00:15 rue_house csg dosn't like subtracting objects that share a surface on the exact same plane
00:17 rue_house sweet, I took 3 orthographic views and turned them into solid object via extrusion and csg difference
00:51 rue_house ok I didn't quite mean to watch it till it finished printing, but it came out great
00:51 rue_house thats almost creepy how well it fits the tube
08:45 _TK_ Greetings, my friends!
08:48 _TK_ What do you think makes http://www.pitsco.com/SAM_Robot so pricey?
08:51 deshipu "doesn’t require an understanding of program languages" <-- this
08:52 deshipu it looks really bad
09:04 rue_house hahah for $1200 you dont even get the trainer board thats under it
09:05 rue_house they must have bad managment, and put a lot of time into developing it
09:05 rue_house oooh AND this is a school store, so its 10x what it costs anywhere else
09:05 rue_house somehow people thing schools have money
09:05 rue_house k
09:07 rue_house 5 axis?
09:10 deshipu they count the gripper as an axis, apparently
09:10 _TK_ :)
09:12 _TK_ Perhaps it is judged that at school it'd serve many people.
09:13 deshipu basically it's a trap for people who have no idea
09:15 rue_house its "the neat thing at school were not allowed to toucha nd nobody knows how it works"
09:16 deshipu also, the school might be comparing several of them within their budget, and naturally will pick the more expensive one
09:16 deshipu as long as it fits
09:16 _TK_ :|
09:21 _TK_ ...thought that at school it was all about intelligence improvement.
09:28 deshipu haha
09:28 deshipu education has nothing to do with intelligence
09:28 deshipu it has 3 mutually exclusive goals
09:28 deshipu conflicting
09:56 _TK_ Yeah...
09:57 _TK_ But children are taught that one goes to school and beComes smart...
10:00 _TK_ deshipu, ...Conflicting goals like teaching people to be obedient and not question?
11:34 _TK_ What is there that would be reasonable for physical robot simulation or virtual prototyping?
13:21 dony hello
14:22 _TK_ dony, hi!
14:24 dony how are you _TK_
14:25 _TK_ Progressively I guess :)
14:26 _TK_ My mother was a ( a bit large )bit sick though.
14:27 _TK_ How about you?
14:29 _TK_ Working on some interesting thing, dony?
14:34 dony not really
14:34 dony hoping to work on something cool soon _TK_
14:34 dony _TK_: what do you mean did your mother pass away?
14:39 _TK_ No.
14:41 _TK_ There are things like high temperature, feeling of cold and so forth.
14:41 _TK_ ...after a surgery.
14:42 _TK_ ( perhaps caught an illness at the hospital )
14:44 _TK_ Yes? Got something cool in mind of hoping to find, dony?
14:44 _TK_ *or
14:47 _TK_ Has anyone found use for http://www.openrobots.org/morse/doc/stable/hri.html ?
19:43 rue_house peopel go to school to be crammed into a mould and told if they meet someone elses idea of smart
19:43 rue_house and most smart people are destroyed by curriculums that are made for less smart people
19:51 cameronfr anyone have experience putting together 3d printed parts?
19:51 cameronfr I'm trying to figure out the best way to connect pieces
19:52 rue_house shwo them to me
19:52 rue_house pemanent or servicable
19:52 rue_house ah, nice peices, use trick 7
19:59 cameronfr I'm currently cading it
20:00 cameronfr it's a small robot chassis
20:00 cameronfr will nuts and bolts work ok?
20:31 rue_house yup
20:31 rue_house how much msaller does the printer make holes
20:32 rue_house mins is .4mm
20:45 Triffid_Hunter cameronfr: standard wood joinery techniques eg dovetails and similar work great, just remember to leave ~100 microns or so clearance
