16:31 katsmeow-afk here's a heck of a SOC multicore chip : Lenovo is using Cavium’s ThunderX system-on-chips, which includes ethernet, memory, I/O and other key interfaces. Each ARM chip has up to 48 cores, and can operate at a frequency of up to 2.5GHz
22:53 rue_more I wonder how much air expands when it goes from 20c to 1500c
22:55 Tom_itx about 1480C worth
22:55 Tom_itx is it pure air or polluted?
23:18 theBear heh
23:21 theBear any of you err, gents <grin> messed about with these fancy new "integrated sensor" soldering irons ? it seems that noone is particularly sure/aware exactly what they are, but reports range from the element being a "RTD" (basically single-metal thermistor) to them being an element + thermocouple in series, which sounds err, tenuous to me...either way, i can only find toolage to measure up to 220c at the moment, and my quick + dirty hack approach to mo
23:21 theBear dding my solder station controller for the new iron (they don't make the old 4 wire heater + thermo anymore) didn't look amazing on the tests (haven't broken in the new iron yet, being careful, but i got two BIG 8 ohm resistors, and the iron is 4ohm at ambient, about .5mv and 8ohm after sitting under my 50w halogen for 10 minutes, so they should be appropriate to test)
23:29 rue_more Tom_itx, at 1500c its poluted, lots of CO
23:29 rue_more and S2H
23:44 katsmeow-afk then it might catch fire
