38:47] <rue_house> part of the lesson on that robot was to paint the peices as I think I'm done, I shouldve painted that top peice
[02:39:27] <rue_house> aligning that gear on the top took about an hour
[02:39:32] <rue_house> evil
[02:40:29] <rue_house> I need to keep working up the size of the robots so I can get to the mecha
[02:40:51] <rue_house> actaully, I think technically this might be a longer reach than the mecha arm is
[02:42:32] <rue_house> one of the points of amusement is the difference in skill I see in my projects between the parts made when I started it and the last parts put on
[02:42:47] <rue_house> I dont think I had the lathe when I started that arm
[02:42:57] <rue_house> maybe I did
[02:45:35] <rue_house> top pot needs position adjustment
[02:45:56] <rue_house> I changed the top hinge design and the problems it had got worse
[15:06:04] <Jokern> Hello
[15:07:57] <DagoRed> patience
[16:17:05] <goppo> for controlling DC motors, is PWM needed only to control speed?
[16:17:08] <goppo> RC cars use constant speed, right?
[16:19:24] <DagoRed> DC motors, I would adjust the voltage only.
[16:20:06] <goppo> DagoRed, and not PWM?
[16:21:54] <DagoRed> You could but I would run it through an op amp with a cap in parallel with the resistor.
[16:22:03] <DagoRed> *with the feedback resistor.
[16:22:28] <goppo> DagoRed, how come?
[16:22:29] <goppo> why not PWM?
[16:24:46] <DagoRed> .... well what is giving your PWM signal?
[16:26:41] <DagoRed> goppo: how are you giving and powering that PWM signal to the motor.
[16:39:20] <veverak> goppo: depends on which RC Cars
[16:39:27] <veverak> the one I've been using were like
[16:39:37] <veverak> 1500 - 2000 us is throttle
[16:39:50] <veverak> 1000-1500 is break if throttle was applied while ago
[16:39:58] <veverak> 1000-1500 back
[16:40:04] <veverak> *1500-2000 is front throttle
[16:43:41] <DagoRed> veverak: did he say he was controlling an RC car?
[16:44:19] <veverak> 225130 goppo | RC cars use constant speed, right?
[16:44:28] <veverak> just answering for subquestion
[16:44:29] <DagoRed> Oh....
[16:44:30] <veverak> :)
[16:44:37] <DagoRed> I missed that... obviously.
[22:36:53] <rue_shop3> hahah
[22:37:38] <rue_shop3> hours of fruitless digging to round up 1" of a peice of steel pipe that turned out to be too small, and I *just picked up* a peice the right size from the "random bits" box
[22:53:43] <SpeedEvil> :)
[23:06:42] <cyberdelic> hey guys, what do you find to be the most accurate distance sensor for robotics? I have some IR 'proximity' sensors that vary analog voltage based on the IR light returned. They work well but have their shortcomings. Haven't tried sonar yet
[23:13:49] <SpeedEvil> tape measure
[23:14:06] <SpeedEvil> for what distance?
[23:38:42] <cyberdelic> 0 - 40cm
