01:09 rue_house see if anyone local has parts...
01:14 hackman127 Well now I've gone and done it. Updated a kernel on a remote production server, rebooted, and now lvm i snot available.
01:14 rue_house theres stress
01:14 hackman127 No joke
01:14 rue_house what flag you gotget?
01:14 rue_house what flag you forget?
01:15 hackman127 Not sure yet. All I have is Busybox to try to fix it...
01:15 rue_house so boot it back to the old kernel that you didn't delete because you knew not to incase this happened
01:15 hackman127 Well, see, here's the thing...
01:15 hackman127 lol
01:16 hackman127 (I'm sure you know where that's going...)
01:16 rue_house oooh, you had to delete the old one cause there wasn't 3M spare?
01:17 rue_house sorry, I'm not helping you right now
01:17 hackman127 Honestly, I should have checked, but I'm much more familiar with my gentoo boxes than these debian machines.
01:17 rue_house use the backup of the old /proc/config.gz to remake the old kernel
01:19 hackman127 I don't even have access to the drives the old kernel was on right now. The array is encrypted.
01:20 rue_house good thing its just a copy of origional vm
01:20 hackman127 Nope, no VMs here.
01:21 rue_house good thing the other server is taking all the requests till this gets worked out
01:21 hackman127 Kinda? Accounting is going to be pissed at me, but at least all the other minions are good to go.
01:22 hackman127 I'm not making this any better for myself, am I...
01:23 rue_house your learning is aproaching the limit of 90degrees
01:23 hackman127 lol
01:24 hackman127 Man, I hate Debian...
01:24 rue_house its not evil...
01:24 rue_house what you trying to do right now
01:25 hackman127 Considering mounting virtual media running sysreccd
01:25 rue_house it would greatly help if you asked about soemthing I was familiar with
01:25 rue_house you want to mount an image?
01:26 hackman127 The thing that sucks is this server has a USB stick inside it that I could have booted from, if I weren't under the gun to get it into production and had the time to execute my plan of adding a recue image to it...
01:26 e_house watches the hackers bounce off his firewal
01:26 e_house nods, thats a great
01:27 rue_house was the origional kernel stock?
01:27 hackman127 Yeah, the IPMI interface on it will allow me to remotely mount an image.
01:27 hackman127 Yeah, and so was the replacement.
01:28 rue_house ok, the stock kernels are easy to get
01:28 rue_house what kernel was it?
01:28 hackman127 The only drive I see listed in /dev is my cdrom.
01:29 rue_house how new WAS the new kernel?
01:29 rue_house not bleeding?
01:30 hackman127 Not sure what the new kernel was exactly, I'll have to see if I can find it. And no, we're running Wheezy, so it's on extended support. Not bleeding edge at all, shoudl be stable as can be.
01:30 rue_house why does the ssh librarys examples come with a library to use the library functions?
01:31 rue_house sounds like you want a rescue kernel
01:31 rue_house ... in an encrypted volume, where is the key stored?
01:31 rue_house cant be ON the volume...
01:31 hackman127 Yep. I ran the rescue kernel that got me as far as busybox.
01:32 hackman127 The key is in my head, as well as very well secured documentation.
01:32 rue_house a real rescue kernel gets the origional system back up, but isn't a proper boot process
01:32 hackman127 The box can't be booted without manual intervention.
01:32 rue_house so, after its booted you have to hand mount the volume with the key?
01:32 hackman127 Yeah, the rescue kernel the dist-upgrade installed sucks...
01:33 rue_house I meant a kernel that boots from an alternate device, but mounts and runs the system you want to have running
01:33 rue_house not a rescue image
01:33 hackman127 Ah
01:34 rue_house for example, I have been known to tweek a kernel to start off a usb stick and mount /sda1 as its root fs
01:34 hackman127 Anyway, the kernel boots from initramfs, and when init gets around to mounting the encrypted volumes, it prompts for the key.
01:34 rue_house grub can be coaxed into it on a good day
01:35 rue_house tho I find getting grub to do anything is always a fight
01:35 rue_house its 11:15
01:35 hackman127 I really dislike grub...
01:35 rue_house I'm supposed to be in bed at 9:45
01:35 hackman127 Give me lilo any day
01:35 hackman127 HA!
01:35 hackman127 I know that feeling.
01:35 rue_house :) I usually ditch grub for lilo
01:35 hackman127 I'm in good company!
01:36 rue_house if I could still boot the kernel direct, I'd do it
01:36 rue_house gngiht
01:36 hackman127 Later
01:36 rue_house best of luck, I'm sure you will get it, just be patient, dispite...
01:37 hackman127 I'm sure I'll get something going, but I wouldn't mind sleeping before I have to get up again. Not looking very good for that, though...
01:37 hackman127 But thanks
14:36 Krypteron Hello
17:11 wolfmanjm deshipu: any updates to your gait code? I'm about to start workin gon my quadruped again.. using an edison to control it :)
17:24 deshipu wolfmanjm: adding trot gait to it, but not tested yet
17:25 deshipu andvI should really trim tge servos properly
17:25 deshipu I was recently mainly focusing on the docs, as I'm traveling and don't have all my tools and materials available
17:27 Krypteron Quick question, I've got a couple consoles I don't use. PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 w/ Kinect, Xbox 1 w/ Kinect. I haven't used in a while, is there anything besides the Kinects from both Xboxs that I can salvage? I've found that robotics (via Reddit) is something I want to get into as a hobby.
17:34 deshipu controllers
17:35 wolfmanjm deshipu: got a link to the current code?
17:53 Krypteron If I have attachments for the xbox controllers, would I want to keep and possibly be able to use them as well? Headset/keyboard.
