11:43 rue_more its been there for years but today I tripped over a haeting grate and cut my toe
18:16 deshipu I have to say that openscad is quite nice for producing ikea-like assembly instructions: http://hackaday.io/project/3301/instructions
19:56 Jason hey all! i have a question for you. i'm building an application in python made to sort papers in a certain order
19:57 Jason so i basically need to figure out a way to physically sort these papers in a certain order (least to greatest, each page will have a number assigned to them). i have no idea how to do it (hardware and actual method)
20:00 Jak_o_Shadows papers?
20:03 Jason Jak_o_Shadows: aye
20:15 orlock rue: awesome looking bench psu
20:23 Jak_o_Shadows the gripping bit seems difficult.
20:24 Jak_o_Shadows possibly suction?
20:24 Jason Jak_o_Shadows: hm
20:24 Jason Jak_o_Shadows: a friend of mine recommended that i go about putting my papers on a conveyor belt
20:24 Jason scan everything, assign the numbers to them, and then have my program remember where they're at (so i don't have to keep rescanning0
20:24 Jason and then eventually just go in a loop
20:24 Jason if that makes sense?
20:25 Jason go in a loop, and then launch the lowest number off, then the second lowest, then the third ... etc
20:25 Jason that seems like the most logical way to me
20:25 Jason i mean it's the only way i can think of, lol
20:26 Jason now i basically need to get a conveyor. :(
20:26 Jason i don't know where i can get one at.
20:26 Jak_o_Shadows suction cap and robot arm isn't impossible
20:27 Jason Jak_o_Shadows: well
20:28 Jason Jak_o_Shadows: one, that seems really complex and prone to many errors
20:28 Jason :/
20:28 Jason Jak_o_Shadows: two, i'm not sure where to get a robot arm.
21:46 rue_shop3 hahahahah!!! the 3d printed hose caps works!!!
21:46 rue_shop3 hahaha eat that $2ea!
21:46 rue_shop3 hahahahahaha
21:46 rue_shop3 Jason, I will sell you one of mine, only $150
21:47 Jak_o_Shadows what hose cap?
21:48 rue_shop3 I made a 3d printed hose cap
21:48 Jak_o_Shadows I don't quite get what you mean b y hose cap
21:48 rue_shop3 the stupid things cost $2 at the cheapest places, so now I can print them
21:48 rue_shop3 do you know what a garden hose is?
21:48 Jak_o_Shadows yup
21:49 rue_shop3 its an endcap for that thread
21:49 Jak_o_Shadows er, you lost me at thread
21:49 Jak_o_Shadows our garden hoses are just hoses
21:50 rue_shop3 no threaded ends?
21:50 Jak_o_Shadows and we have gardena type friction fittings
21:50 Jak_o_Shadows nup
21:50 rue_shop3 right, then you dont know, no worries
21:50 Jak_o_Shadows We use: http://www.gardena.com/files/Gardena/cs/products/Water%20management/pcp/Water_management-hose_connectors.jpg
21:51 Jak_o_Shadows with http://www.homedepot.ca/wcsstore/HomeDepotCanada/images/catalog/6943A_4.jpg as the connector to the tap
21:52 rue_shop3 see that thread on that last link?
21:52 Jak_o_Shadows MMm.
21:52 rue_shop3 THATS the thread I made the cap for
21:52 Jak_o_Shadows ah.
21:53 rue_shop3 you can get a pack of 2 caps for about $4 or $5
21:53 Jak_o_Shadows So your hoses have that sort of thread connected to the hose?
21:53 rue_shop3 OR now you can 3d print them
21:53 rue_shop3 all of them
21:53 rue_shop3 and washing machnies
21:53 rue_shop3 and tank drains
21:53 Jak_o_Shadows wow, such consistency
21:55 rue_shop3 the price of caps has been a bain to my existance for 3 years now
21:55 rue_shop3 the 12' mecha uses washing machine valves for the pneumatics
21:56 Jak_o_Shadows ah
21:56 Jak_o_Shadows Do you reckon you could 3d print a nozzle that would fit over a PET bottle? Like, this thread: http://www.molor.com/images/bottle%2010.jpg
21:57 rue_shop3 I think so
21:57 Jak_o_Shadows That is a thing I must try
21:57 rue_shop3 they are already on thingverse
21:57 rue_shop3 I couldn't find a hose cap tho
21:57 rue_shop3 lots of bottle rocket parts
22:59 Jak_o_Shadows rue, for your end cap, did you change the infill to be concentric?
23:05 rue_shop3 no i used the thread generator from thingiverse
23:05 rue_shop3 whcih makes really terrible threads
