00:14 ^kat^ so wtf happens in here?
07:31 SolarNRG I made a bow out of a 2inch thick pvc pipe, some holes, some nylon chord and broom handle as an arrow, I managed to fire the broom but it only flew like 6 feet or so and I was really pulling back hard on the chord and I scared my cat in the process, how can I make it fire better?
07:33 Tom_shop make it out of real wood and use a real arrow & string
07:33 Tom_shop compound bow is better
07:34 SolarNRG I was looking at how the mongols made their bows, but I've not seen ox horn or fish glue for sale anywhere
07:34 Tom_shop looking in the wrong places maybe
07:35 Jak_o_Shadows You get the energy from the bow deforming remember.
07:36 Tom_itx a broom handle isn't exactly light either
07:48 SolarNRG Why can't I shave the broom handle with any of the knives I find in the house?
07:49 SolarNRG Why is it so freaking hard to get a descent blade these days?
07:50 SolarNRG would aluminium tubes make good arrowshafts?
07:51 Tom_itx some are
07:53 SpeedEvil http://www.scaffolding-direct.co.uk/alloy-tube-48-3mm-x-6m-length-for-tube-clamps-and-scaffolding.aspx + a nice head, and fletching.
07:56 SolarNRG I was kinda thinking using like 12-16mm diam aluminium tubes
07:58 SpeedEvil Look at the grade of tube arrows are typically made of
08:17 SolarNRG structural aluminium alloy
08:24 Tom_itx more in the 1/4" 6mm diameter though
08:28 SolarNRG that's the thickness of a bb!?
09:34 SpeedEvil Tom_itx: I prefer mine.
