01:42 Jak_o_Shadows 3d printer is back up
02:57 rue_house what happened with it
03:04 Jak_o_Shadows the hot-3nd resistor had failed
03:04 Jak_o_Shadows replaced it with a heater cartridge
03:10 rue_house it was a resistor not a cartridge heater?
03:10 rue_house did it have heatsink compound?
03:10 Jak_o_Shadows yeah
03:11 Jak_o_Shadows no
03:12 Jak_o_Shadows It was a pretty loose fit as well
03:38 rue_house yea well there sure the heck cant be an air gap
03:39 Jak_o_Shadows well, not all the way around
04:05 rue_bed I packed mine with heatsink compound and even then it only lasted about 10hours of operation or so
04:05 rue_bed so I went to a $1 cartridge heater
04:05 rue_bed not replaced one yet
04:05 Jak_o_Shadows Mine lasted much longer than that.
04:06 Jak_o_Shadows I used alu foil to make the cartridge heater fit nicely
04:06 rue_bed you said it was a resistor
04:06 rue_bed was it a resistor or a cartridge heater
04:18 Jak_o_Shadows was a resistor, replaced the resistor with a cartridge
04:27 rue_bed ah
04:27 rue_bed how many hours have you put on your printer so far
04:28 Jak_o_Shadows 20+
04:28 Jak_o_Shadows No more than 2 hours per single print though
05:55 deshipu RustySha1kleford: a walking quadruped robot maybe? ;)
16:28 sector_0 how suitable do you guys think nitinol is for robotic actuation?
16:37 SpeedEvil sector_0: for limited uses - great
19:08 wolfmanjm any math experts around who understnad complex numbers and complex formulas?
19:09 wolfmanjm https://www.softintegration.com/chhtml/toolkit/mechanism/fourbar/fourbarpos.html need to derive a formula from (4) to get theta2 given theta4 basically the opposite of what they do there
19:09 wolfmanjm I have the formuals for deriving theta4 from theta2 working but need the opposite of that
19:10 wolfmanjm they say "Similar equations can be derived assuming either theta3 or theta4 is known with the other two angles as parameters." but I am having a little issue with that :)
19:10 wolfmanjm never used complex numbers that way before
19:13 wolfmanjm oh actually it doesn't look too hard :) even though I have no idea what they are doing I can rearrange the equation (3) pretty easily ;)
19:25 rue_bed that are you doing with it?
19:31 rue_bed .. what are you doing wiht it?
19:31 rue_bed not that stupid walking thing is it?
19:42 wolfmanjm yea it is the solution for a 4 linkage system which is what stubby uses gets me more torque by usiing a linkage
19:43 wolfmanjm but now I am stumped again with equaitions (5) (6) and (7) :(
19:43 wolfmanjm really wish I had paid more attention in math classes
