14:19 abe Hello
14:19 robopal hi
14:20 abe Is it possible right now to create a humanoid robot with the same weight, strength and speed of an average human male?
14:20 abe control issues aside
14:21 SpeedEvil abe: that depends how much he's been eating
14:21 SpeedEvil Probably not.
14:21 SpeedEvil The peak output of each muscle can be quite large, and the force can be high too, and the speed is high at peak
14:22 abe I've been looking at actuators and motors and solenoids and I can't seem to find anything that provides anywhere near the same amount of torque and angular degrees per second needed for limbs
14:22 abe yeah what you said
14:22 SpeedEvil hydraulic/pnuematic can do it - but that only moves the problem
14:23 abe as silly as it sounds, I want to make a tennis playing robot
14:23 abe real tennis
14:24 abe the closest I've been able to find is the kuka bot
14:24 abe and some things that launch balls
14:24 abe and only one is real
14:30 deshipu a wall works pretty well for that
14:32 deshipu how about making the ball virtual and simulating it with a physics engine? they you just have to do motion capture on the racket
14:33 deshipu and find a way to display the ball in 3d, which should be easier
14:35 robopal abe, why you want to make a robot that plays tennis? Are you trying to transfer your unfulfilled ambition on to your child, I mean robot?
14:40 abe robopal, nah I never wanted to be federer or agassi
14:40 abe I just want to be able to play against them
14:41 abe i figured the robot could fill those guys' roles
14:42 deshipu therevare tennis training robots
14:42 deshipu they look like gun turrets
14:47 abe therevare?
14:47 abe or "there are"
17:09 deshipu sorry, this keyboard is kinda crappy and I keep hitting v by mistake instead of space
